This rather primitive rear driver continues to command a loyal following. The base model's 3.8-liter V6 generates more noise than power. The 4.6-liter V8s are much stronger and more in character with the car. Unfortunately, only the top-of-the-line SVT Cobra version gets an independent rear suspension. The manual transmission is balky, and the clutch feels heavy.

"This is the SVT Cobra with a supercharged V8. Very fast and sharp handling car. 6 speed transmision shifts very smooth and car is a good hiway vehicle for long trips. Front seats are very comfortable back seat suitible only for small persons. Gets about 23 mpg on the hiway and 17 in town."
