2014 Chrysler Town & Country Owner Satisfaction - Consumer Reports
Chrysler might have invented the modern minivan, but time marched on, leaving this version of the Town & Country feeling dated and past its prime. It’s not that the Town & Country totally lacks good points. Ride is very comfortable and settled. Passengers will also find a quiet, well-equipped cabin that offers considerable versatility.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Surprisingly peppy and easy to drive. Easy to see all around. Rear facing reversing video is very helpful."

Leo I., CA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"poor acceleration, braking distance is not acceptable"

Anonymous, NJ (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Plenty of power with the V6 pentstar engine, easy to pass, and navigate daily traffic"

Anonymous, MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Moves out when entering the interstate"

Edward C., NJ (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"When fully loaded on vacation, it seems a bit underpowered when driving it in the mountains. Also gear selection of the auto trans is not good in the mountains. Shifting manually in some situations takes care of this. Without the ability to shift manually, it would not be satisfactory (to me at least)."

Anonymous, FL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Acceleration is strong but a little noisy, and the handling is unspectacular - about what you'd expect from a minivan."

Jeff W., MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Good gas mileage, room, stow-n-go seats, ride and ease of driving"

Anonymous, OH (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I was alone driving from Kentucky to Maryland on the interstate at 70mph. I was in the right hand lane due to the heavy 18wheeler traffic. Suddenly a large deer leapt from the underbrush and crashed into the side of the van. I saw it coming and knew I had to keep control of the van or I'd be hit by the 18wheelers. I was able to get the van onto the shoulder and call 911 for help and to notify my insurance and my family. The van saved my life and held together envelope though the poor deer didn't"

JUDIE C., MD (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Space and visual is great, bit concerned about transmission"

M B., CA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Acceleration and handling are efficient and smooth. I always get up to the speed I want with no frustration. Its very agile for a large vehicle."

LAURA L., CA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Great acceleration...exceeded expectations"

NICK P., MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"acceleration ac storage comfort"

TERI S., IL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Sometimes shifts abruptly"

Anonymous, PA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"great choice"

ERNEST R., OH (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"It acts like it is going to die when coming to a stop."

Anonymous, OH (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The town and country soon to be more subject to cross wind problems when driving at high speeds. The turning radius seemed to be less then my Honda Odyssey. I had to slow down much more when exiting expressway ramps. For the most part, the town and country felt good while driving but did not seem to hug curves as well as the Honda Odyssey. Also, within the first year, The battery terminals on the town and country became corroded. I had the van towed into a dealer by the AAA. It took the deal"

RAYMOND M., IL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"V-6 and mpg on highway 27,26 mpg at 75"

B D., IL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Accelerates fast and rides well but a little jerky at first."

David H., MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"ACCELERATES THROUGH THE GEARS FROM STOP WITH HESITATION AND NOTICEABLE SHIFTS. FROM 60 IT PROVIDES RESPONSIVE ACCELERATION. HANDLING IS GOOD WITH LITTLE BODY SWAY."

Duncan R., NY (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The acceleration of the van is more than adequate to attain cruising speed in a short distance, as well as being able to move to pass another vehicle without hesitation. However, when starting from a stopped position, there is a split-second hesitation when depressing the accelerator, causing the vehicle to lunge when it finally engages."

Daniel S., IN (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Transmission seems a bit clunky but hasn’t given me any problems"

William P., PA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Feel safe with this car with all the sensors and camera"

Current R., PA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Smooth, great gas mileage"

Ryan M., IL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"acceleration is very good also handling is also very good."

Laurent B., FL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Does not accelerate as quickly as I like."

Anonymous, NC (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Quick acceleration, handling is great, the town & country performs considerably better than the Caravan on the same chassis"

Keith K., AZ (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Runs good has been dependable plenty of room for stuff"

Anonymous, NE (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Would like more acceleration and better transmission shifting. Shifting gears is not always smooth."

Anonymous, IN (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Acceleration is sluggish and requires multiple firm presses of accelerator."

Anonymous, NC (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I said I was very satisfied here and basically I am, HOWEVER, as it gets more miles it is not accelerating as quickly as it used to and needs more pick up."

Anonymous, NY (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"A bit disappointed in our current van's acceleration. Seems a bit jerky and touchy compared to our previous T&C vans."

Anonymous, IL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very strong acceleration, and handles nicely. Can access interstate highways with ease and feel 'in control' at all times."

