2012 Chrysler Town & Country Owner Satisfaction - Consumer Reports
Chrysler might have invented the modern minivan, but time marched on, leaving this version of the Town & Country feeling dated and past its prime. It’s not that the Town & Country totally lacks good points. Ride is very comfortable and settled. Passengers will also find a quiet, well-equipped cabin that offers considerable versatility.

What Owners Say

"Excellent acceleration and ability to haul stuff is incredible."

Anonymous, WV (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Outstanding."

Wayne W., TN (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I like the large left rear sliding door which will allow the use of a 22 inch wide metal ramp to load or unload a handicap scooter. And the fold down seats which allows the scooter to be loaded."

Fred V., NE (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The 3.6 DOHC Engine is great, smooth, strong with reasonable mileage, no problems."

Stephen T., FL (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Sometimes when I accelerate, it hesitates then it jerks my head back accelerating so fast. I have had this worked on twice. It was a recall repair."

Anonymous, IN (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Acceleration is very poor. I know the car is heavy but the 6 cylinder engine seems under powerdd."

Tom C., OH (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"For such a big vehicle, I like to acceleration and handling, which is more that I excepted with a van."

Paul G., VA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"This minivan is a pleasure to drive. The Pentastar engine is tremendously responsive, even at low engine speeds. It typically returns about 28-30 mpg on the highway, and about 20 mpg, overall. Impressive for such a large, spacious vehicle. the steering is firm and requires very little steering correction. A vehicle with these characteristic is less fatiguing to drive for long periods. The new generation is apparently even better in all these areas. Ownership has been a positive experience."

Dennis R., MI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Accelerator pedal is stiff which makes it difficult to accelerate smoothly. It tends to jerk ahead."

Joseph D., WI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I had never driven such a large vehicle before the purchase of this van. It handles well on the road and is easy to drive It accelerates quickly when needed and the cruise control works well on the highway. The comfort of this van is great and it is fun to drive."

Gloria H., PA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We loved that car. It has what we wanted. We are very disappointed to hear that Chrysler is doing away with their Town and Country versions and only going to make the Grand Caravan and Pacifica. What a waste. We will probably switch to a different brand."

Marsha M., IA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Handling is loose and van seems to make wide turns. Acceleration off the line is gradual."

Amy C., CT (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"it has always pulled to the right."

Charles N., OK (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Nice driving / riding"

Anonymous, IA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

Anonymous, OH (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Carries my power wheelchair with great ease without losing any acceleration, gas mileage and handling problems"

"accelerator is sensitive"

Anonymous, FL (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Good handling"

LAWRENCE S., NC (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

We hate the transmission of the car and the "jerking" felt between gears but overall better designed interior (all controls) than our 2013 Honda Pilot."

Anonymous, VA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The cruise control does not hold at the set speed and has never done so."

Anonymous, PA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

Anonymous, MI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The flexibility of space is very good. We make good use of the Stow & Go and the fold-down rear seats."

Joseph D., WI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Extreme wind/road noise makes good audio worthless. Improperly installed third row seats cause a rattle reminiscent of a 1949 automobile. Fiat/Daimler/Chrysler all get failing marks in this auto's design and performance."

Anonymous, TX (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We have taken many road trips of various lengths/time. Our experience is that the comfort level is so good we do not get tired. The only negative is some wind noise from the sliding door."

Anonymous, NE (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Comfort is great with a quite ride."

Robert M., NE (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

Anonymous, OR (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The seats are uncomfortable. There is too much noise when driving on a highway at speeds above 45. And you can feel every bump in the road."

Anonymous, IN (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Cramped uncomfortable seating"

Anonymous, KS (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Seats are only acceptable, not great, noise is a bit loud inside on the road, ride is acceptable and handeling is very good for what it is."

"Tire noise."

Charles N., OK (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"very much road noise on rough asphalt and old concrete"

Anonymous, WI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

David E., MI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"This has been a very nice vehicle. Very reliable and a very comfortable travel vehicle. Nothing hauls as much stuff and people as a minivan. The steering is firm and the vehicle tracks very well, not requiring a lot of steering correction. The seats are very comfortable. Heated seats and steering wheel are appreciated in northern Michigan. Owning it has been a very positive experience."

Anonymous, MN (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"way too much road noise. The seats are fine"

Lowell H., IA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"To much road noise"

Anonymous, MN (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"firm, comfortable seats, stow & go. low wind noise, firm yet comfortable ride"

Anonymous, OH (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Stow N Go seating is the best thing in a mini van ever. Nothing can compareto its usefulness in any other vehicle."

Anonymous, WI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"First two rows of seats (captain chairs) are comfortable and have extensive adjustment options. The third row bench is terrible for all but kids. Cabin noise and ride are pretty good."

DAVID E., MI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The flexibility and comfort of the seats are one of the major reasons I bought the car."

Anonymous, MN (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I like all aspects of comfort, except wish the ride and feel were more like a luxury car."

DAVID F., LA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very comfortable seating for driver and passenger. Too much road noise developing, same as last T&C and will not be purchasing one again."

Anonymous, WI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Seats are good, climate control is excellent, ride is good, but the body is noisey over bumps and rough roads."

