Chrysler might have invented the modern minivan, but time marched on, leaving this version of the Town & Country feeling dated and past its prime. It’s not that the Town & Country totally lacks good points. Ride is very comfortable and settled. Passengers will also find a quiet, well-equipped cabin that offers considerable versatility.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Nice acceration, and it really handles well. Love driving this car"

James L., MD (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Down shifts too frequently and easily on the highway. Either the gear ratios in the 6 speed transmission (between 5 and 6) are not spaced correctly or it desperately needs the current 8 speed transmission."

Gilbert C., CA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Accelerates like a car, great pickup. Handles like a car too. Perfect on snow, but only after replacing the original Michelin tires with Goodyears."

Mark L., IL (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very fast acceleration with excellent steering and brake response. Surprised mpg is so high, especially the 26 mpg on highway."

NORRIS H., GA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Driving on any incline it must down shift to maintain the speed set by the cruise control. It is geared high to improve the gas mileage."

R H., IA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"For a boxy car, it accelerates and drives very smoothly. It is easy to drive on the road. The transmission seems to have trouble deciding which gear to go into when in heavy traffic."

Anonymous, VA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very peppy!"

JIM Q., ON (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Nice ride but clunky transmission"

Anonymous, PA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"stepping on the gas pedal, sometime it sticks and then races away -- the mileage is only 16 (very poor) in town and 24 to 26 (good) on the interstate. it need to expand the leg room between the 2nd and 3rd seats"

JAMES F., IA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Acceleration is awesome with the 3.6 engine. I regularly pull a 2000+ pound trailer with a Harley inside from Michigan to Florida and cruise through the mountain areas no problem whatsoever. Better more comfortable traveling than previous pick ups and better mileage."

Anonymous, MI (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"When passing it does not shift as it should and the acceleration is slow"

Anonymous, WI (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"good acceleration, a little bit of a lack of smoothness in the ride, a little bit noisy in the cabin. It is not a Mercedes at all, but I did not pay for a luxury car"

Anonymous, MO (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Stow n go - fantastic Remote doors and tailgate - fantastic Ride -very comfortable Fantastic pickup and go"

RON G., GA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"shifting seems hard and has trouble deciding what gear it wants"

Anonymous, PA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Firstm of all - this one handles better than our previous T&C, but I have heard that the new Pacifica has better handling and control. a big box is always somewhat unweildy."

IRIS C., AZ (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"very good"

Anonymous, MN (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Engine rev is high to get power. High rev to climb small hills. It will do it but makes noise. Working hard."

Anonymous, AL (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Cruise control does not always work. The push button automatic door closing systems do not always work. Blue tooth does not work."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"It handles the way I like for a vehicle to handle."

J F., WI (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The suspension is only adequate damping vertical motion and is inadequate damping horizontal motion."

Anonymous, MA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Lousy transmition- electronic down shifting has trouble determining what gear to shift to. Too much delay in down-shifting."

RICHARD A., FL (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I don't like the transmission in this vehicle because it doesn't downshift smoothly in passing gear, and downshifts too much on hills. It sounds like the engine might explode when downshifting."

MARK J., TN (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"satisfied"

William K., OH (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"bad thing is the model in unavailable"

Anonymous, CT (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Engine makes peak power in high RPMs, needing revs to get going, but very powerful for a minivan. Throttle tip-in is too touchy. Engine likes to redline when passing on the highway."

Anonymous, NM (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I drive many roads with curves and it delights me to see SUV's and sedans falling behind on a windy road. Most drivers don't know how to corner."

R A., RI (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"My husband feels it is slow to respond and then jumps when it does. He is comparing to the suburban. I have only had it hesitate occadionally and some jumping if I shift gear from reverse to drive too quickly."

Anonymous, MN (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Transmissiom is unrefined in shifting down on hills"

Anonymous, NJ (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Transmission could be smoother"

Philip L., NC (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Acceleration"

Cynthia C., TX (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Hesitant when accelerating."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Pros: Acceleration is good. Handling on the road and city driving is good. Con: The deep nose of the car presents viewing problems. I cannot see the lower front end of my car. This is especially problematic with short obstacles when I am close to them. For example, trying to park the car in a lot which has those little curbs at the front of each parking space (many shopping centers have them) is very difficult for me. The lower front end of my van is completely marred up because I have run into the little curbs so many times because I couldn't see them. I don't know that I am on them until I hear the scratch and crunch noises. If Chrysler had to pay each time it happens, the designers would come up with something new."

