Talking Cars 482: Driving the 2025 Toyota 4Runner

Plus, what does “Econ” mode do?

    Main Theme
In this episode of the Talking Cars podcast, we discuss the redesigned sixth-generation 2025 Toyota 4Runner. Even though the outgoing generation has been around since 2010, it won over fans until the end with its relative simplicity, off-road capabilities, and reliability.

This updated, now larger 4Runner stays true to its roots as an off-road-capable SUV spun off a platform shared with the latest Land Cruiser, Tacoma, and other body-on-frame Toyota models. We purchased an SR5 trim for testing and Toyota loaned us a TRD Pro to gain more experience. (There are 12 configurations total!) How does the new version compare with the previous version, and what will 4Runner-loyalists think?

    Audience Questions
    • What is the Econ drive mode for in my 2025 Honda CR-V?
    • I have limited tactile sensation and perception in my right hand, which makes touchscreens in cars impossible to use. Are there any vehicles with easy-to-use controls you can recommend?
