There are good reasons Honda sells a lot of CR-Vs: The compact SUV category is white hot, and the popular CR-V checks the main boxes most buyers are looking for in terms of affordability and functionality. Compact dimensions and responsive handling keep it maneuverable, easy to park, and not intimidating to drive. Plus, rear-seat room and cargo space are generous.

What Owners Say

"It is quick and rsponsive, no soft spots and brakes are excelleant"

Craig W., MD (2016 Honda CR-V)

"What I like most is the height of the seats. It is very easy to enter and exit the vehicle. It gets great gas mileage and rides well enough."

Anonymous, FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"SO MUCH FUN!!! I LOVE IT!! I FEEL SAFE AND SECURE!"

David R., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Smooth driving, imperceptible level of noise, and good handling."

Carlos A., MD (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I have to say I really like the CRV overall. But a 185 HP 4cyl is way to little for this SUV. You can constantly feel it pulling to get up to speed. The RDX (sister with Acura) has a nice 265 HP V6 engine. They need to put that in the CRV. Acceleration is sluggish at best and handling is tepid."

Anonymous, MD (2016 Honda CR-V)

"It handles well, not outstanding. Acceleration is adequate and passing and merging capabilities are good."

Anonymous, MA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"good handling - good acceleration"

Anonymous, CO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Very nice car everything is good, this should be what Acura strives for in their lower devision. This CR-V is better than my loaded 2014 acura mdx,I plan on replacing the mdx with a different brand but will replace the CR-V with a new one."

Anonymous, MA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Acceleration is better than I expected (only with ECON mode off). Ride is somewhat stiff so road bumps are transmitted to the driver."

Anonymous, IL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"It has plenty of acceleration and excellent gas mileage."

Stephen W., CO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Adequate for passing..has surge capacity when you need it"

Anonymous, SK (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I love this car! It looks nice, has hydraulic lift for trunk, has a blind spot camera display as well as back up camera, drives very well, no complaints!"

Judi H., FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Honda has done an amazing job with the CVT. Our 2013 Accord had a CVT and this one may be better. It is smooth, accelerates strongly, especially for a four cylinder vehicle and gets great fuel economy."

Robert W., MI (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Handling and steering are very good. The engine provides adequate acceleration. The CVT is impressive and seems to be well matched with the engine."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The CR-V is boring to drive."

Anonymous, NE (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The acceleration is sluggish, especially compared to the Leaf."

Gregg D., VA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Excellent handling, braking, acceleration, and fuel economy. The cvt transmission is very good with 4 cylinders."

Anonymous, OK (2016 Honda CR-V)

"the navigation system will not let us make changes while driving, even with 2 people in the vehicle. The drivers side mirror does not operate like the radar on older models. I have been told the newest models have that protection."

Anonymous, IL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The vehicle is fun to drive. It handles beautifully and acceleration is solid and confident. It feels totally reliable."

Christopher J., MA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Very impressed with the way the CRV drives and handles. We had a Chevy Malibu with a 4 cylinder engine prior to getting the CRV, the handling, and acceleration of the CRV are a significant improvement."

Michael M., GA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"A little underpowered"

Joe G., ON (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Driving is good. However, the cruise control is sluggish in adjusting to going up a hill. It will wait to engage and then shift down or accelerate to compensate. The cruise will not keep the car at the speed set when going down even small hills. This car is designed for city driving on flat terrain. Our other 2007 CRV has better versatility. Cruise is more effective on hills, though it also cannot hold back the vehicle and we often must use brake as the car gains speed going down hills. The"

Anonymous, WA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Smooth driving and easily handling of steering."

RICHARD S., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The transmission is great. Very responsive and gives better mileage."

Anonymous, FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The Touring version of the CR-V has the Honda Sensing pacakage, which includes the Lane Keeping Assist System and Adaptive Cruise control. I have found, even in the short time I have been driving it, that it is more than worth the extra money. The LKAS has already saved me from drifting into other cars or off the road, and the adaptive cruise control really helps on the highway. Additionally, I really like the higher driving position and view of the road that a SUV provides."

Anonymous, FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The only option I got on this car is tinted windows. In spite of such a bare-bones model, I love the comfort, handling, fuel economy, back-up TV, folding down the back seats with push-button ease, wide field of view for the driver, side-passenger air bags, and more. Doesn't feel bare-bones at all."

S C., AZ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Love how it drives. Acceleration is smooth, controlled. Handles most curves very well. Like any SUV. All other handling very nice."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"CVT transmission very smooth. The car is a joy to drive. Engine/ Drivetrain very balanced and harmonized."

GARY C., OH (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Exceleration is great for a 4 cylinder. Good on gas and ease of steering very good."

