Evenflo Revolve 180 LiteMax NXT Core+

The Evenflo Revolve 180 LiteMax NXT Rotating Infant Car Seat is a rotating car seat that can be used rear-facing only and for babies weighing 3 to 30 lbs. An additional infant insert is required for babies between 3 and 6 lbs. Rotating the car seat to either side 90 degrees is simple and can be done with one hand, which may simplify the harnessing process. (The rotating base pairs with both the Evenflo Revolve 180 LiteMax NXT Infant Car Seat and the Evenflo LiteMax NXT car seats, which adds additional flexibility if you want to swap a stationary base for a rotating one.) The carrier also includes several other caregiver-friendly features, including a no-rethread harness, push-on LATCH connectors, a seat belt tensioner, and SensorSafe Bluetooth technology, which sends car seat safety alerts to your smartphone. A load leg can be purchased separately. The seat is lightweight and easy to install, but our car seat experts found it difficult to get an appropriate recline angle with both the base and carrier-only in several different vehicles, which would be especially concerning for premature infants or newborns, given the need for a reclined position that doesn’t put added pressure on their neck and chest.

The Evenflo LiteMax NXT Infant Car Seat (which is not a rotating model) scored better in our proprietary crash tests. 

This seat may be a good choice for: 

• Families who want a dedicated infant seat for the first year before switching to a rear-facing convertible or all-in-one car seat
• Anyone who needs a simple and straightforward installation, thanks to the push-on LATCH connectors and seat belt lockoff  
• Caregivers with limited mobility who may appreciate a rotating car seat

Ease of use: Our expert car seat testers found this seat very easy to install; however, they had issues achieving a proper recline level on the seat, which is designed to be used with even the smallest babies, starting from 3 lbs. While the rotating function is easy to use, the instructional labels were minimal, and most are only included on one side of the car seat shell, which may make them difficult to see depending on which side of the car you’re installing the car seat in.

Crash protection: In CR’s crash test protocol, this seat provided less protection to the child dummy, and the measured injury metrics were higher compared to other infant car seats we’ve crash-tested, earning a Basic rating. Evenflo told CR that while they believe CR’s ratings provide helpful guidance to parents and caregivers, “We believe the CR rating is an artifact of the specific CR test conditions and not indicative of overall seat performance in real-world crashes,” a company spokesperson said. “The CR test only evaluates frontal crash modes in a specific test environment,” while “Evenflo considers more crash scenarios.” Evenflo recommends maintaining a 1.5-inch gap between the infant seat and the vehicle seat in front of it to increase safety.
