In the plus-size SUV arena, the Expedition EL is the only other mainstream game in town to the popular Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL twins. While the Expedition was freshened for 2015, it is still vastly outdated and outclassed compared to the competition.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Exceptional acceleration even when pulling a horse trailer. Considering how big it is it is very good in off road environments."

Anonymous, UT (2016 Ford Expedition)

"Accelerates way better than I expected. Much better than previous expeditions I've owned."

Anonymous, AZ (2016 Ford Expedition)

"love the low-end torque of the eco boost"

Rick P., WI (2016 Ford Expedition)

"excellent smooth quite ride and lots of pick up and zip in the 6 cylinder engine. Unbelievable!"

Ray S., TN (2016 Ford Expedition)

"The SUV floats over the road like a luxury car. We also use it to tow our travel trailer. The SUV does have the Tow Package which pulls our trailer down the road with ease."

Richard N., TX (2016 Ford Expedition)

"great pick up for a v6. handling not a sports car but decent for vehicle size"

Anonymous, NJ (2016 Ford Expedition)

"Easy to drive"

Anonymous, CA (2016 Ford Expedition)

"One hardly feels any hesitation when accelerating. Easy handling, even in tight places."

C S., NV (2016 Ford Expedition)

"Lots of power once in the power band. Smooth ride, and tows well."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Ford Expedition)

"Great acceleration compared to old 5.4 V8. Mileage is exactly the same in my experience, or less than 1 MPG better. One annoyance is that the need for cooling air is so acute that the auxiliary fans run most of the time the vehicle is not moving and are so loud it is difficult to hear others or carry on a conversation near the vehicle. In this regard, the older V8 is far superior. (we have both V8 and V6 turbo versions)"

Kari R., TX (2016 Ford Expedition)

"Super fast and powerful, esp for a 3.5L V6! Good gas mileage relative to power. Use it for towing."

JOHN S., PA (2016 Ford Expedition)

"The acceleration is much better and smoother than my previous expedition which had a much bigger engine. (v-8 versus present eco boost v-6)"

Anonymous, CA (2016 Ford Expedition)

"very easy handling. Feels like a luxury car not a truck"

Anonymous, AZ (2016 Ford Expedition)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

Anonymous, SC (2016 Ford Expedition)

Rick P., WI (2016 Ford Expedition)

Anonymous, AZ (2016 Ford Expedition)

Anonymous, AR (2016 Ford Expedition)

"spacious comfortable front and back seats"

Anonymous, NJ (2016 Ford Expedition)

"Very comfortable"

Anonymous, CA (2016 Ford Expedition)

"Ride, seat comfort, acceleration ease and simplicity of all controls. Extremely quiet and very easy to park and navigate in tight spots."

ED N., GA (2016 Ford Expedition)

"Excellent 3rd row seats. High off the ground and supportive for older kids/teenagers. Comfortable for large groups and long rides."

Anonymous, NJ (2016 Ford Expedition)

"I am short so the msnuvetability between seats & foot pedals creates a comfortable & safe operation for me"

Anonymous, KS (2016 Ford Expedition)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"The Expedition has the best towing power in the large SUV category - the only reason I bought one. The trade-off is that the exterior is not as cool as the Tahoe or Yukon. Navigation is clunky and not as up-to-date as Garmin, and you can't choose how the map is oriented."

Douglas L., MO (2016 Ford Expedition)

"It pulls our travel trailer quite well."

Robert L., TX (2016 Ford Expedition)

"To days cars are just way too expensive. Not worth the crazy prices being offered."

Robert M., AZ (2016 Ford Expedition)

"This car is the biggest piece of xxxxx since the day I drove it off the lot. Purchased new. Computer resets every time the car is turned off so it needs to be manually redone every time. I would never ever buy another expedition"

Anonymous, CA (2016 Ford Expedition)

"My husband works for ford so we get our cars at a discounted rate and usually around a one year lease and Ford pays insurance. The Expedition was 45% off for us and we got it loaded so the sticker was $69,000!!!! I like the car for traveling with our two kids but the value is not there for that kind of money. It just isn't the same craftsmanship as the European brands."

CANDICE K., MI (2016 Ford Expedition)
