2018 Chrysler Pacifica Owner Satisfaction - Consumer Reports
Going back as far as 1984 with the debut of the Dodge Caravan, Chrysler ruled the family-hauling roost for many years. But the march of time proved challenging, as knockoffs from Honda and Toyota surpassed the original. Now, Chrysler is back with a vengeance.

What Owners Say

"The car handles very well. Accelerates quickly, and the braking is spot on point."

Anonymous, MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The acceleration in the hybrid pacifica is great - much better than I expected. I generally do not like passing vehicles on a 2-lane highway, but the van has very good pickup and I don't worry so much now about passing other vehicles, especially semi's."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"I have had several chrysler minivans over the years and have enjoyed them but this one is a true delight. It accelerates quickly and silently and never seems pushed. On top of all that it gets great gas mileage and around town is all electric."

Anonymous, MO (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Acceleration good, handles good 19 mpg city & 31 highway and easy to drive."

Michael M., SC (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The driving experience is great. Smooth, quiet but powerful. Handles well. Best of all, the vehicle can stil maintain decent level of urban performance in electric mode."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The electric motor has a nice to acceleration and is fun to drive."

Anonymous, MN (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"It really handles nicely on full electric mode. Good and smooth acceleration. In hybrid mode driving at highway speeds is fine, but I am still getting used to the delay in moderate and slow speed operation and the fact that engine speed does not really match what I expect from regular cars."

Anonymous, IL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"To clarify, I have Pacifica HYBRID. Love the electric acceleration and smoothness! Plenty of power and torque without using gas. Also, this is why my MPG is so high - 31."

Gerald G., IL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Acceleration is too fast when using adaptive cruise. The hybrid engine will turn on and go to full throttle when the lane ahead opens up. This can occur with a completely cold engine."

Anonymous, WI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Handles well for its size, acceleration is iffy!"

Bob S., CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Smoothness Good control ACC and emergency braking effectiveness Good stability at freeway speed."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"In all-electric mode, torque is outstanding - very quick getaway from stop lights. In hybrid mode, excellent acceleration and control. The Automatic Cruise Control inspires confidence; ACC is especially useful when traffic bunches up on the highway. Tight turning radius is commendable, especially for a large vehicle."

Gerald E., DE (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The only thing I don't like about this vehicle is the fact that it shuts off the engine every time you stop. You can turn it off, but you have to remember to turn it off every time you start the car. The default should be off not on."

William R., TX (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Transmission shifting-excellent Ride-very good Driving and parking assists-good Engine performance-very good"

Anonymous, PA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The car shuts off when I stop for anything, traffic light, person, animal, etc. I have a button that I can push when I start to drive but I often forget until I hear it shut off. This is a nuisance."

Anonymous, MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"GreAt comfortable and quiet ride"

Anonymous, IN (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"It handles and steers well, acceleration is good, but the gas pedal is a little touchy for me."

Anonymous, MD (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Car drives very well and accelerates and brakes well. Really like the electric mode as its quiet and accelerates well by itself in all but the most demanding conditions. On an extended trip of 1500 miles with no plug-in I got 31 mpg while driving 75 mph (maybe a little more!)"

Anonymous, IL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The driving experience is the best of the mini vans we tested. It handled better than our previous van and feels so stable."

Robert P., IL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The hybrid's electric engine has so much torque that car feels extremely quick from a stop. The blend of power between the electric and gas motors is almost seamless, and certainly not something you give much thought to. For the size and weight of this car, it handles and accelerates extremely well. It's actually kind of fun to drive."

Jeffrey C., ON (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Acceleration in all electric mode is impressive. The start and stop functionality of the gasoline V6 is unobtrusive. The ride is smooth on all but the roughest roads. While the handling is hardly sporty, body roll when turning is well controlled. And a surprisingly small turning circle is a real plus when parking."

