This revised version of the Tahoe has its good points, but the SUV remains a big hulk that handles clumsily and thirsts for gasoline. On the upside, it delivers readily available power, rides pretty well, its cavernous cabin stays quiet and it offers generous second-row seating. The six-speed automatic transmission also brings some improvement in acceleration and fuel economy. Towing heavy loads is another forte.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"overall handles well when comparing to previously owned 2001 tahoe"

Anonymous, CT (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"The 2014 Chevy Tahoe, with the 5.7L engine provides good acceleration for entering highways and passing. It provides a very smooth travel experience."

Jeffrey P., NC (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"A perfect balance of engine, transmission, and suspension."

Anonymous, NY (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Handles well for a large vehicle and very comfortable ride, very nice for long trips. Much better gas mileage compared to our 2004 Tahoe (17 vs. 14.1) thanks to 6 speed transmission but despite higher horsepower claims and better transmission seems UNDERpowered/have to mash it to get it to go. My wife loves the seating height. We put 175,000 mils on our previous 2004 Tahoe with only around $1,700 total repair costs; hope this one does as well."

Anonymous, AZ (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Very practical for living on the mountain in the winter months. Often Vehicle is great in the snow and putting on chains is easy; easy to hook-up a trailer when needed. Vehicle can be under powered at higher speeds."

Michael H., VA (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"It rides nice and the third seat gives us plenty of room for passengers. Additionally, the way the seats fold down, it gives us lots of room for cargo,"

Westrum D., MN (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Road noise is BAD!"

Anonymous, LA (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"ac in seats good"

Anonymous, CT (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Seats, low noise level st speed, great visibility - a great auto for long road trips,"

Anonymous, NY (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Wind noise at highway speeds. Auto-lift tailgate failed leading to an expensive (>$1000) repair."

Anonymous, VA (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"The seats are full adult size and very comfortable and is one reason we purchased a 2014. Newer models' seats seem so hard and not comfortable for longer rides."

Jeffrey P., NC (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"The seats are horrible on long drives. Very uncomfortable."

Anonymous, CO (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"3rd row still small, as I get older the removable seats also seem heavier. Ride is very comfortable & quiet."

Anonymous, AZ (2014 Chevrolet Tahoe)
