Introduction
2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS Three Rows of High-Tech Comfort
The super-luxe SUV gets super-fancy with a dashboard-wide 'Superscreen'Overview
The Mercedes-Benz GLS flagship SUV delivers three rows of total luxury. Along with its closely related midsized counterpart, the GLE, the full-sized GLS SUV gets a high-tech update for 2027, with more powerful engines, an interior rework featuring a trio of screens spanning the dashboard, and refreshed styling that’s heavy on the Mercedes-Benz logos.
The 2027 model may look more ostentatious inside and out, but the two engine choices carry over from the 2026 GLS with some notable upgrades. Both incorporate a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to improve fuel economy and smoothness. The top-trim GLS 580’s turbocharged V8 engine was tuned for an additional 20 hp and 15 lb.-ft. of torque. The turbocharged six-cylinder in the GLS 450 gained an additional 44 lb.-ft. of torque, all in the name of increasing responsiveness.
Pricing will be announced closer to when the GLS goes on sale in the second half of 2026.
It competes with the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80, Land Rover Range Rover, Lexus LX, Lincoln Navigator, and Volvo XC90.
Powertrains are a 375-hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, 9-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive; and a 530-hp, 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine, 9-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive.
The estimated price range is $95,000-$120,000.
The on sale date is the second half of 2026.
The final assembly point is Tuscaloosa, Ala.
