Reliability History Reliability History The reliability charts are based on responses on hundreds of thousands of vehicles from our latest Annual Auto Survey. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Our subscribers provide great insights into their satisfaction by answering one simple question: If they had it to do all over again, would they definitely buy or lease the same model? In addition, respondents also rate their cars in six categories: driving experience, comfort, value, styling, audio, and climate systems. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Road Test

Long known for its sheer brute force, the Corvette was reborn for 2014 as a lighter, tighter, high-tech sports car. Previous Vettes delivered quick acceleration, but this one added quick reflexes, flat cornering, and more agility. Further, the cheap interior of past Vettes was upgraded with higher-quality materials and a more refined feel. Long story short; this version of the Corvette -- in coupe or convertible body styles -- is a bargain among high-performance cars, delivering ferocious acceleration, precise handling, and excellent braking for thousands of dollars less than competitors with similar capabilites.

Punching the throttle is an eye-opener. The direct-injected 460-hp, 6.2-liter V8 helped it post a blistering 0-to-60-mph acceleration time of 4.3 seconds. The Corvette Stingray shoots forward with seemingly boundless torque and a throaty bark.

Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2015 Chevrolet Corvette owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

In-car Electronics

CD or DVD players, radio, speakers, GPS, communication system (e.g., OnStar), display screen freezes or goes blank, phone pairing (e.g. Bluetooth), voice control commands, steering wheel controls, portable music device interface (e.g., iPod/MP3 player), backup or other camera/sensors.

What Owners Say

Backup or other camera/sensors

"back up camera was malfunctioning. Brought to dealer. They re routed wires and fixed plug. picked up 3 days ago. We will see how it holds up.?"

Daniel W., NJ (2015 Chevrolet Corvette LT 6.2-L V8)

"The back up camera when on the screen, the picture flips and rolls like an old TV from the 1960's. It happens intermittently. I'm Told it will be more than $2000 to fix. They will need to remove entire rear bumper to replace camera and they don't know if that's even the problem. If it does not fix it, they will replace the in dash screen (also thousands $$). $72k car- driven 5,000 mi/ year. It has seen rain rarely. Unacceptable."

Anonymous, OH (2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 6.2-L V8)
Display screen goes blank

"they replaced it"

Jay R., TX (2015 Chevrolet Corvette LT 6.2-L V8)

"It went blank two years into the factory warranty. The repairs was covered under warranty. They replaced the screen and one of the three communication channels. It would have cost me $2500 if I would had to pay.. the second time they had to replace an amplifier. It cost me $1300. All the electronics in the car makes me weary."

Anonymous, AR (2015 Chevrolet Corvette LT 6.2-L V8)
External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

"Ipod nano 4 & 6. Rarely worked when connecting to any USP connection. Could be that both ipods had been discontinued well before auto purchase. So I began using SanDisk memorty cards with music. Worked fine for a while, but now will no shuffle. If I enter an artist or song name, it will play all in order or shuffled, but only for each, i.e., if I just have one selection by an artist it will keep playing that one over and over. If, on the other hand, I have several selections by an artist it will play them in order, but then begins over after the last selection. Also, but another subject.. Just put in a new battery and now them outside temperature is no longer displayed on the screen."

Anonymous, CA (2015 Chevrolet Corvette LT 6.2-L V8)

"MyLink does not support IPOD music devices very well. My 16 GB IPOD Nano works intermittently in the Corvette. It works all the time in the Kia. When it's is not working; the IPOD Nano says: "Accessory not supported""

"The GPS seems to have a mind of its own. You put in the addresses to where you are going, and it may do fine for an hour. Then it just goes to where ever it wants. Then sometimes you put in your destination and it starts at a place not close to where you are located. It has at times showing me in a lake, etc."

Anonymous, TN (2015 Chevrolet Corvette LT 6.2-L V8)

"GPS had a faulty part form factory which caused it not to work and was replaced"

Anonymous, FL (2015 Chevrolet Corvette Base 6.2-L V8)

"Issue was fixed under warranty."

Henry B., TX (2015 Chevrolet Corvette LT 6.2-L V8)

"GM has a problem with their 8-speed automatic transmissions. The solution is to flush the transmission three times with an upgraded fluid. It's an expensive process, not covered under the drivetrain warranty because the fix is a fluid."
