Driving Experience
Includes acceleration and handling
What Owners Say
"Very good handling and good acceleration. Over all good driving experience."
Scott L., OH (2012 Honda CR-V)"The CRV is a good car to take on trips. The ride is smooth and comfortable"
Robert S., TX (2012 Honda CR-V)"For a 4-cylinder vehicle it accelerates quite well, although it is quite noisy. I have no problems getting in/out of parking places, whether parking parallel or in a conventional lot."
Victoria W., MD (2012 Honda CR-V)"Rear visibility is very poor. This is the one reason we may purchase a different vehicle when we replace this one."
Robert D., NY (2012 Honda CR-V)"Good power but takes time to get up to speed"
Anonymous, OH (2012 Honda CR-V)"Drives fine, but tire inflation monitor incorrectly stays on."
Charles S., MO (2012 Honda CR-V)"Smooth acceleration and sporty handling. I love this vehicle!"
Anonymous, RI (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration is weak but adequate."
Douglas N., OR (2012 Honda CR-V)"Gas pedal and brake pedal too close together."
Les W., AZ (2012 Honda CR-V)"The CR-V is a good combination of room, fuel mileage, and ability to pass on 2-lane roads."
Malla K., FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"The four cylinder engine is not powerful enough to accelerate quickly to merge into traffic safely."
Paulette R., TX (2012 Honda CR-V)"The handling is very good and the acceleration is fine. I feel good driving the car in bad weather."
Andy S., NJ (2012 Honda CR-V)"It is kind of noisy, and not a smooth ride, but it maneuvers well"
Anonymous, IL (2012 Honda CR-V)"Is an excellent performing car. 5 years with 322,000 miles and it is still in excellent running cobdition"
Burt R., AZ (2012 Honda CR-V)"Tepid acceleration but decent handling for a SUV."
Curtis F., CO (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration is not great, but it is a 4 cylinder engine."
Sammy S., TN (2012 Honda CR-V)"It's comfortable and easy handling, has agility on the road and pep for acceleration onto a highway at high speeds for a 4 cylinder. And good mileage."
Michael B., NY (2012 Honda CR-V)"Very peppy for a four cylinder."
Anonymous, CA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Not too bad for this engine."
Sylvia D., FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"It corners superbly."
Anonymous, WV (2012 Honda CR-V)"The four cylinder engine is peppy enough under normal driving conditions. However, when using cruise control, speed drops off on even slight grades."
Anonymous, SC (2012 Honda CR-V)"This Malibu has great handling. It;s tight, accelerates well, and it's smooth."
Mike R., OK (2012 Honda CR-V)"This vehicle is excellent in the snow."
Robert S., NY (2012 Honda CR-V)"EXCELLENT Car!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Anonymous, CA (2012 Honda CR-V)"CRV has a very tight turning radius making maneuvering in parking lots very easy. Car can turnaround on road using less than four lanes. Car accelerates quickly with light pressure on pedal."
Carl H., OH (2012 Honda CR-V)"It accelerates and handles very well. Quick response when needed in acceleration or maneuvering on the road."
Mark C., OK (2012 Honda CR-V)"I'm providing this comment under "handling" because i'm not sure where else to comment. There is a lack of clear vision when backing. The expectation is that you use your camera for backing since there are "blind spots" if you don't. I much prefer the field ov vision I have had in other vehicles such as a van or truck. I will not purchase a Honda CR-V again."
Anonymous, FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"It handles well in all conditions. It’s great in the snow. Acceleration is decent, unless you’re in ECO mode."
Anonymous, NY (2012 Honda CR-V)"Very easy to handle. Acceleration is good when needed."
Anonymous, ON (2012 Honda CR-V)"soft comfortable ride"
Anonymous, OH (2012 Honda CR-V)"engine pick-up & quiteness"
Anonymous, OH (2012 Honda CR-V)"Adequate acceleration and handling except when climbing steep hills at high speeds (such as Interstate 70 west of Denver)"
Anonymous, CO (2012 Honda CR-V)"The 2012 Honda CRV handles well and has plenty of pick up, even in conserve mode."
Anonymous, NH (2012 Honda CR-V)"solid handling on curvy and hilly roads good acceleration no change from when it was new"
Mike G., MO (2012 Honda CR-V)"Dealer has not been able to cure slight pull to the left while driving on roads with high peaks."
