    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2018 Honda Odyssey owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Fuel System/Emissions

Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank.

    What Owners Say

    Fuel injection system

""Emissions System Problem" warning appeared on dashboard. Eventually, by taking to dealer, found issue has technical bulletin associated with it. Fixed at no cost. Since then, same warning appears. I've put injector cleaner into fuel on several occasions. Working so far, but I'm wondering what ongoing warnings are telling me."

    Anonymous, MI (2018 Honda Odyssey EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"It was evidently failing and the dealer replaced it at no cost as it was under warranty. The only symptom that was evident was a bit of hesitation in acceleration and a slightly reduced gas mileage."

    Anonymous, IL (2018 Honda Odyssey EX-L 3.5-L V6)
    Fuel pump

"loud obnoxious noise from car with stuttering. Dealer search for several days. Eventually stating it was related to a clogged fuel line/pump"

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)

"I already provided details to this question."

Anonymous, IN (2018 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)
    Other emissions/fuel system problem

"When the van accelerates it hesitates a few seconds. Honda has a recall on the fuel pump for the van and model year. The dealer hasnt received the parts or tools yet to complete the work yet."

Anonymous, IN (2018 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)

"Smells like gas. Found out gas was leaking from manifold that feed gas to the injectors. Also had three separate episodes with a car appeared to be stuck in low gear and would not advance had to place in neutral and then back in gear or stop the car off and start again to get it going Honda could never find the reason for this problem"

Anonymous, VA (2018 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)

"Fuel pump is running like crap, its kicking emissions codes which, light goes on and off all the time, sometimes there is poor engine response, but Honda does not not have the parts to fix. We considered getting a pilot but after this current experience we will stay away from Honda. 2200 to change a timing belt, 1100 to replace torn boots on ball joints, quoted up to 4500 due to a crap fuel pump."

Anonymous A., VA (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)

    Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

    What Owners Say

    Master cylinder

"Started after new brakes were installed. Would only be noticed after van had been driven for 10+ minutes. Sounds like a metal on metal grinding, and can hear fluid movement when braking."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)
    Premature brake wear

"Had to replace break pads twice in 59,000 miles."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)
    Rotors

"Only 59000 miles and had to replace rotors twice. Still some brake pedal vibration with new aftermarket rotors."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)

"Car had new brake shoes when I purchased but they were inferior quality. The vibrations when braking started at the end of the first winter which I thought may be due to the roads not the car. Once it warmed up and the roads were dry it continued. It most often happens when Im slowing down from highway speeds. Its rather scary. My husband replaced the front rotors and its less significant but still there."

Anonymous, MN (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)
    Squeaking

"Brakes squeak often despite trying different auto shops for brake jobs. No one can seem to completely fix the problem."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Display screen goes blank

"While driving the display screen will display one of a handful of messages (radio unavailable, error code, etc.) and the system will shut off for the remainder of the drive. I have been working with my local Honda dealership for the past 4 years to fix, but they continually replace parts/update software and tell me that it is fixed, but they have not yet managed to resolve the issue longer term. This is very frustrating and is taking a lot of time. I would not consider buying another Honda after this experience (and consistently driving a Honda for the past 25 years). Mechanically, the car is great, but so much of the driving experience is now controlled by the infotainment system."

Anonymous, ON (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring 3.5-L V6)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"I don't know if it was the bluetooth or android auto. Honda replaced the front and rear harnesses. All has been good for 10 months. Honda did have my car for 3 months but gave me a car to drive at N/C. I have had a problem since the first day I purchased the vehicle. All is really good now."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda Odyssey EX 3.5-L V6)
Rear entertainment system (e.g., DVD player, rear screen)

"Overheats and stops working on long trips when you need it most. You have to car off for a minute and open drivers door to reset. There is no way to reset without stopping."

Anonymous A., GA (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)

    "dvd doesn't work"

    Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda Odyssey 3.5-L V6)

    Noises/Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Air or water leaks

"when it rains, it leaks water on the drivers feet/ankles now smells moldy"

    Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda Odyssey 3.5-L V6)

"THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS DISCUSSED BEFORE. SEAL LEAKED AND CAUSED THE MOTOR PROBLEMS"

Anonymous, NC (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)

"This air leak problem related to the Ill fitting sunroof"

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)
    Seals and/or weather-stripping

"The top seal on the back hatch leaked and caused the wiper blade motor and the hatch lift to cease working. Expensive repair $1200"

Anonymous, NC (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)

    Suspension/Steering

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

    What Owners Say

    Ball joints

"Boots are both torn at 5 1/2 years 100k . 1100 to fix torn rubber because they have to replace the entire control arm."

Anonymous A., VA (2018 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite 3.5-L V6)

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.

    What Owners Say

    Locks and latches

Anonymous, MA (2018 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)
    Seat controls - manual

"Same issue as described. Wasn't sure of appropriate category."

Anonymous, MA (2018 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5-L V6)
    Seat controls - power

"The power seat stopped working. The motor failed. Because the motor is welded to the frame of the seat, the whole seat had to be replaced. This cost several thousand dollars to replace out of warranty."