Anonymous, TX (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Have had no problems driving/handling this vehicle!"

Anonymous, IL (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Best acceleration of any vehicle I ever owned. Handles great!"

Jim Q., ON (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The Van handles itself on the highway with great ease."

Henry E., TX (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Has a lot of power and Acceleration"

Anonymous, FL (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very good acceleration. Average handling."

Anonymous, OK (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"This van has exceeded my expectations in it's handling and gas mileage. I'm getting 24mpg average. It also has good acceleration for passing."

Carl H., WI (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Transmission shifting at high speeds"

Anonymous, IL (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Smooth ride, very comfprtable"

Anonymous, VA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Acceleration abrupt due to stiffness in gas pedal that I can't get adjusted out (in relation to the angle of my foot?) Handles well for a van but the steering leans a little to oversteer"

Anonymous, PA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The automatic transmission final ratio is feeble and the frequent downshifting forces the motor to very high RPM and very loud noise which has caused us to abandon this vehicle for long distance travel."

Gerald L., MA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Comfort and ride are great. Cabin is plush and well finished."

Anonymous, GA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Sits high, very comfortable. Can dive the car for hours without needing a break.Very little noise for a van. Amazing."

Mark L., IL (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The leather sets are very comfortable on long trips and there are enough power adjustments to keep every driver happy. Was not especially happy with the road noise until I replaced the original tires with Michelins. Now I realize that most of the road noise was really tire noise. It's still not as quiet as my newer F150 Ford pickup but as big as the interior is it's acceptable to me. The excellent stereo system also helps cover up the interior noise."

David F., TN (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"A bit more road noise than I expected from the premium mini-van;"

Don G., FL (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Drivers seat could be a little lower. Road noise is high on certain pavements. Ride over rough pavement is stiff, and noise from rear suspension is high on bumps."

J L., SC (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The car is VERY road noisy when you are driving down the interstate."

Anonymous, OK (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Loads of insulation to thwart road noise, but close proximity to the roadway allows some to get through. Not bad. Windows keep out the weather. A very sound investment and one I would do again. I would consider a Pacific in the future."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very comfortable lumbar support. Very roomy and has a nice ride."

JERRY M., MD (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Rides really well; feels like a regular car."

Anonymous, KS (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Seats are very hard and uncomfortable on long trips"

Anonymous, PA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The material and color on the seats are awful, stain easy."

KARL S., AZ (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Problem with front driver seat broken and loose."

Anonymous, MI (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"This vehicle is not equipped with memory sating and not available for 2013 eve by putting a new seat in 2 drivers are very different in height."

DONALD C., FL (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Plenty of space for people and stuff. To boot the stow and go seats are a brilliant asset to be able to drive somewhere with them down and still have the seats with us for when the van is emptied."

JOSEPH K., NJ (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Road noise on some highways that need to be repaved."

J L., SC (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Quiet, good driving position, handling"

Anonymous, MN (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"A little loud at highway speeds"

Anonymous, IL (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Seats are not comfortable. They could do with more padding. Don't like the material, leather feels too slippery & seat does not support your back. Not great for long distance driving."

Anonymous, AZ (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"On hot days the AC fan is very loud and we have to raise the volume on the radio and the alarms are hard to hear."

Anonymous, TX (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"A lot of road noise drowns out radio. Difficult to have a conversation over the vibration of road noise."

Anonymous, IN (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Both driver and passenger seats have extensive adjustments including height adjustments."

Anonymous, MI (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very noisy, city and highway driving. Sorry I don't have memory seat. I'm short so the seat is close to steering wheel and up higher. Consequently it's difficult to get in and out of drivers seat."

Anonymous, MI (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"It rides nice, it's been fairly maintenance free except for the brakes. I would like bigger cupholders."

BONNIE R., TX (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Like stow and go!"

JIM Q., ON (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"easy to adjust seats, they are comfortable for long distance driving"

"Road noise is no better than the 2006 Caravan I had. The plastic panels on the seat sides busted and the method of attachment is lesss than robust."

Anonymous, CT (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Space around the driver seat is too small for 6’5‿ tall guy, my knees touched the dashboard, sometimes injuring my knee caps when entering/exiting, knee cap strike the steering shaft."

Robert G., PA (2013 Chrysler Town & Country)

"stow and go seats. Don't have to haul heavy seats out"
