There are good reasons Honda sells a lot of CR-Vs: The compact SUV category is white hot, and the popular CR-V checks the main boxes most buyers are looking for in terms of affordability and functionality. Compact dimensions and responsive handling keep it maneuverable, easy to park, and not intimidating to drive. Plus, rear-seat room and cargo space are generous.

What Owners Say

"It is quick and rsponsive, no soft spots and brakes are excelleant"

Craig W., MD (2016 Honda CR-V)

"What I like most is the height of the seats. It is very easy to enter and exit the vehicle. It gets great gas mileage and rides well enough."

Anonymous, FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"SO MUCH FUN!!! I LOVE IT!! I FEEL SAFE AND SECURE!"

David R., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Smooth driving, imperceptible level of noise, and good handling."

Carlos A., MD (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I have to say I really like the CRV overall. But a 185 HP 4cyl is way to little for this SUV. You can constantly feel it pulling to get up to speed. The RDX (sister with Acura) has a nice 265 HP V6 engine. They need to put that in the CRV. Acceleration is sluggish at best and handling is tepid."

Anonymous, MD (2016 Honda CR-V)

"It handles well, not outstanding. Acceleration is adequate and passing and merging capabilities are good."

Anonymous, MA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"good handling - good acceleration"

Anonymous, CO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Very nice car everything is good, this should be what Acura strives for in their lower devision. This CR-V is better than my loaded 2014 acura mdx,I plan on replacing the mdx with a different brand but will replace the CR-V with a new one."

Anonymous, MA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Acceleration is better than I expected (only with ECON mode off). Ride is somewhat stiff so road bumps are transmitted to the driver."

Anonymous, IL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"It has plenty of acceleration and excellent gas mileage."

Stephen W., CO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Adequate for passing..has surge capacity when you need it"

Anonymous, SK (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I love this car! It looks nice, has hydraulic lift for trunk, has a blind spot camera display as well as back up camera, drives very well, no complaints!"

Judi H., FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Honda has done an amazing job with the CVT. Our 2013 Accord had a CVT and this one may be better. It is smooth, accelerates strongly, especially for a four cylinder vehicle and gets great fuel economy."

Robert W., MI (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Handling and steering are very good. The engine provides adequate acceleration. The CVT is impressive and seems to be well matched with the engine."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The CR-V is boring to drive."

Anonymous, NE (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The acceleration is sluggish, especially compared to the Leaf."

Gregg D., VA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Excellent handling, braking, acceleration, and fuel economy. The cvt transmission is very good with 4 cylinders."

Anonymous, OK (2016 Honda CR-V)

"the navigation system will not let us make changes while driving, even with 2 people in the vehicle. The drivers side mirror does not operate like the radar on older models. I have been told the newest models have that protection."

Anonymous, IL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The vehicle is fun to drive. It handles beautifully and acceleration is solid and confident. It feels totally reliable."

Christopher J., MA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Very impressed with the way the CRV drives and handles. We had a Chevy Malibu with a 4 cylinder engine prior to getting the CRV, the handling, and acceleration of the CRV are a significant improvement."

Michael M., GA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"A little underpowered"

Joe G., ON (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Driving is good. However, the cruise control is sluggish in adjusting to going up a hill. It will wait to engage and then shift down or accelerate to compensate. The cruise will not keep the car at the speed set when going down even small hills. This car is designed for city driving on flat terrain. Our other 2007 CRV has better versatility. Cruise is more effective on hills, though it also cannot hold back the vehicle and we often must use brake as the car gains speed going down hills. The"

Anonymous, WA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Smooth driving and easily handling of steering."

RICHARD S., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The transmission is great. Very responsive and gives better mileage."

Anonymous, FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The Touring version of the CR-V has the Honda Sensing pacakage, which includes the Lane Keeping Assist System and Adaptive Cruise control. I have found, even in the short time I have been driving it, that it is more than worth the extra money. The LKAS has already saved me from drifting into other cars or off the road, and the adaptive cruise control really helps on the highway. Additionally, I really like the higher driving position and view of the road that a SUV provides."

Anonymous, FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The only option I got on this car is tinted windows. In spite of such a bare-bones model, I love the comfort, handling, fuel economy, back-up TV, folding down the back seats with push-button ease, wide field of view for the driver, side-passenger air bags, and more. Doesn't feel bare-bones at all."

