2026 Model Redesign Year
The redesigned CLA compact sedan is available in both EV and hybrid versions. The all-electric variant is available with rear- or all-wheel drive, promises a driving range close to 350 miles, and is capable of using 800-volt DC fast chargers for speedy charging. The 85-kWh battery powers two electric motors in the all-wheel-drive CLA 350 4Matic. Total system output is 349 hp. The rear-drive CLA 250+ has a 268-hp electric motor that drives the rear wheels. The hybrid version will go on sale later.
Most functions, including adjusting the front-seat lumbar, are accessed through the center touchscreen, while the steering wheel controls are largely touch-capacitive 'buttons' that are annoying to use. Our testers found the interior very cramped and outward visibility challenging, especially the over-the-shoulder view. The CLA EV rides and handles well, and the all-electric powertrain is very strong.