Anonymous, WI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Third row seats are not very comfortable for adults but it is worth the discomfort to have seats that fold into the floor. I LOVE the "Stow and Go" feature and that was a deciding factor when looking at vans. It holds so much cargo and is simple to get the seat down."

SUZANNE P., FL (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Excellent except noisy ride at highway speeds"

DAVID B., WI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The seat headrests are very uncomfortable for long rides, causing neck pain and fatigue."

PATRICK B., FL (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Excessive road/wind noise at higher (highway) speeds. Many body rattles at lower in town speed.Front seat moldings are cheap, have been replaced many times under warranty and are broke now , out of warranty. Ride is harsh. Too many buttons, you need to take eyes off road or pull over to adjust many operations, no tactile fell."

MIKE J., MI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Road noise is loud. Voice recognition for u-connect phone is very poor. Rear seats are not very comfortable for adults."

Anonymous, IL (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Have taken several long trips and always comfortable."

Anonymous, FL (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Good seating and good view."

Curt L., MO (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The front seats on this car are fabulous! Can drive for hours and hours and not get tired!"

Tom C., OH (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Comfort and roominess"

Michael N., MI (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Nice looking car. Poor example for Chrysler Dealers everywhere. Car was delivered with undisclosed damage to third row seat. Later replaced on warranty, but ill fitting condition remains and now out of warranty. In addition road noise at highway speeds makes it impossible to enjoy the XM/Sirius package. There won't be any more Chryslers in this family."

Anonymous, TX (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Plenty of room for people and gear. Seat are well-constructed with good support. Stow & Go configuration is superior to anything made by the competition."

Anonymous, ME (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"It feels like a solid vehicle when driving. I like to sit up high and be able to see out the large windows. I find most cars and even SUV's have too narrow windows from top to bottom."

What Owners Say

"Great gas mileage. Comfortable ride."

Wayne W., TN (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We have not had to make expensive repairs to this vehicle . The van is a 2012 and we have replaced the original tires at about 110000 miles. We have recently replaced the brakes on all four wheels. The van is maintained regularly with oil changes and inspections. We enjoy this van and would happily purchase another."

Gloria H., PA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We intend to keep this van for as near to 10 years as possible and so far it has held up very well with no major service needs."

Romo S., FL (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Poor quality workmanship. This vehicle should have NEVER passed quality control. From date of purchase: Third Row seat replaced as 'worn out'; air control vent fell out - replaced; passenger sun-visor 'broke' - replaced; engine recall - major; window re-tractor: broke/replaced; damage to bumper cover on delivery - repaired; vinyl seating passenger seat separated at seam, and more."

Charles L., MS (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I have had many problems with this van since I bought it The repairs were first covered by warranty, but it was still a hassle getting it into the shop to get it fixed. When the warranty ran out, it's been out of pocket expenses. The GPS has "taken us around the world". . I would not and have not recommended it to anyone."

Anonymous, MS (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We have had 3 T & C's because we have never had to put expensive items in them. They have all only required normal maintenance. The price of the vehicle we have now was fair and we would get another if they were not discontinued. We will probably try the new version."

Marianne V., OH (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Standard equipment and features"

Anonymous, NY (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Good Car outherwise"

Anonymous, MN (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I'm suprised by the amount of features this vehicle offered at a 30,0000.00 dollar pricemail point. Blind spot, navigation, adjustable accelerator and brake, dvd player with 3 screens when including the dash and 4 headphones, and a back up camera, not to mention it can be a cargo van when necessary."

GREG R., IN (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"you get a lot compared to the competitors and the car has been 100% reliable in all weather"

Anonymous, NY (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Dealer going to beat you up. Deal with it."

SAM B., NM (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I've purchased 4 Chrysler/Dodge vans in last several years and have not had a single problem with any of them. The 1st was a Dodge and the last 3 Chrysler T&C. I'm certain the next vehicle I purchase will be a Chrysler Pacifica as the T&C is being discontinued!!!"

T C., AR (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Good price compaired to the Honda Odessey with the same options that I also looked at."

JOSEPH B., NH (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The Town and Country is a very well equipped minivan with many options included that would cost extra in a comparably priced Sienna or Odyssey."

TERRY T., MA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We were pleasantly surprised at the price we paid for the 2012 T&C. It met all of our needs and is comfortable for adults in the back seat. We have traveled across the country multiple times comfortably in it."

RANDELL G., CA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The Town & Country has everything I need for a daily driver. It is a very versatile vehicle. My wife is wheelchair bound and we can accommodate her chair and go anywhere we want. I get 27 miles a gallon on the highway and the ride is comfortable and thanks to the radio travel is enjoyable. I really like the cruise control on long trips."

Larry L., AR (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Best value car I've owned! Don't get anything less than top trim line as we're always disappointed when we rent a T&C and it is missing some feature that we love."

Timothy B., AE (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

Styling

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"I like the looks of the styling, but headrests are more uncomfortable than in my previous 1994 and 2008 Dodge Grand Caravans. There are also less and smaller storage compartments in this 2012."

CAROL L., SD (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Nothing stands out; it's a minivan."

DAVID F., LA (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Attractive for a very functional Mini Van, Good interior lay out and I like the Stow & Go seating"

STEPHEN T., FL (2012 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I just don't like the boxy style. I like the look of the new Pacifica better."
