It blends an enjoyable driving experience with practicality, and almost all of our praise for the gas-powered Kona holds true for its electric sibling. Clearly, the electric version costs considerably more but it doesn't emit any tailpipe emissions and benefits from low running costs. The Kona Electric has a robust range of 258 miles, as estimated by the EPA, and it transforms the driving experience thanks to its quick, smooth, and quiet acceleration.

Like its conventional sibling, the Kona Electric has spry handling and little body lean, making it quite enjoyable to drive. However, it also has a rather stiff ride.

In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"Garbage information in the GPS as far as locating charging stations. The worst was directing me to a location off of I-95 to a dead end dirt road to a charging station that did not exist. Also takes you to charging stations located in gated, resident only charging stations. And stations located in other brands (BMW, Mercedes, etc.) car dealerships which are not there for Hyundai's use."

Keyless entry

"Door locks malfunction as is described in the Kona EV owners manual, even in warm weather (July). The dealer did not warn me not to move from the area (which I did not know I was going to do) as their dealer support is incomplete as is their complete lack of dealer based charging support. No dealer in Florida was or is able to service the known door lock problem on this car. Hyundai was completely unresponsive in assisting me in this problem. Will NEVER buy another Hyundai (or Kia). The worst experience in my 40+ years of purchasing autos."