S C., AZ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Love how it drives. Acceleration is smooth, controlled. Handles most curves very well. Like any SUV. All other handling very nice."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"CVT transmission very smooth. The car is a joy to drive. Engine/ Drivetrain very balanced and harmonized."

GARY C., OH (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Exceleration is great for a 4 cylinder. Good on gas and ease of steering very good."

Anonymous, NY (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The CR-V is equipped with an economic driving mode, which my wife usually has (and was told to have) it on. In that mode, there is an annoying vibration and noise at low speed, normal around-town driving. It is basic transportation and all right, but disappointing."

L W., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"It has a smooth drive, but does't handle the road as well as our Honda Accord."

ERIK C., NE (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Accelerates well for a 4 cylinder and handling feels very secure."

LEE W., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Good turn radius; accelerates ok in the economy mode."

MICHAEL K., TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The car is comfortable, has good acceleration and handling, is fairly quiet on the road, and has really excellent passenger and cargo space. The 2.4L engine performs very well and gets excellent gas mileage."

GARY W., VA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"This vehicle is so smooth, riding and driving. After my 2001 which I had for 16 years, I was ready for some comfort!!"

C P., TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Needs bigger gas tank and more power."

S V., FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Great driving vehicle but is noisy- outside noises."

CECIL S., GA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Very slow during initial acceleration, but at highway speeds it is entirely satisfactory. No problems with handling."

CLIFFORD A., WA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Not really owned very long, but like it so far"

Anonymous, NY (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Very comfortable ride. Engine is so quiet hard to it's running sometimes"

RICHARD S., TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I like the eco feature and the continuously variable transmission"

MICHAEL P., IL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"lane deviation warning, lane keeping assistant system and adaptive cruise control have made driving a lot simpler from the safety point of view. collision mitigation system has already prevented a minor accident."

Anonymous, PA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The CRV rides rougher than previous model It's idle is harder and more noticeable"

Anonymous, PA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The acceleration has improved over the 2013 version, much quicker. Handling is excellent, quick, and responsive."

MARY W., WI (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Comfort"

T K., NJ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"We find the CR-V to be an easy to drive car."

TOM F., NC (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The car has little acceleration and seems cheaply built. It is the worst of the five Honda's I have owned."

Anonymous, NM (2016 Honda CR-V)

"handling is spongy and sometimes to the point of unsureness and fear of taking eyes off road. my 2009 had a better response in handling. feels lanky and unsure. took it back and was told nothing wrong with it. I don't believe it. I will take back after more mile are put on it."

PAUL R., PA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The Honda CRV does not have great acceleration but the handling around turns, road noise and comfort are better than any car I have owned. I love to drive it."

CHARLES W., OH (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Acceleration is not linear."

SHAWN R., PA (2016 Honda CR-V)

JOHN C., SC (2016 Honda CR-V)

"great acceleration for a 4 cylinder. good ride for small suv"

THOMAS W., TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I had been used to a V6 for power & acceleration & have been pleasantly surprised with this 4 cylinder. It has adequate power and acceleration."

WILLIAM D., IL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Smooth."

JAMES M., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Honda CRV's are the best small SUV's made."

SAM C., AZ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Great marriage between motor & transmission. Excellent power."

JAMES T., SC (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The handling and acceleration is very smooth and precise. I've been driving it for almost 4 months now and it handles well on long trips and local driving to my satisfaction."

MICHAEL W., OH (2016 Honda CR-V)

"It has a small engine, but doesn't hesitate when you need to accelerate--it goes. It has a little trouble going up steep roads, especially with the A/C on"

MARK D., AZ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Excellent acceleration and handling"

Anonymous, FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Quick"

ROBERT E., MT (2016 Honda CR-V)

CHARLES S., CO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"car runs well, handling is still tight with 68k on the car~"

MICHAEL G., NY (2016 Honda CR-V)

Chris S., ON (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Very comfortable seats that have a miriad of adjustments that make it easy for anyone to find a comfortable driving or riding position. I owned two Honda Pilots previous to the Highlander. The noise level ride quality of the Highlander is far superior to the two previous and present Pilot models."