John W., CT (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"All around driving it’s great, however in the mountains going downhill you cannot downshift and must use the brakes a lot"

Thomas K., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Outstanding; driving, acceleration, and handling!!!"

Charl H., NC (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Has very good acceleration. It handles very well. The included safety features, backup camera, blind spot detectors, backup alert, etc., all make driving safer, And my auto insurance actually went down $40/month because of them."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"It has plenty of power and handles great."

Stephen S., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The nine speed transmission and 3.5L engine gives excellent acceleration. The handling is very nimble for this size vehicle."

James, MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Cruise control does not operate as well as previous Chrysler models even after having it adjusted after recall. Transmission does not allow vehicle to immediately slow down when foot is taken off accelerator during normal driving."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"transmission and engine work wonderfully together. I always seems to be in the correct gear."

Anonymous, MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"great acceleration for a vehicle this size, handles very well on curvy roads"

Anonymous, MN (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Unlike previous Town&Country, the transmission does not allow manual gear selection. The owners manual says to use LOW for long mountain downhills. But this is not good enough for Colorado Mountains. Shifting to LOW Accelerates 2 to 4 mph as the engine is brought up to 4,000 rpm Before transmission shifts to N. Then it more or less freewheels with little engine braking. On the interstate it would coast increasing speed as it went downhill up to 80 mph. Applying brakes for 10 to 15 seconds would finally cause transmission to engage and start engine braking. Applying brakes is not good in Colorado mountains. Engine braking should engage when shifted into LOW."

Anonymous, IN (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"I was hit from behind resulting in a 4-car pileup. The Pacifica handled beautifully in the crash, not only keeping me safe, but likely keeping those ahead of me from being hurt, by absorbing the force. Handling in a crash is wonderful!"

Frances C., AL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"the handling is very smooth and responsive. the ride is nice and accelerates nicely for entering highways. does NOT drive like a minivan."

Anonymous, MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Outstanding safety features"

R G., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Great acceleration, sometimes it seems that the CVT has to hunt for a gear when accelerating from a stop. Can be abrupt in starting from a stop, especially in reverse. The Engine Stop/Start feature is scary when starting from a stop on hills or slight uphill grades...rolling backwards with an automatic transmission is bad! Normally drive with this feature off."

Anonymous, OR (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Handling is good. Turns and turning is easy to complete because the turn radius is good. Parking is good because of the cameras and mirrors plus built in assistance very helpful."

Doris B., PA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The start/stop feature does not operate seamlessly. Sometimes the restart is not quick enough to make a left turn crossing in front of approaching traffic. I've learned to pull my foot from the brake and place it again to assure that the engine is running when I want to accelerate."

Craig M., NC (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Responsive, quiet ride."

Anonymous, OH (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Both acceleration and handling are very good. Nice balance between power and fuel efficiency."

Vanessa R., FL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Seems quick and light on its feet for a car so big. Seems like it is always in the right gear, unlike the Sonata Hybrid"

Anonymous, CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Acceleration and handling surprisingly good. The stop engine feature takes getting used to."

David I., MD (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Great turning radius, quiet, smooth feel, good acceleration."

K D., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Drives like a sedan, easy handling, smooth ride & brisk acceleration."

Donald B., CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The acceleration is very good and handling is very good. I own a luxury car also and for the size of the Pacifica it is very good."

Anonymous, MO (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Acceleration better than Dodge Caravan"

Anonymous, OH (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"We mainly drive this car on the highway the gas mileage is much better than the rating. Rated mileage is 29 and we regularly get 31-32. I am amazed at the gas mileage and the range we get from a tank of gas."

Anonymous, OH (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Very quiet and smooth ride."

Anonymous, MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Quiet, smooth ride. Warming or cooling seats are good. Saved seat setting is usually accurate."

Doris B., PA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Very quiet and comfortable ride"

Anonymous, WI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Very quiet vehicle. The steering wheel telescopes in addition to changing height. Very comfortable ride."

James, MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Love the ride. The hybrid is very smooth and comfortable on a long trip."

Anonymous, MN (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Love the interior. Seats are very comfortable, and the ride is very smooth. I like the adaptive speed control - when you're on the highway the car almost drives itself (with the help of the lane guidance system."

Anonymous, MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The seats are very comfortable; the ride is very quiet due to the noise cancellation. I don't have to have the radio up as loud to hear the nuances of my music; I can tell because I can listen to it for a longer drive without getting a headache from the volume level. And, the gas mileage has been better than expected--approx. 26 mpg combined, and 34 mpg on the highway!"

Reid F., MN (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The seats are very comfortable overall. Although I perceived that the seats in our 2014 Highlander (recently disposed of) were more comfortable, my touchy back is doing better in the Pacifica. The ride is good, although I find the accelerator too sensitive off a standing start and not sensitive enough when passing or climbing. The car is noisier than I would have expected for a vehicle in this price range."

Richard R., OH (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Outstanding; the seats, noise, and ride !!!"

Charl H., NC (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The front seats are very comfortable with ample adjustments. The seat cooling function is particularly good. The and second row captains chairs (hybrid = not stow and go) are very comfortable."

John W., CT (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Very comfortable seats, very low noise level and great ride."

Katherine H., CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"It is the quietest car I have ever driven and the seats and ride are so comfortable!!"

John D., PA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Headrest tilt for front passenger is very uncomfortable. Especially for short people."

Robert S., WI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Front seats are comfortable. Middle seats are a little narrow. The ride is very good. Road and wind noise is low."

Anonymous, MN (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Seats are comfortable, but my wife, who is shorter, thinks the headrests are too far forward."

Anonymous, MD (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Very impressed with the overall quality of this PEV. Everything I would expect from a vehicle. Ride, handling, ease of seats folding into the floor. Even the mid captains are very simple to pull out and re-attach. It's like they want the mini van to make a come back, a fellow employee that I work with just traded in his suburban with his family of 6 and he loves it also."

Robert A., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The fold in the floor back seats are a very useful feature. The seats are not the most comfortable, but trading folding for comfort is a good trade-off."

Joy H., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The seats are heated and cooled a plus in Houston, TX weather. Cabin is quite and all controls are in reach."

Nicholas F., TX (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The Pacifica has a very smooth ride even around corners. The seats, in all three sections, are very comfortable and getting into the back seats is very easy. The deciding factor in buying this vehicle was the ability for almost all the seats to be folded into the floor. (With the exception of a small in-between seat in the second row.) We do not have a garage and we are older folks. Taking out and putting back seats when we need to use the vehicle for cargo is out of the question. So, we are very happy with the utility and comfort of the vehicle."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The car does not have a driver’s side memory seat, which is a fairly basic option and should be included at this price. The lack of memory is most annoying on long trips when two people are taking turns driving."

Vanessa R., FL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Best seats of any minivan we tested, plus the ONLY passenger seat that was as adjustable as the driver's, at any cost."

A C., WA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Seats are a bit too firm. Loved seats in 2001 T&C Limited. Seats in 2013 T&C Limited were softer (better) than 2018."

Gerald G., IL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Seats are a bit firm. 2nd row seats need more legroom"

Anonymous, WI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Comfortable seating and east seat stowing Ride superior to previous model"

Anonymous, PA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"We have leased 8 different mini vans. This one has is the quietest and best riding of all of them."

Stephen S., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The ride (suspension) is very noisy over bumps and ruts."

Dennis D., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"We tried toyota, honda and chrysler. We selected chrysler because the seats were significantly more comfortable."

Anonymous, OH (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Front driver and passenger seats hug the body in turns. Ventilation within the front seat cushions cools the body fast in hot weather. Plenty of headroom and legroom, front row and second row. Ride is ultra smooth. Very quiet cabin."

