What Owners Say
"Rear backup sensors broke on the way home from the showroom. After repair side sensors work well, but rear sensors work only part of the time"
Ernest W., TX (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"It played 1 CD and then wouldn't play it again. It also would not eject the CD."
Anonymous, OH (2016 Ford Edge)"screen froze and was unable to use it."
Susan L., PA (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"Sync stopped working and screen would freeze up constantly."
Anonymous, LA (2016 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Turns out this happens when the battery is dying."
Anonymous, FL (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Over a year ago the screen started to take about a minute to switch from one screen to another. This is particularly annoying when trying you are trying to change the radio source and station, and there are 30-60 second delays between touch selections. It also happens with the cameras, and various apps. It was not resolved by my Ford dealer service."
Anonymous, (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"They had to replace the entire unit. They covered it under warranty ."
Anonymous, MI (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"Happened twice. Outdoor temperature display got stuck on 32 degrees, even though it was more than 80 degrees outside. This caused the unit to want to heat the inside instead of cool."
Anonymous, LA (2016 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)"The main nav screen is slow. I have reset it, removed phone contacts but still is 20 second response time from setting to climet anytime I have touched the screen to do something on the screen."
Anonymous, CA (2016 Ford Edge Sport 2.7-L V6 turbo)"Screen lock up. Dealer reset, blamed download update"
W D., TN (2016 Ford Edge SE 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Throughout my 10 month ownership of this car there are on and off issues with the Sync 3 system, the worse of which is that the screen shows gibberish and freezes up until I turn off the vehicle and the system restarts itself. Ford has been unable to "duplicate" the problem when I bring the car for service. Ford simply resets and updates the software which temporarily fixes the problem"
Waldemar H., CA (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Screen freezes up and won't comes back on for an hour"
Anonymous, IL (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"Screen went dark, along with gauges, radio, etc. I drove to dealership, turned the car off, and when I showed the technician the problem, everything worked again. No problems since. Tech said it was some sort of electrical glitch."
Gary B., MI (2016 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"It has happened about 3 times lasting from minutes to hours. Causing navigation to not work"
Anonymous, BC (2016 Ford Edge Sport 2.7-L V6 turbo)"needed update"
Anonymous, AB (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"problem is intermittent"
Anonymous, CA (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"System does not always boot up and sometimes GPS stops working"
Edward S., NC (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Car was just a month old and dealer replaced the defective module. All has been fine since"
Anonymous, ON (2016 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)"Screen freezes and back up camera won't work"
Anonymous, IL (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"Radio wouldn't play for part of the day the next day it was fine.."
Richard H., MA (2016 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"often music cannot be streamed from any iPhone to the system both over usb and Bluetooth."
Anonymous, UT (2016 Ford Edge SE 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"The Sync system has been a disaster from the day I purchased the vehicle. Pairing with my smart phone has been spotty and teh system often freezes or fails altogether. I brought it back to the dealer several times and even left it for a week and they said they couldn't fix it as it was intermittent. I gave up and live with the occasional system crash."
Anonymous, (2016 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"The APIM, which is the brains of the Sync system, had to be replaced. It had gotten very sluggish, the whole system was very slow to respond to commands, verbal or by touchscreen."
Anonymous, NY (2016 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Sync stopped working properly. Hardware module had to be replaced."
Anonymous, IA (2016 Ford Edge Sport 2.7-L V6 turbo)"The SIM unit has been replaced twice and still does not work properly."
Anonymous, CO (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Repeat problem with SD Card Not Inserted error, even when the card is there. Nav information is YEARS out of date and never updated. Traffic information is poor and usually wrong. Re-routing feature forgets traffic problems if a wrong turn is made."
Anonymous, NY (2016 Ford Edge SE 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"The GPS in this car is out of date, cumbersome and not usable. It is missing streets and points of interest. If you don't know exactly what town something is in it cannot find it. It requires that you answer multiple questions for it to attempt to find something. If I were buying this car new, I would get Sync3 with no GPS and use WAZE."
Ted D., DE (2016 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"The NAV system will not route a trip on a toll road even though it's the shortest or fastest path. Ford said in late 2016 that they knew about the problem and a fix was coming in the next NAV software update, which would need to be done at the dealer. Every time I check with the dealer, they don't have a software update. Their responsiveness has been terrible. They have continued to demonstrate that they don't really care about the customer."
Anonymous, CO (2016 Ford Edge Sport 2.7-L V6 turbo)"The display module is going to be replaced under warranty in about one week. Hopefully, this will resolve all the problems with phone pairing, gps not working, and other navigation problems."
David G., IL (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"It sucks. Can't find a number oc cities in Ohio and FL."
John H., OH (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.7-L V6 turbo)"I wish I was able to pick multiple items from the list presented on the previous screen. The Navigation System is pretty much worthless. A majority of the time it doesn't give accurate navigation instructions. In fact, they are down right WRONG, and many times it has put me in an endless loop. Quickest and/or shortest routes are not accurate. I have come to rely on GPS apps on my iPhone such as Maps, Google Maps, Waze, etc. All of which are 100% better. The only problem is that the sound on my iPhone won't work when Bluetooth is on. So, I have to make a choice... Turn Bluetooth off and navigate with accurate GPS instructions in urban areas with sound and illegally use my iPhone (not hands free). Or, turn on Bluetooth to speak legally, and navigate with my iPhone GPS without sound. The voice activated navigation is clueless. Most of the time, not a single word I say is interpreted correctly (frustrating as hell). I have a very typical Midwestern accent, which I would think to be easiest to understand, don't use slang, speak loud and slow, and the navigation system still doesn't understand what I say. I could live without the Ford navigation System. But, unfortunately, it comes as part of the Technology Package which has other features that I like and probably wouldn't want to do without. The touch screen icons are confusing and hard to use while driving. Route information is not accurate. Places for stopping to eat are incomplete. The iPhone apps are free and upgrade multiple times per month also for free. The connection between Sirius Traffic sometimes works and sometimes not. Actually, it doesn't work about 99% of the time. All these items, and more, have been discussed in nauseating detail with my local Ford dealer without success. My two biggest complaints are the Bluetooth compatibility and inaccuracy. I'm told that's just the technology. The only relief offered, if you even consider it relief, is an upgrade CD at a cost $$$. No guarantee anything will get fixed, and definitely no Bluetooth fix. Bottom line... The Ford Navigation System is GARBAGE."
Peter J., WI (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"hardware replacement required update for GPS only dealer available for $400-poor system of updating"
John M., ON (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"The navigation computer software quit working completely. The onscreen map frequently showed I was not on the road, in wrong city or went blank. It took multiple tries to fix this including . very frustrating, at least one service dept (Ford) refused to work on it and said it would cost too much and I would not be happy."
Anonymous, AZ (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Pairs for phone calls, but keeps losing the ability to connect audio."

