Dale K., ON (2006 Honda Civic EX 1.8-L 4 Cyl)"Where to begin! I had the roof and trunk repainted by Honda in Nov. 2013 on a recall for a fading paint problem. The entire areas of repainted roof and trunk have now completely changed to matte over the past year. Also, there is extensive fading on the hood and around the trim of the car, which has got worse over the past two years. This happened after the paint recall was over. I recently wrote to Honda Corporate (in April 2018) to complain and appeal to them, particularly about the paint job Honda did 3 1/2 years ago which is now matte and looks awful. I sent photos to support my complaint. A Honda case manager called me about a week later and basically told me there was nothing they can do as the recall is over. They don't seem to care that their paint job on the recall has not held up and now looks worse than before they repainted it. I would love to know if I have any further recourse with this problem. Thank you!"
Julie B., NY (2006 Honda Civic LX 1.8-L 4 Cyl)"Honda repainted most of the vehicle as part of a legal settlement several years ago, but the dealer was stingy and wouldn't do all of the vehicle. The parts the didn't repaint are now turning white in the clear coat layer."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Honda Civic EX 1.8-L 4 Cyl)"The color is a dark metallic blue. Apparently this color has a history of fading, chalking and cracking because of a defect. Honda refuses to pay for it because the car is out of warranty."
Anonymous, OH (2006 Honda Civic EX 1.8-L 4 Cyl)"This problem was a problem that Honda addressed about 2010, and assigned a recall code to take care (repaint)the affected units. The original owner never responded to the recall. We purchased the car at the tail end of the recall limit-in fact it was already four months or so past the last date that Honda would honor. Following CR advice, I tried to get some compensation for a complete paint job. I was only looking for help, but was turned down. My contention is that the original owner could not do without the car for the length of time that the paint shop would need to correct poor paint. The second owner should have been given the opportunity to correct the paint problem, if only to offer a part payment from a recommended paint shop."
David C., NJ (2006 Honda Civic EX 2.0-L 4 Cyl)"The outer layer of paint is badly eroded, leaving white blotches. This is caused by the sun as evidenced by the sides of the car being alright."
Harold H., MA (2006 Honda Civic Si 1.8-L 4 Cyl)"Several areas around the body have paint deterioration. Parts of the car have been repainted, those areas are still OK. The original paint is where the problems occur."

Kathleen A., AZ (2006 Honda Civic)"Had bad chalking issues. I almost decided to trade in. Thankfully honda had a recall and fixed the paint. except for a door, because they didnt notice the issue then. Few years later, that door started to have the chalk like issues"
Libin M., NY (2006 Honda Civic LX 1.8-L 4 Cyl)"The paint on the roof of the car has faded and peeled"
Anonymous, CA (2006 Honda Civic 2.0-L 4 Cyl)"It has been a problem for several years and has got worse. There was a recall for fading paint on the roof and trunk about 6 years ago. I had those sections repainted by Honda under the recall. After a couple of years, that paint job turned to a matte finish. The rest of the paint on the car meanwhile continued to fade and peel. I have called Honda corporate to complain but was dismissed and told that the recall had expired. My complaint was that the recall paint job which Honda did, has not held up and looks a mess."

Kathy T., SC (2006 Honda Civic Si 2.0-L 4 Cyl)"The paint problem was, I gather, common among 2006 Civics. My car is blue and the paint began going chalky and then peeling, first on the hood and then everywhere. Honda refuses to accept responsibility. While the problem has been widespread and known to Honda, and while I am the original car owner, no notice was ever given to me that the paint could have been repaired. I gather Honda at first denied responsibility, then quibbled, then repainted some cars, then ended the program. May I also add here that both visors broke -- split open under some kind of internal stress -- and Honda also declines to replace them. This was my second Honda Civic and I bought it for the reliability I experienced with the first one. I am now in the market for a new car, and I'll not make the mistake of buying another Honda.."

James E., AL (2006 Honda Civic Si 2.0-L 4 Cyl)"The paint on the roof of the car has flaked away. I don't have a garage for it, so it sits outside and the paint on the top has just cracked, flaked and blown away--leaving basic metal"