Anonymous, SC (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Transmission shifts at odd times"

George S., OH (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"It accelerates well and gets great gas mileage. We love the van."

Ray A., CA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"It accelerates pretty well, though there is a noticeable lag (about 1 second) when the accelerator is pressed. This appears to be due to the fact that the computer actually controls the air flow to the engine. there is not mechanical link between the gas pedal and the engine."

Anonymous, NY (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"great acceleration"

Kerry R., WA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very responsive empty or loaded."

Larry T., TX (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"The van has plenty of power, but is a little noisy when accelerating quickly. Aside from that, the ride is very comfortable and road noise is minimal."

Jeff W., MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Front seats need some lumbar support, however stow and go feature is excellent Hear lots of outside noise"

Anonymous, MB (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"This car van has more wind noise, but is very comfortable to ride and drive"

Anonymous, NY (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Seats are comfortable on an 18 hour ride. Only issue is that the center arm rest make it hard to fasten the seat belts. However, the arm can be raised to fasten the belt which works fine but takes time."

Anonymous, FL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I recently purchased this used vehicle from a new car dealership and am very satisfied with the comfort and feel of the cloth seats. The vehicle's condition was excellent and the ride to date seems very tight and comfortable."

Anonymous, NY (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

Anonymous, NC (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We don't like the leather seats. Cold in winter, and hot in the summer!"

FRANK M., MN (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"A very nice comfortable quiet ride.Climate controls are easy to adjust."

TED R., SD (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very uncomfortable on a trip. Difficult to enter and exit."

PAUL B., MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The vehicle is very comfortable on short or long trips. It is noisier than anticipated, but not to the point of being annoying. The stow-and-go seating provides excellent hauling flexibility."

RALPH N., TX (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Auto climate control not user friendly..a bit glitchy. Seats are great and supportive Aside from poor (bluetooth) phone connection, navagation and other screen systems very user friendly and easily visible in bright environments"

Anonymous, AZ (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Outstanding, am 80 years old and have trouble getting in and out of low slung cars. The Chrysler T&C is a joy to drive"

DAVETTE P., MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

WILF K., ON (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The cabin could be a quieter ride as it pertains to external noise."

Anonymous, NC (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The Town and Country is a nice looking vehicle. It rides too high, too rough, too loud and is not built for petite people both as a driver and a passenger"

AMY M., KS (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Excellent experience...I really believe the design engineers thought of everything"

NICK P., MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"very comfortable on long trips great for kids in back to watch their movies"

Anonymous, NH (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very little cushioning in seats and seats do not conform to the body"

EUGENE D., NY (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Driver's seat is not as comfortable as our 2001 Grand Caravan was. Can't find the right position for driving in excess on an hour. Third row Stow n Go does not collapse fully. Seat back protrudes above and is at risk when loading and unloading cargo. Electric operation sometimes malfunctions and needs to be tried a second time to achieve desired position."

Anonymous, PA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"After 3 years I have not completely figured out how the climate control/vent controls work. Had trouble moving the seats, especially the rear."

DENNIS D., MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Comfort is great all around"

JODI J., TN (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The driver's and passenger seats move in 8 or 10 positions. I have back problems so this is very important to me. I find the van very comfortable and so does my wife."

JAMES S., NY (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Excellent choice in all respects"

ERNEST R., OH (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The ride is adequate, but not great. Climate control works well through out the cabin. The driver's seat seems narrow and lacks really good leg support, but is adequate. The cabin seems noisy overall some other mini-vans we have had and more noisy than the cars we have had."

Anonymous, MN (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The front seats are very comfortable, and the middle bucket and third row seats are adequately comfortable. The AC works great, but is frustrating that the rear AC controls cannot be controlled from the front as well. When you have small children complaining they are hot, you cannot make adjustments while on the road. It is an inconvenience to have to pull over and get out of the car to reach the controls for kids. The van has excellent external noise buffering and an excellent sound system. W"

LAURA L., CA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Chrysler T&C vans have a smoother ride than any other type van we have ridden in. The stow n go seats are a huge seller for us as we help our married kids move, then turn around and put car seats in to haul the grandkids around."

Anonymous, IL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We both have bad backs and the seats in the entire vehicle are very comfortable and don't bother our backs much. The two front seats are very cushy and the middle ones are almost as good. Cabin is very quiet and the ride is not too stiff."