Anonymous, FL (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"You could get the phone paired with the vehicle's bluetooth, but the next time you went to use it, it wouldn't work. This was constant. Finally, on the 3rd trip in for a repair, Ford just replaced the entire unit. Now it works."
Anonymous, OH (2016 Ford Edge)"repeated loss of pairing"

Anonymous, CO (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Hard ware replacement required dealer"
John M., ON (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"The volume would not operate. I could talk to the car but nothing could be heard in response. The volume level indicator did not she on the screen. The amplifier went bad."

Anonymous, TN (2016 Ford Edge SE 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"Would not update NAV system."
Anonymous, TX (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.7-L V6 turbo)"I was unable to download the Sync update using a usb drive. I called Ford customer support; they told me to go to a dealer. The dealer did not inform me of the cost, or call me with status and when I picked up the car they charged me $250. They came down to $150 after heated exchange. The warranty did not cover the software update."
Anonymous, TN (2016 Ford Edge)"Adaptive steering malfunction"
Anonymous, IN (2016 Ford Edge Sport 2.7-L V6 turbo)"Dealer attempted to download a fix to the updates but was unsuccessful."
Anonymous, TX (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.7-L V6 turbo)"All of the items refer to problems which developed in the Sync3 system. I downloaded an update, which didn't help. I told Ford service when I was in for maintenance, and was told their computer was down. On my next visit I asked again, and was told that many people had experience the same problem, but that HQ had said it was a problem with Ford servers. The problems have not been fixed. For instance when I was 80 miles from home, the GPS showed me one block from my house. After I back out of my driveway, the review camera remains on for 2 blocks. It can take several minutes to change the radio station. I am hoping that safety features are not affected. Now Ford has sent re a request to load new maps for this system that doesn't work, for $150 ( as much as a standalone GPS with lifetime maps)."
Anonymous, (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"I thought updating the system as recommended would fix the delays but unsure if it has actually been updated."
Anonymous, CA (2016 Ford Edge Sport 2.7-L V6 turbo)"Won't update online, gets an error message"
Anonymous, (2016 Ford Edge Sport 2.7-L V6 turbo)"The speakers seem to cut in & out. The radio will get louder & softer. And its intermittent when it happens so the dealer has only been able to replicate once which Ford said wasnt enough to replace the whole system. I have numerous audio recordings of the problem. Ford has said they'll need to recreate it in the shop for an extended period so that they can get the error codes. Its very frustrating. They also think it may have to do w/ HD radio but arent sure"
Anonymous, GA (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"My driver's side front door speaker was blown after 3 months use. No severe loud settings and no heavy base music played"
Susan L., NT (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"I only remember solution was a new steering wheel"
Lloyd A., LA (2016 Ford Edge Sport 2.7-L V6 turbo)"Adaptive steering fault message kept coming up. Ended up they had to replace the $1100 steering wheel to fix the problem. They tried other things first that did not work"
Tim W., OH (2016 Ford Edge Sport 2.7-L V6 turbo)"Steering wheel stuck in up position"
Anonymous, VA (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"It wasn't specifically controls, it was the adaptive steering sensor that failed. They replaced the steering wheel, then I had a shorted horned that kept blowing and they had to replace the steering wheel again"
Jerry N., CO (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"useless most off the time."
Helen L., NY (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)"Voice control had only about a 70% success at recognition for navigation controls. The introductions for each step are so long that I avoid using them. Voice recognition of mobile phone contacts is terrible and I have never successfully had it pick a number from my contact list and dial it as advertized"
Anonymous, CA (2016 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)"System constantly misheard instructions regarding calling contacts, street names, etc"
Anonymous, NY (2016 Ford Edge Titanium)
"Android Auto works but it is quirky. It is hard to tell whether it is Android Auto that is quirky or Sync3. I have come to believe that it is probably Android Auto as I can usually overcome the problems by resetting my phone. I mostly use Android Auto to access WAZE. Sometimes it starts right up and other times it requires that I restart my phone or unplug the phone and then reattach the phone. It will also, on occasion, just stop and I have to restart it on the phone."
