The Tahoe is a large vehicle and you won't forget it while driving. The 2007 redesign brought improved fit and finish for the interior and better brake pedal feel, but didn't set any new standards among large SUVs. Handling is cumbersome, stopping distances are long and fuel economy, though improved, is poor. However, the highway ride is comfortable.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"If low grade gasoline used the car stutters on acceleration"

Patrick R., FL (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"When accelerating hard there is noticeable shutter from the drive train. Braking distance seems somewhat long."

Anonymous, IL (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Our 2008 Tahoe is the Hybrid model and we have been very impressed with the service we have gotten out of the vehicle. It has a great interior and looks good from the outside. The 2 mode hybrid system is wonderful and has yielded overall mileage of 21 mpg all these years. Steady cruising on the highway for long periods of time resulted in over 24 mpg at 70 mph. And I love driving around town on battery only. That is great. It also has the displacement on demand 6.0 liter engine and that is..."

Bruce B., OK (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Nothing beats the power of an 8cylinder engine! Power, handling all keep me feeling great behind the wheel."

Kelly K., NY (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Powerful."

Anonymous, VA (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Hybrid gets very good mileage and good acceleration and ok handliong"

Anonymous, FL (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"It has good power and is very stable to drive"

Anonymous, TN (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Because it is a HYBRID, there is more than adequate acceleration due to the 6.0 L engine and the electric motor assist. I have often been surprised at how well it runs. It does exibit body roll and lean during hard cornering, but it is a truck, after all, so that is to bre expected. We have done a little towing and still got 21+ mpg. Our best mileage has been 24+ mpg during stead highway cruising for long distances."

Bruce B., OK (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"HANDLES WELL DRIVES SMOOTH AND HAS PROWER"

Anonymous, CA (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"The vehicle is very smooth and quiet."

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"It rides a little rough."

Anonymous, TX (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"the seats are cheaply made, they fall apart & have to be repaired, i have redone mine 3 times with extra padding & its not because i am a large person, you would think that somthing that costs so much ,they would put some money in the seats, this still would not stop me from buying another tahoe."

Anonymous, DE (2008 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"We compared all of the suv vehicles. This suv had the best turning radius, softest ride, most quite and the most comfortable. I have had several back surgeries and this was important."
