What Owners Say
"Check engine light was on. It was clogged"
Anonymous A., WA (2008 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)"One of the sliding doors, on the passenger side, doesn't always reliably open or close. About half the time it stops and reverses, and it makes some pretty bad noise. I've tried to reach out to the local Honda dealership to get an estimate before bringing it in, but have not heard back twice. We had a similar issue on a former Toyota minivan and a private repair shop just disabled the sliding functionality because the repair would have been exorbitantly expensive."
Anonymous, WA (2008 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)"Needed new alternator"
Anonymous, OH (2008 Honda Odyssey 3.5-L V6)"After the battery died and was replaced it was very difficult to reset the monitors to check emissions for smog certification. The tech said it had to be driven at least 200 miles but that didnt work. Three mechanics, three new catalytic converters, and over $4,500 spent, and it still wasnt reset. Finally went to a dealership where they said there is some trick to resetting the monitors on older Odysseys. They did it in a couple of hours for $350.00. After that the vehicle passed smog inspection without any problems."

"Catalytic converter I think there are two? One was called the downstream cc and the other something else. The first one went out and I made the tough decision to fix it for $3000 dollars (because the car is only worth 4000-6000). Then, ten days later the second downstream one went bad and I had to replace that. Apparently the two failures were not related (double checked with a second mechanic). I was just unlucky. Went in because of the check engine light."