Anonymous, MD (2012 Honda CR-V)"I'm 75 years old and this is my; 3rd (maybe 4th?) Honda. My husband has an Accord. It'd comfortable to drive, has had VERY few problems, and as been much used in heavy city driving. My only complaint? Can be hard to find in the sea of Honda CRV's in the Costco parking lot!"
Anonymous, MD (2012 Honda CR-V)"Accelaration is good for that class of vehicule, handling is fair and easy to use for every day. Direction could be more precise."
Anonymous, QC (2012 Honda CR-V)"the 4 cylinder engine is a little slow to respond."
Anonymous, VA (2012 Honda CR-V)"For my style of driving, acceleration and handling are exactly as they need to be. The car is quick to respond to my handling and accelerates quickly, as needed for freeway driving."
Anonymous, CA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Handles great. Acceleration on hills is somewhat hampered by 2.5 Litre engine, especially when AC is in use."
Anonymous, ON (2012 Honda CR-V)"My 2012 Honda CR-V accelerates smoothly and at a reasonable rate. I was very surprised to learn that it was only a 4-cylindar engine. It won't accelerate quite as quickly as a 6 or 8-cylindar vehicle, but it is not too far behind. The ride is solid, as the car is very responsive and handles well in inclement weather. I have had not problem using only aggressive all-weather tires in winter."
Anonymous, NH (2012 Honda CR-V)"The CRV acceleration and handling is very good, but the transmission jumps and bucks in the lower gears when moving from a stop. This is a reason for me not to buy another CRV, but the newer models have CVT, so maybe not a problem."
James S., IN (2012 Honda CR-V)"Terrible acceleration, car become unstable during hard acceleration (pulling back and forth sideways), e.g. trying to pass cars or using on ramps, sloppy steering, too soft a ride (poor road adherence). Under powered engine."
David H., ON (2012 Honda CR-V)"Handles well. Easy to drive. Comfortable."
Anonymous, WI (2012 Honda CR-V)"The Continuously Variable Transmission is remarkably controllable, raising the car's driveability in most occasions, especially descending hills and stop-n-go traffic."
William B., NC (2012 Honda CR-V)"The 4 cylinder engine is ok but it has no real getup and go acceleration."
Anonymous, LA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Good acceleration."
Anonymous, OH (2012 Honda CR-V)"Places to store things and amount of storage space for a car this size is impressive. The design of the fold down rear seats is genius."
Anonymous, CA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Driving experience is adequate"
Anonymous, GA (2012 Honda CR-V)"It does not have an arm support for the passenger seat"
Michel L., QC (2012 Honda CR-V)"It turns on a dime and has great acceleration"
Helen T., OH (2012 Honda CR-V)"this rascal jumps like a colt when I hit the accelerator...really pleased with the responsiveness..."
Donald J., NH (2012 Honda CR-V)"The turning ratio is super."
Peter L., TX (2012 Honda CR-V)"I love the way this car turns like it’s on a dime, accelerates quickly without any lag (even when the air conditioner is running), and is still efficient on gas."
Julie M., NC (2012 Honda CR-V)"Pretty slow in acceleration if you have the ECO button on. It does slightly better with it off and I don't use the ECO mode on the highway. The reason is the car in ECO mode changes gears more often and you have to heavier on the gas. So the ECO mode actually lowers my MPG. The handling with the CR-V is very good."
Robert T., MA (2012 Honda CR-V)"This car is a pleasure to drive in ANY type of weather, as it handles so east and comfortably."
M R., FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"It has an economy setting that acts as a governor. With this engaged, acceleration is dramatically affected. However, if you turn the setting off, gas mileage is dramatically reduced. So, it is a catch-22."
Anonymous, CA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Peppy car - good on the mountain on which we live."
Jessica M., NC (2012 Honda CR-V)"enough power for my needs.comfort is very good."
Anonymous, CA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Expect the ECON mode to be 'lethargic' in traffic. Use ECON only on the open road, where cruise control is appropriate. For in traffic situations, turn ECON off. We put Michelin Defender H+T all season tires on this car, and they improved its handling and responsiveness."
Lanis L., MO (2012 Honda CR-V)"I've owned (9) different Porsches including a 993 Turbo (1996) modified to achieve well over 500 horsepower. Suspension and brakes to match. Loved it. But in fact, I much prefer the silence and simplicity of the Honda CR-V. It's a dependable and "friendlier automobile." I do not miss the Porsches at all."
Douglas G., CA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Has zip and turns on a dime!"
Anonymous, OK (2012 Honda CR-V)"Trouble with climbing steep grades - it has to work too hard and will not do it in the economy setting."
