This iteration of the Accent scored near the top of our subcompact rankings in both the sedan and hatchback versions. While there's nothing fancy about this car, it does hit the mark for sensible transportation. It's particularly economical to buy and run -- we got 31 mpg with the GLS sedan with an automatic and 32 mpg for the stick-shift Sport hatchback.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"Too little interior room. No console."

DAVID J., DE (2013 Hyundai Accent)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"The ride needs improvement. I don't mind compromising sporty handling for a less bumpy ride. In this car, I feel every bump in the road."

Anonymous, IN (2013 Hyundai Accent)

"It takes a long time for the a/c to cool off the car and road noise is terrible. You can hear every bump on the road as you drive."

Anonymous, NY (2013 Hyundai Accent)

"Excellent Air Conditioning cools the car to 70's even when it's 115+ degrees outside! (Do have dark tinted glass.)"

RAND H., AZ (2013 Hyundai Accent)

"The seats get umcomfortable on long drives. The Air conditioner struggles to stay comfortabe when stopped or driving slow once the weather gets 90+ degrees. The blue backlight on the in dash stereo is too bright at night, with no way of turning it down to an acceptable level"

Anonymous, MO (2013 Hyundai Accent)

"road noise in the cabin"

HUMPHREY S., ON (2013 Hyundai Accent)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Very reliable--has a host of features that my Mazda 5 doesn't have--i.e. cruise control and heated seats. Only down sides are poor acceleration (in eco mode and with a/c on) and seats are definitely not comfortable enough for even moderate highway trips."

Anonymous, ON (2013 Hyundai Accent)

Anonymous, QC (2013 Hyundai Accent)

"Hyundai beat the competition on features for the price. And their warranty was the best."

Owner-satisfaction Ratings are determined by the percentage of those who answered "definitely yes" to the question asked by the Consumer Reports Annual Auto Survey "Considering all factors (price, performance, reliability, comfort, enjoyment, etc.), would you get this car if you had to do it all over again?". If we don’t have sufficient data, a similar model might be used to form the owner-satisfaction score.
