""Red engine light came on. First dealer put in new battery, and said disregard warning light. Odd. A few days later, the car stopped. It was towed to a different dealer, kept overnight, and was repaired with a new alternator. All OK in six months since. I do not know if the earlier battery replacement was needed but the car was 5 1/2 years old and did a lot of sitting in the heated garage because I only drive around 3200 miles per year. I don't know what should be the longevity of the alternator. High part costs and incompetence of first car dealer still concern me.""