Anonymous, NY (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The CR-V is equipped with an economic driving mode, which my wife usually has (and was told to have) it on. In that mode, there is an annoying vibration and noise at low speed, normal around-town driving. It is basic transportation and all right, but disappointing."

L W., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"It has a smooth drive, but does't handle the road as well as our Honda Accord."

ERIK C., NE (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Accelerates well for a 4 cylinder and handling feels very secure."

LEE W., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Good turn radius; accelerates ok in the economy mode."

MICHAEL K., TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The car is comfortable, has good acceleration and handling, is fairly quiet on the road, and has really excellent passenger and cargo space. The 2.4L engine performs very well and gets excellent gas mileage."

GARY W., VA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"This vehicle is so smooth, riding and driving. After my 2001 which I had for 16 years, I was ready for some comfort!!"

C P., TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Needs bigger gas tank and more power."

S V., FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Great driving vehicle but is noisy- outside noises."

CECIL S., GA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Very slow during initial acceleration, but at highway speeds it is entirely satisfactory. No problems with handling."

CLIFFORD A., WA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Not really owned very long, but like it so far"

Anonymous, NY (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Very comfortable ride. Engine is so quiet hard to it's running sometimes"

RICHARD S., TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I like the eco feature and the continuously variable transmission"

MICHAEL P., IL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"lane deviation warning, lane keeping assistant system and adaptive cruise control have made driving a lot simpler from the safety point of view. collision mitigation system has already prevented a minor accident."

Anonymous, PA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The CRV rides rougher than previous model It's idle is harder and more noticeable"

Anonymous, PA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The acceleration has improved over the 2013 version, much quicker. Handling is excellent, quick, and responsive."

MARY W., WI (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Comfort"

T K., NJ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"We find the CR-V to be an easy to drive car."

TOM F., NC (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The car has little acceleration and seems cheaply built. It is the worst of the five Honda's I have owned."

Anonymous, NM (2016 Honda CR-V)

"handling is spongy and sometimes to the point of unsureness and fear of taking eyes off road. my 2009 had a better response in handling. feels lanky and unsure. took it back and was told nothing wrong with it. I don't believe it. I will take back after more mile are put on it."

PAUL R., PA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The Honda CRV does not have great acceleration but the handling around turns, road noise and comfort are better than any car I have owned. I love to drive it."

CHARLES W., OH (2016 Honda CR-V)

THOMAS W., TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

WILLIAM D., IL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Smooth."

JAMES M., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Honda CRV's are the best small SUV's made."

SAM C., AZ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Great marriage between motor & transmission. Excellent power."

JAMES T., SC (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The handling and acceleration is very smooth and precise. I've been driving it for almost 4 months now and it handles well on long trips and local driving to my satisfaction."

MICHAEL W., OH (2016 Honda CR-V)

"It has a small engine, but doesn't hesitate when you need to accelerate--it goes. It has a little trouble going up steep roads, especially with the A/C on"

MARK D., AZ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Excellent acceleration and handling"

Anonymous, FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

CHARLES S., CO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"car runs well, handling is still tight with 68k on the car~"

MICHAEL G., NY (2016 Honda CR-V)

"It's all good. I have no fault to find."

Joan K., ON (2016 Honda CR-V)

Robert B., NE (2016 Honda CR-V)

"drives very well, and quite"

Ronald D., TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The CR-V is a great car. I have owned a few Volvos, a Saab, Mercedes, a couple of Nissans and an Infiniti. This my second in a row CR-V. The only SUVs I have owned. Acceleration is excellent and I beat most cars off the line without trying to. The CR-V feel large on the inside, but handles like a sedan for the most part. Rides is surprising well for an SUV. There is some jiggling on uneven surfaces or older paved roads. Handling is almost as good as a sedan. Some body lean on tight turns, but I have never felt disconnected from the road. Driving position is excellent. There are always minor ticks about any vehicle. For the price range and vehicle body type the CR-V is a great ride. Generous cargo space and an airy cabin."

Vincent V., NJ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"CVT does excellent job of providing acceleration and fuel economy while keeping engine in most efficient operating mode."

"Very responsive and easy to drive"

Anonymous, TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I've always loved the accord, but have also had an odyssey and now the c-rv.......I have noticed with all of them for the last 3 leases when accelerating around a corner or a left-hand turn the car loses power when I try to accelerate. I took the Odyssey in a few times but they never found anything wrong, I gave up. But I noticed all the honda cars do it. I'm thinking of switching to Subaru's the next time I lease."

Dwight M., NV (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Difficule to see out rear side windows, thus making it diffficult to backup and park. The visual backup camera is not accurate thus I don't use it."

Barbara C., IL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The engine is underpowered for the automobile's size and weight. As a result, the transmission shifts often and always tends to wind the engine up to very high revolutions prior to upshifting."

