This big SUV, which is built on a full-sized pickup chassis, seems like a throwback in a world where nearly every other SUV is now based on a carlike unibody structure. It's a virtual twin of the GMC Yukon and essentially a shorter version of the Chevrolet Suburban, with a 20-inch shorter length and about 24 cubic feet less cargo room.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"Very solid at highway speeds"

Robert I., FL (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"love it"

Anonymous, VA (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Acceleration is good. Smoothness of ride is outstanding. Cabin is very quite. This is no sports care but does what is designed for in an excellent manner."

John R., SC (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Handles very well on the road"

Anonymous, TN (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Long hesitation when transmission needs to downshift."

Patrick P., TX (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"It is just a sluggish vehicle. We bought a mode with the towing package (larger ratio rear end gear for better throttle response & towing, but slightly worse mileage) and I still think it is too sluggish. I realize it is one of the heaviest vehicles on the road, but with a V8, and that poor of fuel economy, you should get better throttle response."

Anonymous, AR (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"accelerater has a bit of lag time"

Randy M., NH (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Smooth and responsive. I love driving it"

Terry P., CO (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Great acceleration, handling and suspension"

Anonymous, MI (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"There is a lot of air noise in the cabin when all windows are cloed"

John W., CT (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Ventilation and heat in front seats and heat in second row seats are great. Would prefer to also have ventilation in second row seats. Third row seats are too small for adults. Leather thickness on front seats is too thin. In less than two years, the leather for the seat trim on the front seats (used most) is worn off in certain areas."

Jeffrey S., TX (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Heat and cooled"

Anonymous, TN (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Very quiet, good road visibility"

Robert I., FL (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"it is a very well built vehicle and a very comfortable ride."

Anonymous, GA (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Very comfortable. Seats are supportive in the right places. Climate control works great. AC in seats is wonderful."

John R., SC (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Could be more comfortable."

Joan D., NM (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Seat adjustments make it possible to adjust for short rides or long vacation trips. Very quiet with very little road noise."

Anonymous, MI (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Seats are very good - noise level is very low - the ride is quite good in spite of being a truck-based vehicle"

Anonymous, IL (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Large seats."

Eric B., KS (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Overall very comfortable ride"

Anonymous, SC (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Quite, I'm disappointed it doesn't have cooled (a/c) seats especially since it cost so much. GM is always leaving something out to force the consumer to spend more money on the next trim level to get an option. I have a Tahoe and a Silverado Highcountry, both 2016's probably the last GM vechiles I will buy."

Anonymous, TX (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Bought 2016 in 2017. 15% discount off sticker price and 0% financing"

John W., CT (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"I got this car at the end of this model year run on a significant (>$8k ) markdown. It was a good deal for the vehicle, but it is an enormous amount of money for this vehicle. It is probably worth it if you tow a trailer, but otherwise a crossover is probably a better choice than a Tahoe. If you truly need the space though, a Suburban would be the smarter choice. For only ~$1k more you get significantly more space. There have been family trips in the Tahoe where I wish I had bought the Suburban for the cargo capacity. Even with the 3rd row folded down, the Tahoe cargo area is not large enough for my family of 4."

Anonymous, AR (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"I get great gas mileage for a full size SUV - 23 mpg"

Thomas L., TN (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"no problems so far"

Anonymous, VA (2016 Chevrolet Tahoe)
