    What Owners Say

Other minor transmission & clutch problem

"When I had a new transmission put in my 2018 truck in 2022 the mechanic put in the old thermostat and then it caused heating problems again so that had to be replaced and now it runs good"

    Anonymous, MI (2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 4.3-L V6)

I searched the web and found the solution ordered the parts removed the unit disassembled the screen and replaced with new parts. Problem solved now 9 months. First took it to CHEVROLET house for repair they had trouble getting parts then told me new parts unavailable using rebuilt parts kept it 10 days until I picked truck up and bought new parts on line and replaced them my self."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country 5.3-L V8)

    Anonymous, TX (2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3-L V8)
    Other emissions/fuel system problem

"A "Non-emergency" engine light flashed. The dealership told me that the sensor in the fuel tank that detects levels had an issue, and that sensor issue prevents the remote start from functioning. The dealership said it had no problems being driven or used, but remote start would not work until the sensor was replaced. They scheduled me time to come in in the next 5 days. 3 days later the sensor alarm went away, and that was over 2 months ago, with driving the truck 2-3 times per week and it hasn't had a problem since. It was easily diagnosed from the dealership. It had no impact on my life outside of a 10minute visit to tell me what the code was and that it was in no way harmful to the truck to operate at whatever capacity I chose to do so. I researched all trucks before purchasing. I had a 2018 LT, that was totalled in an accident when I was T-Bone. I immediately started reasearching replacements, when I found this truck. LTZ with max towing/payload. THANK YOU, Consumer Reports, for recommending this truck in the first place. I can't tell you how many compliments I have received, or people telling me that they wanted one, after one ride. It is quiet, comfortable, and reliable. I upgraded tires to an entry level off-road, and had Chevrolet add the Chevrolet subwoofer. I wish it had the "Towing Mirrors" But, that may have been due to it being used, and they got swapped to a different truck. (Towing mirrors are a $2,000 from CHEVROLET.) Again. Thank you."

    Anonymous A., WA (2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3-L V8)

    Anonymous A., CA (2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3-L V8)

    Drive System

Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, electronic stability control.

    What Owners Say

    Driveshaft or axle

"During an annual state safety inspection a Chevrolet dealer, Koons Tyson Chevrolet in Virginia, told me my rear axle seals were leaking differential oil onto the rear brakes. I was told the probable cause was hard down shifting. I drive gently and, while occasionally I down shift using the steering wheel-mounted button to down shift one gear at a time to engine-brake on a down hill, I NEVER do what might be considered a hard down shift. I am 75, a retired engineer, and I drive in a manner intended to make my vehicles last a long time. I also have a 2013 Honda Accord nearing 200,000 miles which has never needed repairs beyond routine maintenance such as brakes, tires, oil and filters, etc."

    Anonymous A., MD (2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3-L V8)

"During an annual state safety inspection, a Tyson's Corner, Virginia CHEVROLET dealer told me both rear axle seals were leaking differential oil onto my rear brakes. The service person told me it was likely caused by hard down shifting. I NEVER do hard down shifts, have been driving for 50 years, am a retired engineer, and drive gently to make my vehicles to last. My wife, also a retired mechanical engineer, and I routinely keep our vehicles over ten years."

    Anonymous A., MD (2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3-L V8)

    What Owners Say

Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling)

"There is pronounced paint chipping all over the car - not just the front where you would expect rock chips and other road debris to be an issue. Again this is on every side of the car: front, tailgate, doors. The body shop said GM has a bad problem with the paint process."

    Anonymous, TX (2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3-L V8)

"Paint on good and has spots that appear to have been eaten away."

    Anonymous, CA (2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3-L V8)

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

    What Owners Say

    Engine Minor

Accessory belts and pulleys, engine computer, engine mounts, engine knock or ping, fuel leaks, oil leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Engine computer

"only this engine computer under the hood. Happened 2x. Used You Tube. Went thru a series of things to diagnose. Eliminated things until the only thing left was to open up the computer box under the hood and gently tap on a receptor with a rubber mallet. Started right up. I carry a rubber mallet in the truck now."

    Anonymous, MT (2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 5.3-L V8)