Charles-Shawn L., FL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Seats are comfortable. Very easy to lift and put back down in the back to allow access to the third seat."

Anonymous, ON (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The Chrysler Van is wonderful in so many ways...BUT...it is noisy at highway speed, Wind noise possibly due to the twin sliding door configuration."

James D., IL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Ride is a little noisy"

James Z., SC (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Seats are comfortable. Good adjustment range and driving position."

Anonymous, RI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"ride is too noisy"

George C., VA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Purchased this vehicle to transport grandchildren and travel back and forth to Fl/Oh. It fits the bill on all accounts... interior id's designed with 2nd riots lift up seats for easy access to 3rd row. Cupholders everwhere, plenty of driver/ passenger storage. All seats behind the driver/ passenger stow flat. Great for transporting large, or lots of items. At first, i thought this was an "old person" car (i am old??) i wanted something more sporty. I soon decided on practicality, and all the great features it offers."

Susan L., FL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Noise level in passenger cabin is too high, specially on highways."

Anonymous, PA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very comfortable and smooth ride. Seats easily adjustable and heated, as needed. Minimal road noise at any speeds/"

Anonymous, SC (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Overall noise level is higher than we like when traveling on the highway. Seats are very comfortable. Ride is rougher than we like. Overall we still like the car VERY much."

Julian B., GA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"For an upgrade vehicle the road noise is to much."

Ronald S., NM (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The comfort has been one of the best ever in any vehicle we have owned, and has been verified by all who have ridden with us."

Roy E., MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The front seats are very comfortable but while we love the stow and go seats, the seats are not very comfortable for are very occasional passengers. The noise level is good."

Anonymous, NE (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"seats are fairly comfortable and ride is very good. a little noisy at higher speeds (65 plus)"

Laurent B., FL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"We bought it used and it came with leather seats. We would not want them in the future as they are too slippery and are much like the vinyl seats of the 1970's. Too hot in summer and too cold in winter."

Anonymous, NY (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Noises than I would like. Would like smoother ride better suspension."

Anonymous, IN (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

Arthur M., FL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"SEATS ARE ADEQUATE, THE REAR SEATS CAN BE STOWED TO PROVIDE FLAT AREA FOR STORAGE."

Anonymous, LA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Seats are not as comfortable as 2012 model. No wrap around feel. Much more noise from door seals. Turning radius is less than 2012."

David H., MI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very quiet ride, extremely comfortable seating"

Keith K., AZ (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The ride is very quiet, and smooth. The driver's seat has lumbar support and electric controls that enables adjustment to be customized to each driver."

Daniel S., IN (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"SEATS ARE STIFF LEATHER AND DO NOT OFFER THE FRONT PASSENGER ANY LUMBAR SUPPORT. THE RIDE IS FIRM WITH LESS ROAD NOISE THEN EXPECTED FOR A VAN."

Duncan R., NY (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Outer side edges tilt inward to center for comfort."

Anonymous, MD (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Stow and go!, Adaptability"

Ryan M., IL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"The seats are easily adjustable. I find them to be quite comfortable, can nap when the seat is reclined, and can change position on long trips."

Craig C., VA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Head rest tilt is too great. The seat creates too much closure around a person and it hurts the hips of us Seniors. The seat length is about 2 to 3 inches too long and tilts too much."

Anonymous, NC (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Driver's seat is not as comfortable as my 2006 Town & Country!"

Frank M., MN (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

Anonymous, VA (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Vehicle has WAY TOO MUCH road noise."

John T., WI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Very comfortable for ride. A bit noisy - road noise and wind noise. A bit hard to get in to as just a bit too high."

Nicola S., WI (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"I like the way the seats fold down into the floor so there is LOTS of room for "stuff". There is plenty of seating for grand kids too when they visit. The windows allow good visibility. I also like that I am sitting up higher above the road in the van. I don't like sitting in a small car where I feel I am only a few inches above the road."

Ruth B., FL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

"highway mileage exceeds expectation, up to 30 mpg Purchase price less than other manufactures"

Anonymous, NJ (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

Anonymous, SD (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

Ruth B., FL (2014 Chrysler Town & Country)

"Great trip car. Auto folding seats are terrific. Warning systems for driving are excellent. Plenty of acceleration and good handling for big car. Auto open doors are great."
