Chrysler might have invented the modern minivan, but time has marched on, leaving the Dodge Grand Caravan feeling dated and past its prime. At least the GC’s ride is very comfortable and settled, and passengers will find a quiet, well-equipped cabin that offers considerable versatility. Reliability History Reliability History The reliability charts are based on responses on hundreds of thousands of vehicles from our latest Annual Auto Survey. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Our subscribers provide great insights into their satisfaction by answering one simple question: If they had it to do all over again, would they definitely buy or lease the same model? In addition, respondents also rate their cars in six categories: driving experience, comfort, value, styling, audio, and climate systems. D E., IL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6-L V6)
Wind noise

"The rubber gasket on the left front passenger door does not seal properly and a strong left to right cross wind causes very loud whistling. The dealer repositioned the door which eliminated 90% of the problem. However in a very strong crosswind the noise still occurs on an intermittent basis."

Anonymous, MI (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.6-L V6)

"Front windshield had wind noise from day one but the mechanics could never hear it--not suprising because I believe they're trained NOT to agree with the owners when problems like this occurs."

Anonymous, NY (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.6-L V6)
Rough shifting

"when activating eco-mode, the transmission shift up and down hard, sometimes making a single knocking noise. Dealership advised not to use eco-mode. Did not correct problem - simply provided a work around which eliminates a marketed fuel savings capability"

Anonymous, ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.6-L V6)

"The van has an problem with its shifting, dealer says normal because its drive by wire transmission. It is also hard to feather the throttle to edge forward in parking situations as you press down it does nothing as the rpm go up then will jump forward in a faster manner than anticipated."

Mike F., ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6-L V6)
Slipping transmission

What Owners Say

Cylinder head

"At about 70000 miles the valves got loud. The dealer replaced some of the valve train."

Anonymous, (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan R/T 3.6-L V6)

"The front cylinder head failed with 2 cylinders not firing properly, and then making grinding noises. The dealer suggested it not be driven, was still under Chrysler's dive train warranty. Chrysler fought about covering the repair under warranty but agreed to after 2 months of hounding them. I change my own oil and filters every 5000 K and was told when I bought this vehicle that was OK as long as I kept good records of dates and mileage that was OK. Always used Mobil 1 synthetic oil. This vehicle was out of service for near 3 months waiting for a replacement head, there were none available for 3 months. It was finally repaired and works OK now, I bought this vehicle from the dealer 1 yr old and it had been the service delivery vehicle since new. I considered trading it after repair but found that it had been in an accident during the dealers ownership which I didn't know accident value when I wanted to trade it. The accident was valued at 12000$ dollars and that reduced the trade in value by 50% of the accident cost, 6000$ which made this vehicle near worthless to trade. Got screwed more than once. I will never own another Chysler vehicle and will tell all friends and family my experience. DMN"

Anonymous, ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6-L V6)

"This happened on the road when the vehicle was under 6 months old. The dealership fixed the problem within 24 hours. Since this happened on a road trip in 2015, i spent an extra night getting to my destination"
