While this version of the GMC Terrain is not a bad vehicle, the competition had left it in the dust. While nice and roomy inside, the Terrain is less efficient than other five-passenger SUVs, but burns as much gas as larger, seven-passenger models. The 3.6-liter engine, shared with many other General Motors products, supplies quick acceleration times at the test track, but feels sluggish in routine driving.

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? What Owners Say

"Very good for a car that is 8 years old."

Anonymous, NJ (2010 GMC Terrain)

"good acceleration for 4 cyl. AWD transmission much better than FWD, tires not breaking loose on damp pavement, smooth up/down shifts. feels more grounded than FWD version, more secure."

Anonymous, IL (2010 GMC Terrain)

"It is a 4-wheel drive car which gives it a very grounded driving feel. It accelerates well and in general provides a confident driving experience, in control."

Anonymous, IL (2010 GMC Terrain)

"Great handling car and good gas mileage"

Anonymous, WI (2010 GMC Terrain)

"afterr I got hit in the l/f door there is a rattle in the dash that they can,t get out"

MANNY V., FL (2010 GMC Terrain)

"Being 4 cyl, it gets better gas mileage but has to work really hard to accelerate on the highway and up long stretches of hills/mtns. In NEPA, that happens a lot!! Handles well other than that."

Anonymous, PA (2010 GMC Terrain)

"Love the acceleration and feeling control Blind spot is smaller than previous vehicles."

Anonymous, TX (2010 GMC Terrain)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Seats are comfortable - bith short and long rides. Several trips from N.E> Ohio to South Florida since I purchased the car. Ride is comfortable without being 'soft/mushy', and highway handling is great. Size is good on busy roads and extended highway trips. Visibility from driver's seat seems good. Better than other cars I have had."

Patrick F., FL (2010 GMC Terrain)

"Noisy bumpy."

Anonymous, TX (2010 GMC Terrain)

"road noise is loud … sometimes difficult to carry on a conversation."

Anita B., MO (2010 GMC Terrain)

"Storage is a problem for travel if there are more than 2 passengers. Does not take bumps very well. Love the backup mirror and heated seats. Acceleration is not too good, especially in reverse. Love appearance and am satisfied overall."

Anonymous, LA (2010 GMC Terrain)

"Uncomfortable and drives like a tank."

Anonymous, IL (2010 GMC Terrain)

"seats are quit uncomfortable after multi hour drive. My backside hurt so much, we had to pull over."

Anonymous, PA (2010 GMC Terrain)

"Driver's seat memory control has required frequent reprogramming"

ROBERT B., TN (2010 GMC Terrain)

"adjustable lumbar support in drivers seat broke; quit working"

RICK B., LA (2010 GMC Terrain)

"1. Ease of entry into the vehicle 2. No discernible road noise 3. Comfortable ride in all seats."

Anonymous, TX (2010 GMC Terrain)

"In dash directional air flow is very limited and always seems to be blowing directly at me. Can't point it away. Front Seats cup up on right and left sides. I'm only 5'4" and this makes getting out of the seat more challenging than I'd like. But my husband is 6'2", and he loves the comfort of the seats and leg room. For an all wheel drive SUV, the ride is nice. Not too big. Just the right size for empty nesters. Looks stylish and "tough"."

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"The design did not change foe yrs., so it always appears to be new. Exterior is like new. There were a couple of recalls. No major repairs. Key expensive to replace."

Anonymous, LA (2010 GMC Terrain)

"Most expensive car purchased to date. Mileage estimates advertised woefully inaccurate. Single climate control control insufficient to quickly control the backseat climate. Three MAJOR malfunctions in first seven years of ownership. Most recent was total A/C failure. Previous two allowed me to use extended warranty to keep me from going bankrupt. Will not ever purchase a GMC again."

Anonymous, SC (2010 GMC Terrain)

Styling

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"Like styling outside, inside lots of room for passengers in rear seats, head room excellent, finish of trim both inside and out well done."

ROBERT K., ON (2010 GMC Terrain)