Gerald E., DE (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The Pacifica is one of the quietest cars we have had and it rides much better than any of the other vans we tested."

Robert P., IL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"I like the multi function on the seat controls to have a more level drivers seat. These are also available on the passenger seat. It is a quiet ride."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Very noisy. Vehicle was modified for wheelchair access (floor lowered). Front trim is too low, and vehicle makes major noise on every possible bump."

Daniel B., IL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"It’s quiet, comfortable, smooth, and I sit up higher than a car so I can see the road ahead... Great for long road trips"

Anonymous, MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Much less road noise than my 2016 Town & Country & much smoother ride and handling"

J R M., MO (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The seats and ride are very comfortable, however the noise level with all the windows closed is high in my opinion."

Anthony C., NY (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"When using the battery only in the Plug-in Pacifica, the interior is serene. Very quiet, no vibration, and radar cruise control makes it excellent for daily commute with kids and long drives."

Anonymous, WA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Seat comfort and leg room in first and 2nd rows. 3rd row seating is not bad and has comparatively good leg room."

C H., AZ (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Very comfortable I have a bad back and the seats make long rides very enjoyable."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"seats need to be more comfortable. They are hard on the butt on a long journey."

Anonymous, AL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The interior of my Chrysler Pacifica is a very light color. And it is leather for the seats. I live in a very hot climate and I appreciate that very much. I like the look of the interior, I think it’s very pretty."

Katharine J., NV (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The front seat headrests are too far forward and are not comfortable."

Anonymous, IL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The folding seats are great, very easy to use."

Charles S., CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Very silent car. easy to drive and really comfortable seats. Huge space for cargo. Generally the ease of use of the car."

Anonymous, QC (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Such a comfortable car for long family road trips. It's quiet so you can talk without shouting at each other. The seats are comfortable for hours (we have the top-end leather seats with ventilation - first time I've had that and I can't believe how great it is!) The ride is smooth and well controlled without too much body role. Love taking trips in this car."

Jeffrey C., ON (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"I am short (5'1") so the driver seat needs to be high. It makes it hard to reach the gas pedal. If i move the seat up closer to the steering wheel it could be dangerous in the event of a crash."

Anonymous, NC (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"I got the ventilated seats and they are so comfortable. They really cool me down after entering the vehicle on a 110 degree day. The noise level, especially in EV mode, is so quiet. I have had several friends tell me how comfortable the vehicle is"

Anonymous, AZ (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Seats are bit hard for long distance drive. They can be better like Toyata Sienna. The vehicle does make noise when accelerating, during engine refresh and vehicle start from stop. The ride quality is very good."

Amaresh P., ON (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Seats are very comfortable and the vented seats are nice. The ride is very comfortable and the handling is very good.Very little noise especially in the electric mode."

Anonymous, IL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"original seats were cloth; we had them redone in leather for two reasons - it's slicker and easier to get in and out on and is easier to clean if need be the only negative Is that the seats are located further in toward the center of the vehicle which causes a bit of difficulty for some"

Anonymous, LA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"vehicle ride is excellent, particularly on longer trips, minimal wind noise, and ride is smooth"

Anonymous, MN (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The Pacifica has even more features than I knew about when I purchased it. Pacifica has more features that I knew about when I purchased it."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The quality of materials is good except for some plastic trim that seems cheap. The plug-in system works well and I can go two days round trip to work on one charge. I have used only 6 gallons of gas in 8 months and nearly two thousand miles."

Anonymous, NV (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"This vehicle was purchased for two reasons, my wife is an artist who paints large canvas works and this van just swallows them up. The other is I am a Hybrid believer owning the first Civic Hybrid 2003, a 2005 Prius 346,000 miles until it lost a cell, then a 2012 Prius V for the wife and a 2013 Prius 5 that I am currently driving 162 miles round trip to work. All were great cars. I hope Chrysler did their homework on this PEV. So far we love it. Its been to NY and back to Michigan 2 times to haul paintings, staying only in hotels that over charging stations. Right now the vehicle is driven locally the most. thus 70% of the time just electric is used. I used to own an operate a van conversion manufacturing for the big 3. They have taken so many things that used to unique to the Custom vans and put them on their rides now. TV monitors, vacuums, pull out seats etc. They put me out of business but, have come a long way to give people what they want."

