    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Catalytic converter

"Catalytic converter I think there are two? One was called the downstream cc and the other something else. The first one went out and I made the tough decision to fix it for $3000 dollars (because the car is only worth 4000-6000). Then, ten days later the second downstream one went bad and I had to replace that. Apparently the two failures were not related (double checked with a second mechanic). I was just unlucky. Went in because of the check engine light."

Anonymous, CA (2008 Honda Odyssey Touring 3.5-L V6)

"Check engine light was on. It was clogged"

    Anonymous A., WA (2008 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)
    Other/unsure

"One of the sliding doors, on the passenger side, doesn't always reliably open or close. About half the time it stops and reverses, and it makes some pretty bad noise. I've tried to reach out to the local Honda dealership to get an estimate before bringing it in, but have not heard back twice. We had a similar issue on a former Toyota minivan and a private repair shop just disabled the sliding functionality because the repair would have been exorbitantly expensive."

Anonymous, WA (2008 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)

    "Needed new alternator"

    Anonymous, OH (2008 Honda Odyssey 3.5-L V6)

"After the battery died and was replaced it was very difficult to reset the monitors to check emissions for smog certification. The tech said it had to be driven at least 200 miles but that didnt work. Three mechanics, three new catalytic converters, and over $4,500 spent, and it still wasnt reset. Finally went to a dealership where they said there is some trick to resetting the monitors on older Odysseys. They did it in a couple of hours for $350.00. After that the vehicle passed smog inspection without any problems."

Anonymous, CA (2008 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)

    "Replaced alternator"

Anonymous, TX (2008 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    A/C compressor

"Air conditioner spontaneously pumps out heat for a certain amount of time (often for hours). Then spontaneously turns itself back on. One that happens, even turning off the air conditioner and fan doesnt help. Heat continues to come out. Happens irregularly but increasingly often."

Anonymous, CA (2008 Honda Odyssey Touring 3.5-L V6)

"In 2019 there was a leak in the AC piping at the back. We had that part cut off and, for $400, had our AC back in the front which was adequate. Last year, the compressor died and, with an estimate of about $1800 to repair, we opted to go with no AC."

Anonymous, ON (2008 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)
    Other climate system problem

    "just needed more refrigerant"

Anonymous, MD (2008 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)
    Refrigerant leaks

"A/C quit putting out cool air. The repair shop pulled out the appropriate units, repair the leak and refilled with freon. Everything works now"

Anonymous, WA (2008 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)

"air conditioning lines had a leak and need replacing"

Anonymous, SK (2008 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)

    Anonymous A., WA (2008 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)
    Driveline vibration

"We had increased vibration on highway driving. Mechanic replaced engine mounts, tie rods and did a bunch of work; seems to have rejuvenated the car."

Anonymous, SC (2008 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)

    Engine Minor

"Oil pump leaking as well as gasket covers"

Anonymous, GA (2008 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)

"Engine began burning oil and I had to add oil in between normal oil changes. Because of the oil situation (oil was not leaking, never any drops on the garage floor), I had the dealership provide a new head gasket, new rings and gaskets for the pistons."

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2024 vehicles are holding up in 20 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, electric motor, EV charging, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical accessories. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

A vehicle that runs out of fuel and stalls has an increased risk of a crash.
    Summary:
Delphi Automotive Systems, LLC (Delphi) is recalling certain replacement fuel pump modules, part number FG1155-11B1, sold for use in 2005-2010 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The affected fuel pump may send an incorrect fuel reading to the fuel gauge possibly causing the vehicle to run out of fuel. The fuel gauge will always read 3/4 full to full regardless of the actual level.
    What should you do:
Delphi has begun notifying dealers and distributors, and will replace the fuel pump modules, free of charge. Owners may contact Delphi customer service at 1-877-411-8770. Delphi's number for this recall is GL14-004.