Timothy G., OH (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The seats are extremely comfortable and I can drive for 8+ hours without a problem."

Stephen W., CO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Seats a little hard. Brakes a little to sendative"

Joe G., ON (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Ride and the lack of road noise"

David R., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Like heated seats. Would like to set temp more accurately and/or dual climate control. Very appreciative of back seat air vents."

Michael L., CO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Road noise is intrusive but seems to become quieter at highway speeds."

John T., ON (2016 Honda CR-V)

"These are the most comfortable car seats I've ever had. they are leather and relatively flat - no deep V bucket!"

Anonymous, CO (2016 Honda CR-V)

Anonymous, ME (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Perfect package of comfort and layout"

Anonymous, LA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The interior of the vehicle is luxurious feeling. The seats are the most comfortable of any vehicle I've had. The controls are logically and comfortably placed. There is almost no road noise. The ride is quiet. The vehicle handles the road very nicely extremely smoothly. Very comfortable ride."

Christopher J., MA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"We have been surprised at the level (high) of road noise that intrudes into the cabin. The sound quality from the audio system is pretty tinny and disappointing unless the volume is cranked well above safe (for long term hearing health) levels. I'm surprised that at the trim level I leased (next to the top, I think) I still have to use my personal garage opener clicker."

T S., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Not as comfortable seats as the Honda Oddyssey-better than the older model CR-Vs though."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"On occasion we get the smell of gasoline in the passenger cabin. This happens intermittently while the vehicle is moving. It's not exclusive to being in park."

Chris H., WI (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The seats are NOT very comfortable with this model CRV LX"

Anonymous, FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The a/c vents cannot be completely closed. The BEST car a/c vents was on a PT cruiser. Would be nice if other manufacturers would copy the PT."

KAY T., FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"more road noise than exped"

Anonymous, ME (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I don't like the driver seat for trips over one hour. It gets uncomfortable."

SCOTT Z., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Seating front and rear are comfortable, with leg room. Ride and handling comfortable. Acceleration hesitates when accelerating quickly from stop or slow travel. The phone onboard phone system cannot be synched to Honda system (only certain carriers are synched)."

GEORGE G., PA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Front seats aren't long enough to provide leg support on longer rides. Seat just isn't long enough"

Anonymous, NY (2016 Honda CR-V)

"road noise ..hard seats needs more knee room...center consol shifter prevents knee from laying over and makes feel cramped"

DAVID D., TN (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Seats are okay but the passenger seat does not have any adjustments other than forward and back and seat recline."

ROLLIE S., MO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The seats are comfortable, but no better than the current state of our 9 year old 2007 CR-V. The leg room is marginal for a tall person and back seat room when front seat is all the way back is not adequate except for a child or a very short person. The back seat leg room is ok if you do not adjust the front seats fully back. The ride is ok, but noisier than our 2007. Climate control is too complicated and the dash board requires one to look at the dash to adjust. Not a good idea in traffic."

Anonymous, WA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I like everything about the CR-V except acceleration."

GARY B., CO (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The neck restraint is horrible! It cause me severe neck pain and even difficulty turning my head. On longer drives this will continue even after I'm out of the car. I had to flip it around backwards so that I can drive. Also, the back support is horrible. I paid more money to get the adjustable lumbar support but i still need a pillow."

LEANNA C., SC (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Wish front legroom was slightly better"

LARRY C., ID (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Noisier than I'd like on the highway- sound system quality is mediocre"

"Not enough leg room in front seats."

S V., FL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Several "surprises": next to highest trim level doesn't have built-in garage door opener; front seats offer little lateral support and become quite uncomfortable after about 30 minutes of driving; road noise is surprisingly intrusive at speeds above about 50 mph; should be able to unlock both front and rear doors on drivers side when grasping the front door handle (for convo eminence of stowing groceries and the like); "premium" audio system is surprisingly middling in sound quality;"

T S., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Not enough thigh support on the passenger's seat."

Anonymous, MA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Great vehicle for younger adults. The back row is extremely uncomfortable for me,a mom in her 50'son, no complaints from college kids. The front seats are uncomfortable on long road trips for the parents, but not the kids. Has a noisier cabin on road trips than our equinox."

