Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"The air conditioner went out after about 10 years. The ride has gotten quite bumpy; I had new, good-quality shocks installed by my mechanic, who has always done great work, but it didn't change the ride at all. However, I don't know whether the mechanic or the car is to blame."

Anonymous, UT (2005 Hyundai Sonata)

"very comfortable seating, front & rear AC is in excellent condition, never been serviced. Have done all scheduled maintenance per Mfg's recommendation. Never had to use my warranty, even though it cost me $1830.00 (Feb 28, 2005) Best vehicle since I bought my 1St car in 1959"

FRANK O., FL (2005 Hyundai Sonata)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"We have had this car for 12 years and have kept it maintained. We have had no major repair issues, just standard maintenance. The biggest expense was replacing the timing belt due to age. The has been a comfortable, reliable, car. The 6 cylinder issues gives it pep. I only wish it had ABS brakes."

Anonymous, IL (2005 Hyundai Sonata)

"The initial cost of the vehicle was fair, but the recommended maintenance costs have been excessive, much more than other vehicles I have owned. For example, the recommendation for replacement of the vehicle's drive belts was 40,000 miles earlier than a Saturn vehicle I previously owned."

MILO C., MN (2005 Hyundai Sonata)

"THE best vehicle I have ever owned, bought it new. New York service centers for Hyundai are all scum bags. Had my Hyundai service at Savage Hyundai, Shillington, PA At this dealership you are dealing with human beings."

FRANK O., FL (2005 Hyundai Sonata)

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"Worst paint I ever encountered on a car--within two years of purchase it was scratched by a PAPER GROCERY BAG. Within 5 yrs the hood and trunk lid were blotchy and sun-faded"

PAUL H., AZ (2005 Hyundai Sonata)

"It looks great when I first got it in 2005 but after approximately one year the paint on the front and rear bumper began to chip and peel. I understand from auto body shops that this is because the bumpers are plastic not metal and an extra process was not used to adhere the paint to the plastic. It was corrected the following year!!"
