Lexus CT 200h

No question, there is a need out there for a plusher Toyota Prius, combining fuel economy and versatility with added luxury. The Lexus CT 200h tries to take the mantle, but leaves a lot to be desired and ultimately, doesn't really live up to expectations. The good news: It gets an impressive 40 mpg overall. But if you expect a Lexus experience in a small package, chances are you'll be disappointed.

    Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

    What Owners Say

    OSCAR O., FL (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"I didn't add enough of the options, this is just a base model lexus."

Anonymous, AZ (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

    "It is terrible in smow"

Anonymous, MA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Acceleration was typical for an electric car... but being a Lexus, one expects better, and it's disappointing."

    JASON S., WA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Very sporty and seem to hold road well in dry conditions. Drives poorly in winter, snowy conditions, even with snow tires"

Anonymous, MA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

    "Very good."

    GLORIA A., FL (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"I half expected it to be slow off the mark since it's a hybrid, but it accelerates just fine and zips up hills with no problem. No problems merging into traffic on expressway."

    JAMES S., KY (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Quite acceptable, in general, however extreme road-noise. Its too low to get in or out in many situations because of the height of sidewalks. MPG has a problem in that it discriminates. My wife gets 48 and I can't get above 44mph!"

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"The CT-200h F-Sport does not get enough credit for the cornering and handling. My other cars are a BMW 3-series and Toyota MR2. The CT F-Sport can easily out corner both. The anti-roll dampener does a great job and I know of no other cars besides F-Sports which have it."

    LARRY A., AB (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"This car can move out quickly at speed for passing on country roads. Moves like any other performance car. Like to use the 'sport' setting when needing that instant power."

    RICHRD R., NC (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"It handles like a sports car, especially in the power mode."

    Paul S., NY (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Acceleration is excellent. I didn’t expect that in a hybrid. Handling and response is excellent. It is fun to drive and feels very safe in its handling."

    Wendy L., WA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Handles and accelerates well. Not great visibility with lots of blind spots. Rear camera view is on rear view mirror which makes it difficult to see clearly."

Anonymous, FL (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Acceleration is quite slow. Modern hybrids get better fuel economy and are faster. Handling is responsive and it is fun to hustle along a winding road, as long as fast acceleration is not required."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Handles well, but my Prius would easily beat it in a race. Car's style and its performance are completely mismatched."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"The CT 200h handles well; it has good brakes and is capable of averting sudden hazards. Acceleration is terrible from a stop, however once you get going, as on the freeway, the acceleration is excellent."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"I LOVE driving this car in the city. It is much less satisfactory on the highway. It is way too small inside for a "family " roadtrip."

Anonymous, VA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Our car has the F Sport handling package. It does its job well, giving the car accurate steering and great handling making the car fun to drive."

    George O., CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Considering it’s a hybrid, this car drives like a sports car especially when engaging then “sports mode‿ - this car eliminates all of the downfalls of driving a hybrid car (compared to Civic hybrid previously owned)"

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"I bought the Lexus, which is a hybrid, to offset the horrendous MPG I get on the BMW, which is a performance car. As such, I don't expect the Lexus to have hot performance. It handles and accelerates better than any other hybrid on the market."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"The CT200H Fsport has excellent handling on turns and going around curves. The media road tests do not give it the credit it deserves."

    Larry A., AB (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Responsive steering and good acceleration for merging into traffic"

    Beth G., TN (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"In normal gear, it is a bit slow acceleration. In sport mode, it has great acceleration. The car answers the wheel very responsively. It has good balance and a good ride."

    Dennis K., CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Because it’s a small car, it handles quickly. I feel like the car was built for me!"

Anonymous, GA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"poor acceleration. Engine makes a lot of noise but it doesn't but not much else happens."

    Fred-Christine M., MN (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

    What Owners Say

"excellent car, confortable excellent gas millage , drives very well"

    OSCAR O., FL (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Suspension noise when going through even road"

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

    "Sleeping that'll road noise"

    STEVE N., FL (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Overpriced for value new. Not very comfortable on long ride. Handles poorly in snow even with Michelin snow tires. Brakes sometimes skip when braking on hill. Was told it was because it's a hybrid vehicle. First year I did not get very good gas mileage . Low 20's and was frustrated. Only drive 4-5000 miles a year, so it was not broken in yet! Now with 16,000 miles, I am finally getting anywhere from 43 - 51 mpg which is great, but took 3 years to get there."