BENNETT A., IL (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Seats. There is a horizontal seatback seam that runs directly behind my shoulder blades. This feature annoys me, putting a bump in what I think should be flat surface. Perhaps the seat could have been designed with vertical delineation?"

Anonymous, WA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"The placement of the seat controls on this model is prone to adjustments when getting in and out of the vehicle. I typically have to readjust my seat every time I drive because my leg touches the controls enough to change them. I would like them to address this on future models."

David R., CA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"This car has many nice features on it that I like such as power driver seat, heated seat. Dual climate controls. A lot of space for a smaller car. But there are some features I could live with out like the moon roof. And there are some that I would improve on (and in 2017 Honda did) the big issue is the information/entertainment controls with no buttons it is kind of a nightmare. Another issue is no blind spot warming system (before 2017) I do not care for the right lane camera that they use."

Jim L., MI (2016 Honda CR-V)

"We also looked at a Toyota RAV4 and a Suburu Forester. In our opinion the Honda CRV was a better value."

This is the first Honda I have owned and time will tell if it is as good as I think it will be. I don't kow if this is related to Honda corp., dealership, or some other related company but i have gotten a ton of calls trying to sell me an extended warrentee that I don't want. Maybe 30-40 and they say they are from different company. They calls come from many different states. If they do..."

"For the price of the CRV EX L, I think Honda could have provided a powered tailgate. The hatchback door is heavy and requires two hands to close so you must have both hands free. Instead they put the powered tailgate feature on their touring model which was significantly priced higher."

MARGARET S., AZ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Good value for the price"

"Have had problems in getting warranty work on the CRV. Get a lot of reasons why things are the way they are, but have had little luck getting anything fixed."

ANTHONY M., AZ (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I purchased a 2015 Honda CR-V LX at full value and was not happy with it. It has nothing to write home about. It was pretty plain jane! After 6 months of use, I couldn't take it anymore so I went and purchased a 2016 Honda CR-V EX-L! What a difference. It had more of the bells and whistles that I was originally looking for in a Honda. The confort, ride, etc. were perfect. I'm a happy camper now!"

JILL M., NY (2016 Honda CR-V)

"For the amount paid, we expected to get more fully automatic controls on items such as as auto rear gate opening, all side cameras, seat controls. We would have to have paid several thousand more for the "touring." Model."

ADELE C., MD (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Top model under$30K"

RICHARD S., TX (2016 Honda CR-V)

"We went to look and purchase a 2015 leftover, they ultimately didn't have what we wanted, but rather than let us leave the offered us a 2016 for the price we wanted to pay for a 2015 leftover."

"Salesman told us rubber mats asked for were included; after delivery, he told us this would be $200 plus extra. Black carpet-constantly needs vacuming and otherminor details."

"I feel that the safety and dependability are paramount in the vehicles that my family drives. The CRV exceeds my expectations in both areas"

CURTIS C., IN (2016 Honda CR-V)

"I paid $21,682 for a basic LX (plus taxes). Considering the quality, practicality, available space, and long-term reliability of the vehicle, this is very good value. I was surprised at how much car this was for less than $22,000."

GARY W., VA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Comfortable, decent fuel mileage, plenty of room"

"I like my 2016 Honda CR-V, but I actually liked the features of my 2004 CR-V better. I think the interior of the 2004 model was much more user-friendly as far as storage in the dash and center console, and under the passenger seat (there was a drawer). The 2016 model has none of this, and very little storage space for me as a driver or as a passenger. Also, I think the floor of the 2004 CR-V was a much better carpet material than the 2016 CR-V, so I'm somewhat disappointed in those factors."

SHERRIE L., MN (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Used ConsumerReports buying service and got an excellent price compared to what others have paid. When the dealer tried to add package of add-ons. Since some of them were worthwhile I only paid half the asked amount for the entire package"

"Comfort"

DEBBIE L., PA (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Even though the CRV base package did not have all the safety and phone/audio features I would like, it was attractively priced and Honda's hold their value so well and overall are very reliable, that I was able to give up some wants to have a car that would perform well and hold it's resale value."

SANDS M., MN (2016 Honda CR-V)

"Excellent value. I do wish that my Honda had an overhead window, heated seats, and more internal storage space. Next time, I will request these features."

Anonymous, FL (2016 Honda CR-V)