Anonymous, TN (2012 Honda CR-V)"ACCELERATION COULD BE BETTER. HANDLES GREAT."
Anonymous, FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"For it size it has good acceleration and handling in rain and snow has be great."
Tom D., IL (2012 Honda CR-V)"It rides and handles well. Feels to be a very safe vehicle to drive."
D A., NY (2012 Honda CR-V)"The vehicle is predictable: Consistent but leisurely acceleration, the “leans‿ but no sense of being at the edge upon cornering, cabin and slipstream windnoise (not leaks) but still comfortable enough for normal conversation. Predictable, boring, but most important: Dependable!"
Allan J., TX (2012 Honda CR-V)"Has ample power when needed and handling is very stable, especially for this type of vehicle."
David N., TX (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration is slow even for a 4 cylinder. Acceleration in our 2008 Accord with the same engine is much better."
Anonymous, ID (2012 Honda CR-V)"acceleration is good and handles well."
George R., FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"handles well, smooth ride, comfortable for extended driving, acceleration adequate sin using 'econ' mode"
Anonymous, MD (2012 Honda CR-V)"while not what one would call fast, the engine and transmission are fun. The steering is a little twitchy but ride and handling are good."
William W., OH (2012 Honda CR-V)"Quick acceleration when needed."
Anonymous, TX (2012 Honda CR-V)"Vehicle is nimble and has plenty of power when maneuvering in heavy traffic. Cruises well when loaded and driving on Texas' 85 mph Interstates."
Judy K., GA (2012 Honda CR-V)"drives very well"
Anonymous, CA (2012 Honda CR-V)"ease of handling. dislike seat bell constantly on"
Ernest-Clarice L., AZ (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration and handling are better than I had expected, especially since I drive in economy mode all the time. There is plenty of power with two people in he car."
Anonymous, OR (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration is not bad, given the relatively good mileage we get."
Penelope W., NC (2012 Honda CR-V)"Not much to say about acceleration. It is what it is. Not a jack rabbit."
L L., AZ (2012 Honda CR-V)"The CR-V is still fun to drive and the handling is excellent."
Anonymous, NC (2012 Honda CR-V)"My CRV rides well and handles well. Acceleration is good for a four cylinder engine."

Anonymous, ON (2012 Honda CR-V)"Even at 6 years old, this CR-V is responsive and peppy to drive."
Adam B., NS (2012 Honda CR-V)"acceleration ok for this size engine, handling very responsive"
Detlef B., ON (2012 Honda CR-V)"Drives well. Always does what you expect it to."
Douglas M., NJ (2012 Honda CR-V)"I can enter the Interstates easily and safely with the acceleration I get. Very easy to drive and control."
Anonymous, FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration and handling as just like new. All controls function great. The vehicle has been one of the most reliable cars I’ve every owned. Braking had some issues but I simply replaced old hardware. Cornering is awesome and I can rely on 0-60 in a short amount of time. Merging on the interstate is never an issue."
Thomas Q., NH (2012 Honda CR-V)"I don't think it handles snow as well as my previous car (a subaru forester) nor do I think it brakes quickly enough."
Anonymous, MI (2012 Honda CR-V)"extremely hard laboring going up hills accelerating-forget it when the airconditioning is on"
Anonymous, OR (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration is okay, turning radius is outstanding. Steering feels loose, especially on turns."
Anonymous, TX (2012 Honda CR-V)"Ok for 4 cylinders"
Anonymous, FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"Slow response, lacks power to quickly accelerate"
Steve W., NM (2012 Honda CR-V)"Handles very well in all weather, including snow and storms."
Anonymous, ON (2012 Honda CR-V)"Powerful enough for our modest style. Winter handling very good."
Anonymous, MN (2012 Honda CR-V)"It would benefit from additional horse power"
Edward M., OH (2012 Honda CR-V)"The total performance is excellent! It performs far above the ratings indicated in C R."
Horace L., VA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Very good acceleration and a tough little car. The cargo area in back is huge, where we carry everything that does not fit in our RV yet still allows us to carry adults in the back seat. Even so, handling is great."
Anonymous, TX (2012 Honda CR-V)"For being a SUV, it handles very well Steering is responsive and it doesn’t wallow much around corners. It has decent acceleration given the size of the engine and the braking is good"
Frederick G., CA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration is very good and handling in the snow is very stable!!!"
