Over 22,000 Evenflo Revolve180 LiteMax NXT Infant Car Seats and Travel Systems Recalled for Recline Issue

A car seat that isn’t reclined as intended can increase the risk of injury in a crash. No injuries have been reported.

Evenflo has voluntarily recalled nearly 23,000 Revolve180 LiteMax NXT rotating infant car seats and related travel systems due to an issue with the seat’s recline angle, which may increase the risk of injury in a crash. Only select models of the rotating Revolve180 LiteMax NXT produced before April 1, 2025, and sold in the U.S. are affected by the recall. The non-rotating Evenflo LiteMax NXT infant car seat is not included in this recall.

A repair kit is under development, and all registered owners will be notified beginning Sept. 1. No injuries related to the recall issue have been reported. Evenflo said the issue was identified in post-production testing following a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is related to a miscalibrated level indicator. Consumer Reports has tested the Evenflo Revolve180 LiteMax NXT and found that the recline angle on this infant car seat was too upright for an infant under 3 months in our fit-to-vehicle evaluations. An overly upright angle for a young infant could cause the child’s head to fall forward and obstruct their airway. 

In CR’s crash tests of Evenflo Revolve180 LiteMax NXT models manufactured in December 2024, the seat earned our “Basic” score, meaning it didn’t offer as much crash protection based on crash dummy injury measurements as compared with other infant car seats we crash-tested. The Evenflo LiteMax NXT on a non-rotating base earned our “Better” score, offering a higher level of crash protection. 

If you have an Evenflo Revolve180 LiteMax NXT car seat, you may continue to use it until the repair kit becomes available by following Evenflo’s updated installation guidance, outlined below (see “What to do next”). Some recalled car seats may have been sold as part of a travel system that has also been recalled, but you may still use the car seat with a compatible stroller or as a carrier outside the vehicle, according to Evenflo.

The news of the Revolve180 LiteMax NXT recall comes just weeks after another Evenflo car seat recall: the Evenflo REO by Revolve360. That rotating convertible car seat was found to pose a safety risk: The headrest could shift from a higher to a lower position under certain crash-test conditions. A remedy for the REO by Revolve360 is also under development.

Details of the Evenflo Revolve180 LiteMax NXT Car Seat Recall

Seats recalled: 22,981 Evenflo Revolve180 LiteMax NXT rotating infant car seats.

Affected model numbers include: This recall applies only to select Revolve180 LiteMax NXT infant car seats sold in the U.S. and manufactured before April 1, 2025. Affected car seats may have been purchased separately or as part of select Shyft Intuiti, Shyft Intuiti+, or Omni travel systems.

Other Evenflo car seats are not included in this recall, nor are Revolve180 LiteMax NXT infant car seats manufactured on or after April 1, 2025.

Your car seat is included in this recall only if both of the following are true: 

• Your model number appears in the list below.  

• Your car seat was manufactured before April 1, 2025. 

You can locate the product label with the model number and date of manufacturing in the center of the car seat base on the LockStrong belt-tensioning panel.

The problem: Due to a miscalibrated level indicator, following the installation instructions can result in a child sitting more upright than intended, which can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

What to do next: Evenflo is providing affected consumers with a free repair kit. Until the repair kit is available, you may continue using your affected infant car seat in one of the following ways: 

• Installed without the rotating base, following Evenflo’s carrier-only seat belt installation instructions. Watch the step-by-step installation video here. 

• Installed with a compatible LiteMax NXT non-rotating base.  

• Installed with its current rotating base and a load leg.
