Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid

Latest Model

2024 Model Redesign Year
The midsized Santa Fe SUV has been redesigned for the 2024 model year, giving it boxy styling and a striking interior along with a standard (albeit small) third-row seat. We tested both the conventional model with its 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, and the hybrid which combines a smaller turbo-four with electric drive and a conventional six-speed automatic. For 2026 models, the dual-clutch transmission on the non-hybrid was replaced with a conventional eight-speed automatic. The hybrid proved the better pick; it's smoother at low speeds and significantly more fuel-efficient, at 34 mpg overall, although it accelerates a bit more slowly. Regardless of the powertrain, the Santa Fe's handling is responsive, the ride is steady and comfortable, and the cabin is reasonably quiet. The dash features a large, curved screen that integrates the dual 12.3-inch displays for the driver's instrument screen and the infotainment system.
The cargo area is generous and the rear hatch opening is wide.

2024-Present

2024 Model Redesign Year
The midsized Santa Fe SUV has been redesigned for the 2024 model year, giving it boxy styling and a striking interior along with a standard (albeit small) third-row seat. We tested both the conventional model with its 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, and the hybrid which combines a smaller turbo-four with electric drive and a conventional six-speed automatic. The hybrid proved the better pick; it’s smoother at low speeds and significantly more fuel-efficient, at 34 mpg overall, although it accelerates a bit more slowly. Regardless of the powertrain, the Santa Fe’s handling is responsive, the ride is steady and comfortable, and the cabin is reasonably quiet. 2021-2023

2021 Model Redesign Year
The Santa Fe fits above the Tucson and below the larger, three-row Palisade. The hybrid version, added for 2021, comes with a 1.6-liter turbo engine, got 30 mpg overall in our tests, and also rides more comfortably than the gas-only Santa Fe. We think it's the best version to get. A 261-hp plug-in hybrid with 30 miles of electric range is also available. The standard model's 191-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder is a bit weak and noisy. The optional 2.5-liter turbo is much more powerful but is mated to a dual-clutch automatic that causes low-speed vibrations.
The Santa Fe's cabin is roomy, with a generous rear seat and cargo space. The interior is stylish, but the center console is a sea of buttons, and the push-button gear selector is tricky to use without looking over at it. FCW, AEB with pedestrian detection, BSW, and RCTW are standard.