Anonymous, NJ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The CVT transmission is lacking when accelerating quickly from a standing start. It is also very noisy. I also dislike the power lag when making an abrupt start as when making a left turn between oncoming traffic. On the positive side, when on the highway using cruise control, it operates seamlessly. I believe that given a choice, I will not buy another vehicle with a CVT transmission in the future."

Anonymous, NY (2016 Honda CR-V)

"A lot of power from the engine"

"The car handles very well and accelerates what we would expect for a 2.3 liter engine."

"Handles very well. Very solid feeling that gives me confidence."

Rhonda G., MD (2016 Honda CR-V)

"For a 4 cylinder it has plenty of get up and go. I like the economy button which I believe helps with the gas mileage. It takes curves at higher speeds than posted very well without any skidding so it holds to the road well. Disk brakes help with the stopping with no fade."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Handling is very good and easy to manage but the acceleration is a little lacking. I understand that it is a 4 cylinder engine but I'd sure like a little more "boost" in the acceleration especially when passing or entering a highway."

Michael G., VA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"handling is good and for a small car the acceleration is quite good. This is the fourth one I have had and believe it to be the best yet and all were good."

"Great pickup and acceleration. My nickname for the Honda CR-V is the zipper."

Lillie W., TN (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Acceleration in the city is find, handles narrow city streets and turns well. In Eco mode, acceleration on highway, especially going up a hill, can be sluggish, not an issue when not in Eco mode. Handles quick lane changes or accelerates for passing on highway or merging well (other than on a hill)"

Arthur R., ON (2016 Honda CR-V)

"While driving on snow or snow and ice covered roads, the rear of the car will try to spin around with almost no notice. the traction and/or stability control doesn't do well in this type of driving conditions. I will not buy the car at the end of the lease."

Curtis M., MT (2016 Honda CR-V)

Christopher J., MA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"We have been surprised at the level (high) of road noise that intrudes into the cabin. The sound quality from the audio system is pretty tinny and disappointing unless the volume is cranked well above safe (for long term hearing health) levels. I'm surprised that at the trim level I leased (next to the top, I think) I still have to use my personal garage opener clicker."

ROLLIE S., MO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The seats are comfortable, but no better than the current state of our 9 year old 2007 CR-V. The leg room is marginal for a tall person and back seat room when front seat is all the way back is not adequate except for a child or a very short person. The back seat leg room is ok if you do not adjust the front seats fully back. The ride is ok, but noisier than our 2007. Climate control is too complicated and the dash board requires one to look at the dash to adjust. Not a good idea in traffic."

"Primarily, the seats. supportive and comfortable. Leather is nice on cold or hot days. Drivers seat is very adjustable, my primary gripe is that the passenger seat is not. Seems poor choice to not have full seat adjustments available for the passenger in a top of the line model. Only other problem with seats is that the seat belt rubs on the seam of the drivers seat and is wearing material. "Noise level high, as CR indicated before I bought it. Love the high seats-- easy for us old folks; no hump in floor of back seat, so I can stow my 3-wheeled walker easily; and ability to open doors to 90 degrees also helps those of us who aren't so agile anymore. A perfect old folk's car for those of us still on the go. And it looks good. L"

"This car has many nice features on it that I like such as power driver seat, heated seat. Dual climate controls. A lot of space for a smaller car. But there are some features I could live with out like the moon roof. And there are some that I would improve on (and in 2017 Honda did) the big issue is the information/entertainment controls with no buttons it is kind of a nightmare. Another issue is no blind spot warming system (before 2017) I do not care for the right lane camera that they use."

After 6 months of use, I couldn't take it anymore so I went and purchased a 2016 Honda CR-V EX-L! What a difference. It had more of the bells and whistles that I was originally looking for in a Honda. The confort, ride, etc. were perfect. I'm a happy camper now!"

"I like my 2016 Honda CR-V, but I actually liked the features of my 2004 CR-V better. I think the interior of the 2004 model was much more user-friendly as far as storage in the dash and center console, and under the passenger seat (there was a drawer). The 2016 model has none of this, and very little storage space for me as a driver or as a passenger. Also, I think the floor of the 2004 CR-V was a much better carpet material than the 2016 CR-V, so I'm somewhat disappointed in those factors."

"Aside from a touch screen that is horrible to manipulate, we picked a real winner with the CR-V in the AWD Touring trim. Well built, it holds up to my wife’s punishing 60 mile roundtrip to work and is ready for us to set a new family record for miles accumulated on a particular auto and keep on going. Has essentially every feature you could want, especially if you are the driver, and the driving safety equipment in particular is outstanding. "Interior has gray seats but cockpit area is black.side panels flooring and dash. Would have preferred all gray interior. Driver seat has electronic controls, Disappointed that passenger seat is not electric. Overall though, I love my CRV and would absolutely purchase another one ."