Bob B., MN (2012 Honda CR-V)"acceleration is very good braking is very good high seating feels "unstable""
DALE B., MI (2012 Honda CR-V)"Big blind spots have taken long time to get used to, barely avoided several accidents. Bulbous styling makes it hard to know where the outer edges of the vehicle are. Thank heavens for the backup camera."
Anonymous, MN (2012 Honda CR-V)"exceleration is ok and handling is good. nothing is bad."
WILLIAM H., MA (2012 Honda CR-V)"like the response u get when needed"
Anonymous, KS (2012 Honda CR-V)"My Honda 2012 CR-V has TERRIBLE blind spots. Also, its acceleration is a bit anemic."
MARY M., WV (2012 Honda CR-V)"drives very good/somewhat noisy/road noise"
Anonymous, VA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Poor acceleration. Poor gas milage. Under powered"
DOUGLAS Z., NE (2012 Honda CR-V)"This car drives great with excellent exceleration and handling. It turns on a dime and has never let me down. Love driving it. I've learned to use the back up screen with ease."
Anonymous, NC (2012 Honda CR-V)"comfortable, safety, up high and can see better"
CYNTHIA P., FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"good acceleration onto highways"
Anonymous, NY (2012 Honda CR-V)"Good"
Anonymous, CO (2012 Honda CR-V)"Poor handling on wet or uneven pavement, brakes seem to wear quickly, noticeable tire slippage."
Anonymous, TN (2012 Honda CR-V)"The tires are not good in the snow. When I use the brakes and the ABS clicks in, the car continues to slide. I had Subaru's for years before this Honda and they had much better tires than this CR-V."
JANE S., PA (2012 Honda CR-V)"We like the look and reliability of the CRV compared to the other crossovers of this size. There's only a couple minor details we wish they'd have improved on. One is acceleration like when getting on a highway. You really have to floor it and you can feel your gas mileage suffering when you do but then it cruises well."
ROGER C., KS (2012 Honda CR-V)"For my daughter, this is a superior car. I have a second Honda CR-V as an example of how much I like this car."
A L., NJ (2012 Honda CR-V)"The engine seems a bit undersized for this vehicle, but is in line with the rest of the market. A 6-cylinder option would be preferred for these smaller SUVs."
Anonymous, NM (2012 Honda CR-V)"For our age, the vehicle is too big for us to handle on narrow winding mountain highways. It is good size for a young family or someone who has to take 4 persons on a trip, but size becomes a factor as one ages. It is complicated to downshift on mountain highways; button to third and then manual to second etc. Somewhat slow steering. On the other hand, reliability is excellent especially as compared to other small-medium SUVs."
Anonymous, NM (2012 Honda CR-V)"It needs better anti sway bars."
Anonymous, CO (2012 Honda CR-V)"There is some give to the steering wheel, especially when breaking. Doesn't hug the road."
Anonymous, TX (2012 Honda CR-V)"SEE PREVIOUS"
Anonymous, PA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Intermittent accelerator problem. Sometimes when hitting the accelerator there was no response for 1-3 seconds. This would happen when the car was already in motion. Honda fixed this with a software updated and there have been no problems since then."
Anonymous, NY (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration could be better."
P S., MA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Adequate in both"
Anonymous, CT (2012 Honda CR-V)"Not enough acceleration"
N H., MO (2012 Honda CR-V)"This car is a great performer, but moderately noisy and the seats are rather firm. I wouldn't take on a long trip due to discomfort in the seats."
SAMUEL W., FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"we both like the way it drives in town & out on the highway& the rear video back up assist has been a plus when backing out of parking areas or into a area with something that you are backing up to. Also are well pleased with the mileage we get with it along with it being a four wheel drive."
ALAN D., ND (2012 Honda CR-V)"very versatile vehicle"
Anonymous, WI (2012 Honda CR-V)"Handling is inferior compared to Subaru Forester"
W H., NY (2012 Honda CR-V)"I absolutely love this CR-V but driving in the highway really needs more acceleration. A V-6 would be perfect. I do mostly town driving but would like the extra "umph" when needed"
ANNE F., MA (2012 Honda CR-V)"OK handling but definitely not sporty."
Anonymous, IL (2012 Honda CR-V)"Very poor handling, rapid acceleration (like passing other vehicles) is scary, car pulls side to side and need to hold on tight to not loose control, very poor traction on acceleration, poor covering ability."
DAVID H., ON (2012 Honda CR-V)"We just drove this car to Michigan and back to Maryland and at 71000 miles this car still feels and handles like new. I would recommend this car to anyone. The handling and ride are great as is the amount of luggage that can fit into this vehicle. Except for regular maintenance I have not had to repair anything else on this car."
