What Owners Say
"Although I like this car, the brakes seem to be a weak point. The brakes seem to need a lot more servicing than other cars I've had. I find I'm spending more money keeping the brakes in shape than I should."
Anonymous, ON (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"time to replace front brakes rear brakes OK"
Anonymous, MN (2014 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"65000 on original rear brakes."
Joseph D., SC (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Brake pads seem to wear out sooner than other vehicles we have had."
Anonymous, OH (2014 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"truck would shake when brakes were applied. Gradually got worse resulting in not driving"
Anonymous, (2014 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)"Brake rotor warped, as a result, there was a pulsation/vibration. Had new pads and rotors installed and it was fixed."
Anonymous, IN (2014 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)"Warped rotors. Has happened one previous time on this car."
Anonymous, MN (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"The disc rotors have had to be turned at least four times since I purchased this vehicle in 2014 November. This is very unusual for a Honda. My previous 2001 Honda Accord V6 was at 240,000 miles on original rotors and they had never warped, so that should tell you that I am not hard on my brakes. This rotor issue is definitely a design flaw in the Pilots of this style."
Anonymous, (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Brakes, rotors and wheel balance cause a significant amount of vibration and pulsation while driving when starting to wear. Vehicle tends to pulsate at about 70 miles per hour for no apparent reason."
Anonymous, (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"July of 2017 we went up to mountain ride and the brake started to feel vibration every pressed on and took to shop later on to fix and replaced new pads and rotors But they only were 20 thousands miles on them"
Anonymous, NC (2014 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"Rotars warped cause shaking"
Anonymous, PA (2014 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)"Rotors had to be turned because of pulsing problems when applying the brakes"
Anonymous, MD (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Unexplained cupping on the rotors resulting in vibration when brakes applied with moderate pressure."
Anonymous, FL (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Purchased certified used from our local Honda dealer. Noticed within a week that the rotors were warped. Should have been discovered/repaired during the inspection process before being sold. Was not covered/repaired by dealer afterward. Is not covered on the extended warranty."
Keith H., CA (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"We must turn the rotors frequently. I believe this is a weakness in design."
Anonymous, TX (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Shortly after purchasing the Pilot i noticed front end shaking when decelerating from around 60mph. Honda dealer resurfaced the rotor and that fixed it for a few months. It started doing the same thing again when decelerating at speeds over 45mph"
John T., TX (2014 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"Front brake rotors turned twice; original brake pads still ok"
Joseph J., OH (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"warped brake rotors"
Randy T., TX (2014 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"They were warped and had to turned down when the vehicle only had about 27000 miles on it"
Anonymous, PA (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Vibration during braking caused by rotors being warped"
Patrick M., CO (2014 Honda Pilot 3.5-L V6)"warped"
Anonymous, NJ (2014 Honda Pilot 3.5-L V6)"pulsation in brakes when braking at higher speed. found out the front break rotors warped and had to be resurfaced"
Garry M., NE (2014 Honda Pilot LX 3.5-L V6)"Car would shutter when I applied brakes as speed above 50 mph. I went to the dealer and had the front brakes replaced at 50k miles, much sooner that my 2007 Pilot. After a few months the problem returned and the dealer said I needed new front rotors even though they had be turned when the brakes where repaired. I complained that the rotors and front breakers failed prematurely since I don't ride the brakes nor use the much since most of driving was on the highway, stop and go traffic."
Anonymous, FL (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"The original rotors had to be turned in the first 25000 miles. The rotors were replaced by Honda around 40,000 do to more warping. The replacements had to be turned at 70000 miles due to warping. All front rotors. Never had a problem at such short intervals like this in all my years of driving."
Anonymous, PA (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Had the rotors resurfaced at 33000 miles and replaced at 68000 miles and they need to be done again."
Anonymous, AZ (2014 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)
"The front calipers, in my opinion, failed too soon while traveling through the mountains. Violent shaking!"
