This version of the Chrysler Town & Country is far better than the model it replaced. Still, despite some notable features, they didn’t rise to the level needed to compete against better models from Japan and South Korea. We tested the high-end Town & Country Limited. Safety features added with this model include standard stability control and curtain airbags. The ride has also been improved.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Poorly calibrated for brisk acceleration. I can't drive it moderately as is my preference. Revs to over 3000 rpm in every gear! Way too high."

David D., MI (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The T&C has tight steering, exceptional brakes, surprising acceleration with the 4.0L overhead cam engine and when pushed its normal around town quiet exhaust note has a growl that is satisfying to an old car enthusiast like me. My third vehicle is an RX-7 Turbo so I know performance!"

Jon C., VA (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Acceleration and handling is decent for a minivan, but the mileage is terrible for a modern vehicle... though I don't want to lose performance for better mileage, which I believe is possible today."

Anonymous, MT (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"great"

James H., OH (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Handling and acceleration (see above) are very good for a large minivan."

Anonymous, IN (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We have named ours chunky. The acceleration is slow, the transmission is clunky and slow. Braking could be better as well. You really have to stomp the pedals in this car."

Anonymous, TN (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Adequate power"

Anonymous, NC (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Handling has good feel of the road. Acceleration is very good in tight spot."

James H., OH (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Good power-- very good safety on lane changes"

Anonymous, WI (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Great family car."

THEODORE D., NJ (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Acceleration with the 4.0L engine is exceptional. The ride is smooth and handles like a car, even when loaded. The brakes are the best of any car I have owned, with the exception of my Mazda RX-7 turbo. It also does very well in the snow."

JON C., VA (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"For a minivan, it handles very well, with good acceleration and steering response. By far, the best handling minivan I've driven."

STEVE M., NY (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Can get to interstate speeds quickly. Great acceleration."

PATRICK H., OH (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"1st gear does not slow vehicle enough and you use brake too much to slow down hills."

Anonymous, VT (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We had a problem with the ignition key. The car was recalled but it took forever for Chrysler to get the parts for my car. I filed a complaint with the NNTHSB. Chrysler only acted because of my incessant nagging."

ROB P., VA (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Good power and steering"

JOSEPH K., MI (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Stow and go seating"

Anonymous, IL (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"the seats are comfortable and the height in the car allows me better to see what is in front of me. the ride is good and I have heated seats which I really like in the winter"

Teresa O., LA (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Captains seats and armrests are very comfortable. Vehicle is fairly quiet for it's size. 2nd row seats are not the Stow N Go version so they are comfortable as well. Tons of leg room and storage space."

Anonymous, ON (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The interior feels luxurious and the seats are very comfortable. The interior is spacious and quiet."

Anonymous, TN (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Love everything about this car (my fourth) except it doesn't seal out outside road noise as well as I wish."

Anonymous, WA (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"good function Stow N Go seating, I very often need to haul things that require the seats to be stored in the floor. Stow N Go is the main reason I bought this van."

JEROLD S., WI (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Third row seating in not comfortable."

Anonymous, MO (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Would have been very satisfied if it had automatic climate control like my previous town and country"

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Value wise, a van is not a great purchase. it works great for me."

Keith S., CT (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The options (i.e. electric door and trunk) are very useful and convenient. The remote start is very helpful in the winter and in summer. The rear video screens are great for the grandchildren on long trips. Over all...a very practical and fun to drive vehicle."

Anonymous, MA (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Overall the town & country has had very little go wrong with it after 210000 miles. I have not had any major repairs done to the drive train or engine"

Anonymous, IL (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Good value for a van that does what a pick up truck will do such has hauling drywall or plywood"

Robert R., MI (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Great vehicle for the price. Tons of convenience features, intuitive navigation and voice calling features. Blind spot monitoring system is awesome for 2009 vintage and in fact better than our new 2018 Ford Escape Titanium owing to the warning chime on signal activation in addition to yellow mirror warning indicator. (The Escape does not provide a chime on lane change turn signal activation)"

Anonymous, ON (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"great ride - handles very well"

Anonymous, WI (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I have good acceleration with the 4.0 engine. I have also gotten as high as 26.2 mpg on trips to and from FL including daily trips to Disney World. Ride comfort is good, but the engine noise during acceleration is bothersome."

Anonymous, IN (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I think the value for this car is good. I negotiated well for this and considering what this car had, it was a good value for the price."

Teresa O., LA (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Good car not may problems Lasted a long time good on gas"

Anonymous, MI (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I got a vehicle that preforms all the functions I expect from a mini-van at a very reasonable price. My wife wanted this vehicle and i am glad I deferred to her wishes. It is a superb trip car and its performance with the 4.0L engine is very surprising."

Jon C., VA (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very reliable. Very few issues. Have full warranty for as long as I own car. No mileage limit."

Anonymous, IL (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Purchased the van in 2009 when discounts were at there greatest."

PATRICK H., OH (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"failed heater hose system, corroded alloy wheels even before factory warrantee ran out. Chrysler refused to do anything for me."

Anonymous, OH (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Great price and reliable"

GERALD L., NJ (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I got almost every option available and at considerably less cost than the competition. It is a very nice trip car with room enough for everything (a 4x8 sheet of plywood will fit flat on the floor). The optional 4.0L engine has great acceleration and the nav system is a snap to use."

JON C., VA (2009 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Always buy with LOAD LEVERING & TOWING PACKAGE TO HAVE A LARGE RADIATOR & NO HEAT PROBLEMS"