BRUCE V., MD (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration and handling could be improved. Vehicle needs a little more of a wow factor to appeal to younger generations."
RONALD K., NY (2012 Honda CR-V)"Wish the acceleration was better when getting on the highway"
Anonymous, MA (2012 Honda CR-V)"In buying this car, we realized we really prefer the drive of a fuller sized model - i.e. our Accord EX-L over the Civic-based CRV. There is a big difference in both creature comforts, style and performance. I wish there was an Accord based, mid-sized crossover; the pilot is too big, the CRV - even our loaded EX-L version - is not substantial or impressive enough."
DEBORAH F., NH (2012 Honda CR-V)"Have a (somewhere) in dash rattle that I don't care to try and chase but is annoying. Also I'm 6'2" and my right knee contacts the center console when driving, an uncomfortable feature."
Anonymous, ME (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration is fair at best."
Anonymous, MN (2012 Honda CR-V)"acceleration is a bit sluggish."
ROGER M., NH (2012 Honda CR-V)"This car is underpowered. Lack of acceleration on short-ramp freeway entrances can be frightening."
JEFFREY O., TX (2012 Honda CR-V)"Limited acceleration for passing etc. especially in "economy" mode."
Anonymous, CA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration and passing power is adequate but not great. I have always said that the CR-V needs a stronger engine. Handling and ride comfort are fine."
DON P., NY (2012 Honda CR-V)"4 cylinder doesn't have that much power for rapid acceleration."
JAMES C., MD (2012 Honda CR-V)"The car will not hold the road, you have to correct with steering wheel constantly. When accelerating, sometimes the car just stalls and you have to let off the gas and try again."
GUY G., FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"The turning radius is excellent."
Anonymous, FL (2012 Honda CR-V)"Handling is good but it is somewhat underpowered."
BLAIR G., SK (2012 Honda CR-V)"maybe it's my age but I believe the shocks could be improved"
Anonymous, NJ (2012 Honda CR-V)"Lots of pickup and is compact enough to move through traffic"
Anonymous, VA (2012 Honda CR-V)"This car has an 'Econ' button on the dash. The acceleration performance changes dramatically with Econ ON or OFF. With the Econ button OFF and the cruise control ON, the system behaves like: "Oh my God, he wants to go faster! Hurry up!" But with Econ ON and cruise control ON, the system behaves like: "Oh, he wants to go a little faster. We'll get there, we'll get there.' I have seen people in the Honda forums that apparently don't understand this difference in behavior. In stop/go traff"
LANIS L., MO (2012 Honda CR-V)"Acceleration and timing are a bit sluggish at times, particularly going up hills"
THOMAS A., WA (2012 Honda CR-V)"good accelaration and handling i realy like it"
GERARD M., NH (2012 Honda CR-V)"The engine is spirited and adequate. With the a/c on don't expect good acceleration. I think handling is very good."
WILLIAM M., NC (2012 Honda CR-V)"The only thing that isn't good about the driving experience is the wind noise while driving on highways."
Anonymous, AZ (2012 Honda CR-V)"I has a powerful engine and handles like my civic"
THOMAS Q., NH (2012 Honda CR-V)"Used primarily for in town and local driving: Has the pep and handling to get around streets, parking lots, and handles well in snow and on ice."
HAROLD R., ND (2012 Honda CR-V)"It has gotten sluggish in its acceleration as it has aged."
Anonymous, VA (2012 Honda CR-V)"The vehicle frame on sides of front windshield obscure your vision when making a left turn or right turn. It blocks your view of possible pedestrians crossing right in front of you."
NANCY D., PA (2012 Honda CR-V)"Vehicle handles like a sports car. Has great acceleration when called upon. Economical operation."
JUDY K., GA (2012 Honda CR-V)"After driving my BMW X3, driving my wife's Honda CR-V feels like a piece of crap."
LAURENCE L., IL (2012 Honda CR-V)"Road noise is not good and tends to wander with a side wind. Great car for around town but not so good on a long trip"
Anonymous, MN (2012 Honda CR-V)"The acceleration of the Honda CRV is not what I would expect. It is a little sluggish. The ride comfort is just ok. Nothing to brag about."
WILLIAM O., IL (2012 Honda CR-V)"happy with everything"
Anonymous, AL (2012 Honda CR-V)
"Nimble handling, average acceleration, good turning radius, fun to drive!"
Anonymous, NJ (2012 Honda CR-V)
