What Owners Say
"It failed"
Anonymous, TN (2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL 3.0-L V6)"Been told that repairs made by another mechanic were incomplete lost screws and part of the filter missing also"
Anonymous, VA (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"compress failed; had to be replaced"
Anonymous, MS (2006 Ford Five Hundred 3.0-L V6)"Would only cool at high speed, unfortunately use this car in low speed areas. Cost app. $1150.00"
Michael C., FL (2006 Ford Five Hundred SE 3.0-L V6)"A/C did not cool off the vehicle in hot weather. Found especially in stop and go traffic, in city driving a/c could not keep vehicle cool, once driving on the highway it was a little cooler but not much. As we were on a trip, we had a local, well known auto company, check the system. He stated that they thought it was the a/c compressor. I called my mechanic he said it didn't sound like It and should not spend the $800-1000 dollars to do it but just have it recharged. Had it recharged by this sa"
Anonymous, ME (2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL 3.0-L V6)"Poor cooling"
Anonymous, WA (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"doesn't cool well at idle or stop and go traffic. Cools OK above 40 MPH"
Bill C., FL (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"Poor cooling overall. Cooling fails when car is not moving. Different air temp level for driver vs passenger side vents!"
Anonymous, FL (2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL 3.0-L V6)"The blower was blowing but the air was not cool"
Anonymous, TN (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"compressor went out and had to be replaced"
Anonymous, TN (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"AC compressor had a leak had to replace it"
Anonymous, NC (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"Total failure. Frequently reported by others"
Anonymous, FL (2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL 3.0-L V6)"broken"
Anonymous, NC (2006 Ford Five Hundred SE 3.0-L V6)"No A/C, To fix. Would have to purchase new Compressor costing $600 and Labor costing $750. I don't have that kind of money"
John C., NC (2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL 3.0-L V6)"AC compressor had to be replaced"
Anonymous, IN (2006 Ford Five Hundred SE 3.0-L V6)"Not cooling due to fluid leaking out of compressor"
Anonymous, MN (2006 Ford Five Hundred SE 3.0-L V6)"needs replacing, cost is too high, hot car is nearly useless in summer"
Andrew H., IA (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"I have no cooling on ac operation. Heater system works Ok. Seems like compressor will not engage clutch or valve inside not opening up. I know there is something in the compressor that isn't working. I haven't repaired the system because of cost. I usually do my own mechanical work and have saved much money compared to taking it to the shop. I've been doing work like this for 50+ years. I have worked with refrigeration systems for over 50 years in my HVAC business. So I know what I'm doing."
Michael L., NM (2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL 3.0-L V6)"bearing went out so compressor clutch froze"
Anonymous, (2006 Ford Five Hundred SE 3.0-L V6)"Freon leak inside compressor unit."
Anonymous, WA (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"Thermostat was defective, was replaced and now works fine"
Anonymous, NC (2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL 3.0-L V6)"main dash control failed"
Mary H., OH (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"Since purchase A/C INSIDE only button needs resetting every few miles! I am allergic to auto exhaust from cars ahead, and I put the INSIDE air only button on, and must reset it a few miles down the road. It's inconsistant, sometimes I get 8-10 miles, other times only 3-4 miles and I'm getting outside air again. Bad anytime, awful in hign-pollen season or heavy traffic!"
Anonymous, CA (2006 Ford Five Hundred Unsure 3.0-L V6)"The solenoid that controls the engine vent failed and the blower sticks on high fan even when the climate control is turned off. That's my guess, I haven't dug into it to figure out the sure reason yet. It might just be a vacuum leak"
Paul B., TN (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"This is the second time that I had leaks. The first time I had leaks it was repair under warranty"
Roger E., NC (2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0-L V6)"Seasonal leakage"
Anonymous, FL (2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL 3.0-L V6)
"compressor failure and condensing fan failure"
Samuel F., TN (2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL 3.0-L V6)
