Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs Recalled to Fix Airbag Sensors
A software update is necessary to fix the problem
Jeep is recalling nearly 420,000 Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 2022 through 2026 model years and Grand Cherokee L SUVs from the 2023 through 2025 model years to fix a faulty airbag sensor.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall Details
Vehicles recalled:
• 2022-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs manufactured between May 16, 2022, and Aug. 19, 2025
• 2023-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L SUVs manufactured between May 16, 2022, and Oct. 9, 2025
The problem: A supplier discovered a software issue in the occupant restraint controller (ORC), which may prevent error codes from clearing. This could prevent airbags from deploying properly, and means the vehicles are out of compliance with FMVSS 571.214, “Side Impact Protection.”
The fix: Jeep Dealerships will update the vehicle software, free of charge.
How to contact the manufacturer: Owners may contact Jeep at 800-853-1403.
