Mercedes-Benz Cars and SUVs Recalled for Electrical Issues

The recall, related to a faulty fuse, covers a range of 2023 and 2024 vehicles, including the all-electric EQE and EQS

Mercedes-Benz is recalling almost 32,000 cars and SUVs because a faulty fuse might cause electrical problems, including a loss of power while driving, blank screens, nonworking safety systems, and an increased risk of fire.

    MORE ON Car RECALLS

    The recalled vehicles are all from the 2023 and 2024 model years, and include the C300, AMG C43, S580e, S580, Maybach S580, Maybach S680, AMG SL43, AMGSL63, GLC300, EQE350, EQE500, EQS450, EQS580, AMG EQS, 2023 S500, AMG SL55, AMG EQE, 2024 E350, E450, AMG C63e S, CLE300 Coupe, CLE450 Coupe, and GLC300 Coupe.

The problem has to do with an 80-amp fuse that was improperly manufactured. Electrical systems connected to this fuse might stop operating, which could increase the risk of a crash, a fire, and/or an injury.

In documents provided to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the automaker said there have been no warranty claims, customer or dealer complaints, or injuries related to this issue in the U.S.

    Mercedes-Benz Recall Details

The problem: The recalled vehicles have an 80-amp fuse that doesn’t meet production standards, and vehicle systems connected to this fuse may fail and cause a safety issue.

The fix: Mercedes-Benz dealerships will replace the main fuse box on affected vehicles.

How to contact the manufacturer: Owners may contact Mercedes-Benz at 800-367-6372.

    NHTSA campaign number: 24V115

Check to see whether your vehicle has an open recall: NHTSA’s website will tell you whether your vehicle has any open recalls that need to be addressed.

If you plug your car’s 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) into the NHTSA website and a recall doesn’t appear, it means your vehicle doesn’t currently have any open recalls. Because automakers issue recalls often, and for many older vehicles, we recommend checking back regularly to see whether your vehicle has had a recall issued.