Robert A., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The car with the stow away seats is fabulous...love the styling and interior how it looks. The detailing is great."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"If a van suits your needs a Pacifica is the Best"

Thomas K., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"great value for the size & comfort of this car."

Donald B., CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"You get most of the features of a luxury auto such as Lexus or BMW for half the price. The best vehicle I have ever owned."

J R M., MO (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Good electric range, good fuel economy in gasoline mode."

K D., MI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Went thru costco saved thousands."

T S., WI (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"This is the only Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) minivan on the market, with a fantastic EV range of 35 miles before the gas engine takes over. We are getting phenomenal mileage. Plus, it looks good , has the best seats of any minivan we tried, and the ONLY passenger seat that adjusted as much as the driver's side. I'm almost 50 and I never thought I'd own a Chrysler product, but this has certainly convinced me otherwise."

A C., WA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"I was very satisfied relative to value and cost I paid. Iam not happy with the wind noise it has!!!!!"

Anonymous, IA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The new Chrysler Pacifica is amazing vehicle with 8 passengers and driving, handling and easy of use. We use it for 6 adults and for grandchildren and adults and it is so flexible and comfortable. We looked at Honda vans and Toyota vans and we settled on the Pacifica. Honda and Toyota have very good products. The drivetrain is excellent and handling for the size of vehicle is very good. The price compared to other is vans with the options wanted were similar. This van and I have said many times is a "amassing technological vehicle"."

Anonymous, MO (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"I lowered lease costs by nearly $100/mo, have Sto-and-go seats, Apple CarPlay, and more."

David I., MD (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"I think they are over priced"

Anonymous, TX (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"We got the Bells and whistle take we were looking for in the packe the manufacturer offered in this model. For our age many safety features to assist us as we drive."

Bruce M., GA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The Pacifica is significantly cheaper than the comparable Toyota and the styling and use of interior space is better in the Pacifica. The fold flat seats are the most important item for us."

Anonymous, VA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Good price compared to other minivans"

"Bruan handicap side ramp wheel chair conversion. very happy with conversion. Would have kept 2014 Buick enclave best SUV ever owned bought 3 Buick SUV's new very happy with all three. Wife had stroke"

Dan L., IA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"For the Pacifica Plug-In, the federal tax rebate makes it lower cost than the gas version plus I get the yearly $500-$800 gas savings by charging overnight at home form a 110v outlet."

Anonymous, WA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"Excellent value made a last minute deal on the last day of June which met my conditions. The dealer called me to meet their quota for the end of the first half of their fiscal year. Would have never gotten this deal if not for that. Best time to trade for value."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"I got a good deal by using cargurus and the Pacifica Hybrid Facebook page. I contacted the dealer via email and he keep his word on the price quoted. With the plug in capability and the tax credit, this vehicle is a very good value. I don’t need to get the “best‿ deal but do want to be within 90% of best deals being quoted by others. I was able to do that."

Anonymous, AZ (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"The hybrid version is great! Most of my local journeys are entirely electric, but I can still drive 600 miles in a day. Even when using gas, its ability to recover energy when breaking or decelerating is fantastic! Adaptive cruise control, auto dimming headlights, emergency breaking, and rain-reactive wipers are also great!"

William F., MD (2018 Chrysler Pacifica)

"I got an extra $1,000 off MSRP plus a $7,500 dollar tax credit and a $2,500 dollar check from Texas TERP plan of the TCEQ that is with a $3,000 dealer off MSRP and will save on gas with a 566 mile range and over 88 MPG I am happy."
