Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain Recalled Because Child Seat Anchors May Not Work Effectively
LATCH anchors in the rear seat could prevent seats from being installed securely
General Motors is recalling 2020 to 2023 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain SUVs because the four rear-seat lower car seat anchors, known as LATCH, may have excessive powder coating and therefore prevent a secure installation.
The Details
Vehicles Recalled
2020-2023 Chevrolet Equinox
2020-2023 GMC Terrain
The problem: Excessive powder coating on the four rear-seat lower child seat LATCH anchorage bars could prevent a child seat from being installed with the anchorage bars.
The fix: Dealers will inspect the LATCH anchorage bars, then remove and replace the finish, as necessary, free of charge.
How to contact the manufacturer: Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 800-462-8782.
NHTSA campaign number: 23V339000. GM’s number for this recall is N232403240.
Check to see whether your vehicle has an open recall: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website will tell you whether your vehicle has any open recalls that need to be addressed.
If you plug your car’s 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) into NHTSA’s website and a recall doesn’t appear, it means your vehicle doesn’t currently have any open recalls. Because automakers issue recalls often, and for many older vehicles, we recommend checking back regularly to see whether your vehicle has had a recall issued.
