To take on the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500, the truck offers three off-road trims of varying capabilityOverview
It’s General Motors’ turn in the truck wars with the unveiling of the redesigned 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The full-sized truck will be offered in a range of configurations, from a stripped-down work truck to off-road-ready and luxury versions, when it goes on sale in late 2026.
Four powertrains will be offered: two V8s, a turbocharged four-cylinder, and a diesel inline six-cylinder. Unlike the current Silverado, only one transmission will be available: a 10-speed automatic.
General Motors announced that the Silverado will be available in seven trims, three of which are lifted for off-road use: the ZR2, Trail Boss, and Custom Trail Boss. The other trims are the High Country, Custom, Work Truck, and Silverado.
Here’s what we know so far.
It competes with the Ford F-150, GMC Sierra 1500, Ram 1500, and Toyota Tundra.
There are four engines: a 5.7-liter V8, a 6.6-liter V8, a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel six-cylinder. Each engine is mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear- or four-wheel drive are available.
Estimated price range is $39,000-$75,000.
The on sale date is late 2026.
