Reliability History Reliability History The reliability charts are based on responses on hundreds of thousands of vehicles from our latest Annual Auto Survey. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Anonymous, TX (2010 Honda Odyssey EX-L 3.5-L V6)
Fuel cap

"Fuel door sensor broke, disabling the left sliding door. The sensor housing is plastic, which became brittle and failed. Honda repair would have been expensive. Repaired myself with electrical tape. Biggest annoyance was the time it took to figure out how to get to the part efficiently"

Radio

"We have a comprehensive subscription to XM satellite radio, but when using the knob to change channels, it will jump from, for example, Channel 15 to a channel over 100, when we pay for many of the channels in between. Efforts to tune to those channels in between with the knob inevitably meet with failure and frustration"

"There is a "Factory bulletin on the books that if the oil consumption increases after computer adjustment, Honda will rebuild the engine, "due to bad rings". The problem this could happen at anytime. I mean while you are driving oil levels go to very low without warning. I have convinced the local service manager to put our car on a consumption test; hope that works they say this will be " under warranty""

Anonymous, FL (2010 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)

"Twice since I have had the car, the engine accelerated unexpectedly as I was trying to stop. Once about 5 years ago and I second time last week. I pushed the brake as had as I could and finally shifted into neutral. The car stopped and the acceleration ceased and the car operated normally. I'm not sure what caused the problem"

William M., KS (2010 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)