Anonymous, MA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Back seat leg room is very limited!"

    JOHN M., GA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Passenger seat needs better lower back support. It sinks too low for maximum comfort."

Anonymous, DC (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"We've owned three hybrids (CMax, Prius, CT 200h) This is hands down the most comfortable to drive around in. Seats are comfortable. electronic adjustments work well (addition of seat position memory/presets would be nice). This cabin is also much more quiet, and there are no blind spots. ON THE OTHER HAND - the C-Max and the Prius both have much larger cargo areas. CT 200-h works great for groceries and big-box-store-trips, but for for Home depot or Ikea home project-type trips, the other two"

    REBECCA C., DC (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"My partner (male) bought this car without me. I hate this car. The passenger seat presupposes someone 6 feet tall and does not electronically adjust. When I drive it, it is practically PAINFUL to reach behind me to grab the seat belt. As I said, I hate this car."

Anonymous, NJ (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Driver seat does not slide back very far, driver has limited head room to look out at the outside mirror... I have to duck my head to see into the mirror or check to the immediate rear."

    RICK G., KY (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Feel every bump. Tires seem very small so every bump is a big one."

Anonymous, PA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

    "Stiff ride"

Anonymous, TN (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"The CT 200h is well appointed and looks more expensive than the sticker price - wish they had continued to produce this model."

    Kathryn K., OH (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Noise factor is okay, but the ride is somewhat harsh and not cushy enough, especially on rough roads."

Anonymous, NY (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Feels like a cheap car. Super loud inside when driving, small seats, sad acceleration and power."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Easy to get in and out"

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"It's a very nice car, but the back seats are just not very comfortable, and it's kind of dark in there."

Anonymous, WI (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"ride is poor, seats are fine but it is not a lexus. Its a prius with a lexus name on it."

    Fred-Christine M., MN (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"The CT 200h is very noisy for a Lexus. It rattles over every bump and does not have a smooth ride at all. The engine is also very noisy, infringing on the quiet of the cabin. The seats however are very comfortable and easily adjusted."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Seats are good for people shorter than 6 feet and under 180 lbs. Tolerable but not great for 6'2" 220 pound me."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"great memory seats and smooth ride for a smaller car"

Anonymous, MB (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Confotrable ride, low noise level, very comfortable seats that wrap around you."

Anonymous, FL (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"The six-way power seats are a feature used by the two drivers for their own personal satisfaction. Also, the lumbar adjustment is a nice feature."

Anonymous, NM (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

    What Owners Say

"Owning a hybrid with the Lexus styling and reliability within a small footprint is a plus."

    KATHRYN K., OH (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"dealer asking 18,600. bought 14,250 by waiting till end of second month to buy."

Anonymous, NC (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"I did considerable research about used CT200h's. I had a 2013 CT200h on lease with 35,000 miles on it, so I was looking at paying 25 cents per mile over 36,000 miles. I loved this car. So Looked for over a month and found a 2013 CT200h with 12000 miles on it, which cost just $1400 more than I could have purchased, under my lease terms, my then current 2013 CT200h for. So I paid the additional $1400 and got the same car with 23000 fewer miles on it, plus a Lexus certification -- 2yr/20000 mile"

    PETER F., CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

    "Excellent value."

Anonymous, DC (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

    "Excellent car."

Anonymous, NY (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Although I'm not getting the mpg that were quoted, I do have better gas mileage than with any other car I've owned. I wish the dealer that sold me the car had told me that to get the best gas mileage, I would need to change my driving habits by accelerating slower and watching tthe instruments to make sure that I drive using the battery"

    EILEEN O., OR (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

    "Safety features"

    Brian S., CA (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

    What Owners Say

"It's still stylish compared to other vehicles even though it's a 2013 model. When I first got it a couple of young blonde women circled it in a parking lot and said "We like your car!" A pleasant surprise for an old man like me!"

    JAMES S., KY (2013 Lexus CT 200h)

"Visibility is awful. Lots of blind spots."

    KATRINA G., IL (2013 Lexus CT 200h)
