The Mazda6 is among the sportiest family sedans. In addition to being fun to drive, it is roomy, quiet, and quick. It also has a high-quality interior. Road noise is a bit pronounced. Fuel economy is not a strong suit with the powerful V6.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"Good handling and acceleration."

"very satisfied on the car"

"The Mazda 6 with inline 4 is a great blend: there is plenty of power, I never feel the need for more, yet is very nice on gas, as well. If we had the 6 cylinder, the fuel penalty would outweigh the bit of extra oomph. Having driven Accords, Fusions, Camrys from 2013 (and more recent) for work, I'd say that the Mazda 6 is the best handler of the bunch. This was greatly improved when we switched to Pirelli P7's (a top pick in your tire test). That tire just matches really well with the chassis dynamics of this vehicle."

Richard L., NC (2013 Mazda 6)

"It is my wife's car and she is pleased with the whole package."

Robert B., ON (2013 Mazda 6)

"Put larger wheels/tires on a large improvement"

Joel N., KY (2013 Mazda 6)

"Very peppy for a 4 cylinder, has a good sports car firm ride and handles good in turns and S bends"

Lawerence G., PA (2013 Mazda 6)

"Fun to drive. More like a sports car. Quick, responsive handling."

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Comfortable seats. They are long enough front to back to support your legs. Road noise is more than we like."

Anonymous, NY (2013 Mazda 6)

"I prefer a car and the 6 gives me all the comfort, driving dynamics, and stability I need."

Robert B., ON (2013 Mazda 6)

"Driver's seat is very comfortable. There are brands I won't buy because seats are horrible on back e.g., Ford products, Nissans."

Anonymous, NJ (2013 Mazda 6)

"Can take extended driving trip without feeling punished. Stopped suddenly and was not sure engine was running, it was so quiet. I have put 17 inch wheels with cinturato series P7 tires-nice!"

Joel N., KY (2013 Mazda 6)

"Great seats compared to other "standard sized family cars" from five years ago. Five hours behind the wheel is no problem! Wind noise is a little higher than rental Camry and Accord I have used, but much of the other cabin noise was cured by switching to Pirelli P7's (from the loud OEM tires): made a HUGE difference in interior noise. The blend of comfortable ride quality and best handling in its class are huge pluses for this vehicle."

Richard L., NC (2013 Mazda 6)

"The car is relatively noisy and I am particularly unhappy with how low the carriage is. The piece under the front bumper has broken because the concrete blocks and curbs used to stop the car are too high."

Anonymous, PA (2013 Mazda 6)

"Lot of road noise"

Anonymous, MI (2013 Mazda 6)

"Seating is uncomfortable bucket seats to deep"

Anonymous, WI (2013 Mazda 6)

"Could be quieter inside"

JANICE K., TX (2013 Mazda 6)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Acceleration is small, due to it being a 4 cyl"

Anonymous, TX (2013 Mazda 6)

"I have driven this car everywhere across Canada and it performed flawlessly. It is large enough to carry plenty of stuff. I am a mid sized car fan and this has fulfilled all my needs and expectations."

ROBERT B., ON (2013 Mazda 6)

"In 2012 I was going to purchase another Mazda 3. Dealer put me in this much more stylish and comfortable model for only 2K more. All Mazdas are rocks in reliability and handle great.Wish it got a little better city mileage but I use it mainly for short trips daily. 30+ on Hwy."

D N., FL (2013 Mazda 6)

"Good price for what is included."

Anonymous, PA (2013 Mazda 6)
