Ford's Expedition EL is a huge SUV capable of carrying nine passengers, their luggage and still tow a heavy trailer. For the most part, the EL succeeds. It has a roomy third-row seat, it handles reasonably well, and it accelerates strongly while towing our 5,000-pound test trailer. However, the Expedition's ride is stiff, it gets low fuel economy and the engine frequently sounds coarse and strained.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"Comfort to drive Road noise getting tires dont matter"

Anonymous, OK (2010 Ford Expedition)

"good things about comfort are 1.seats (heated, cooled, able to sit for long periods comfortably, on a trip) 2. Fairly low interior noise (far better than my wife's LEXUS RX350). 3. Better ride than the RX350.4. Due to comfort, I overwhelmingly prefer to travel or go anywhere in my 2010 FORD Expedition. 5. Exterior visibility. 6. Low stress level from overall driving/operating the Expedition"

MARK N., IA (2010 Ford Expedition)

"Problem with the computer system for heating and cooling that can only be taken care of by a Ford dealer. First heat went out took it in for costly repair. First hot day in summer no air conditioning. To me the computer part replaced should handle both heat and cooling. More than likely both was not working at time of service now have to have the air conditioning fixed too. Also the drivers electric window stopped working. Dealer wanted over a thousand dollars to fix. Went to independent mechan"

DORIS S., IL (2010 Ford Expedition)

Erich O., TN (2010 Ford Expedition)

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"We have had paint failures all over the car since the third year of ownership. The paint is bubbling from underneath and looks like a potential galvanic reaction. When I went to the dealer, it's not covered unless there's a hole all the way through the frame. It's been quite disappointing. It looks bad and we paid quite a bit for the Limited XL version."

STEVEN B., RI (2010 Ford Expedition)

"Great AC, have AC & heat seats"

ROBERT S., LA (2010 Ford Expedition)
