Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Bold. Strong. Premium. That’s how Chevrolet describes the 2027 Silverado’s exterior. While nobody would call the 2026 Silverado wimpy-looking (save F-150 and Ram owners, perhaps), the redesigned truck builds on its burly looks. The U-shaped LED daytime running lights are larger, the grille is more pronounced, and off-road-ready features—like tow hooks and skid plates—are highly visible. Chevrolet says the wheel-opening moldings and rocker treatments are more pronounced.

Each trim is differentiated by its own front fascia and lighting, while still recognizable as a Chevy Silverado.

Highlights of the line include

• ZR2 - 35-inch MT (mud terrain) tires, a 2-inch lift, standard front and rear locking differentials, and an off-road suspension.
• ZR2 Bison Edition - distinctive bumpers, rocker-panel protection, 18-inch beadlock wheels, and additional skid plates
• Trail Boss - 34-inch MT tires, a 2-inch lift, and an off-road hood treatment.
• High Country - 22-inch premium wheels, darker trim elements, a satin-color grille, and updated badging.
• Silverado 4WD - standard Z71 suspension package, skid plates, and an off-road suspension.
• Custom - dual exhaust, 34-inch tires, 20-inch gray wheels, and a 2-inch lift.
  

In short, if you like how the 2026 Silverado looks, you’ll like the 2027.

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado offers a similar digital screen experience to what we’ve seen in other new and redesigned GM products. Each trim comes standard with a 16.3-inch center display and a 12.2-inch driver information center display. The ZR2 and High Country trims come with a standard 11.5-inch screen for the front passenger. Adding in the rear camera mirror gives customers the ability to “experience over 60 inches of digital displays,” according to Chevrolet.

Highlights of the interior include available dual wireless charging pads and a configurable center console.

Trim-specific details include

• ZR2 - torch-red accents and rear carbon-fiber trim on the doors and console.
• Trail Boss - two different interior themes, and torch red-edged seat belts.
• High Country - tan-edged seat belts, real wood trim, satin accents, custom seat treatments, and available micro-suede materials.

While it appears that some climate controls remain physical buttons and knobs, the array is far smaller than in the current Silverado, meaning that some features will be operated via touch controls on the center screen.

Four engines will be offered in the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado a 5.7-liter V8, a 6.6-liter V8, a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel six-cylinder. All will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet didn’t reveal power outputs in the initial announcement. But in the 2026 Silverado 1500

• The 5.3-liter V8 makes 355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque.
• The current 6.2-liter V8 makes 420 hp and 460 lb.-ft.
• The 3.0-liter turbodiesel makes 305 hp and 495 lb.-ft.
• The 2.7-liter turbo makes 310 hp and 430 lb.-ft.

We assume that the new engines will meet or beat the specs on the outgoing models.

There’s little information from the automaker on the active safety features in the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado. The 2026 model comes standard with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane departure warning, while blind spot warning and rear cross traffic warning are optional. We hope that these last two features are made standard with the redesign.

GM’s Super Cruise active driving assistance system will be available and will feature hands-free driving while towing. The system will come with a free three-year OnStar trial to support Super Cruise functionality.
