This version of the Accent is a significant improvement over the previous generation. It is pleasant to drive with a relatively comfortable and quiet ride. Fuel economy is very good, but trails the best in its class. Unfortunately, ABS may be difficult to find, and its omission hurts braking performance. Our GS hatchback came well equipped for the money, but the higher end GLS is not a particularly great deal.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

"Paid 1,000$ to have the power steering fixed in th last year!"

Melinda C., NC (2009 Hyundai Accent)

"This car accelerates crisply and handles like a sports car. It doesn't get the best gas mileage for a little car but I believe it would whoop a Honda Civic to 60. It came to me with 104k on it. Timing belt recommended at that mileage so a new belt and water pump installed. It has a quirk that makes it start here after refueling. ."

Owner-satisfaction Ratings are determined by the percentage of those who answered "definitely yes" to the question asked by the Consumer Reports Annual Auto Survey "Considering all factors (price, performance, reliability, comfort, enjoyment, etc.), would you get this car if you had to do it all over again?". If we don’t have sufficient data, a similar model might be used to form the owner-satisfaction score.
