The freshened Nissan Maxima has a roomy interior, logical controls, and quick acceleration. However, the ride is ordinary, handling is not agile, the turning circle is wide and the car can be somewhat squirrely under hard acceleration. In some ways, the less expensive Nissan Altima is a better car.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

What Owners Say

“I love to drive my Maxima except for two things - the turning radius is awful and, despite being a front wheel drive car with all season tires, it does not handle well in the snow.”

JOEL V., NE (2008 Nissan Maxima)

“Fun to drive. Solid feel of the road. Yes, it has a little torque on full acceleration, but you get used to that. OverAll, A READY GOOD FUN CAR (OK NOT MUCH GAS MILEAGE).”

JOHN G., CT (2008 Nissan Maxima)

“It seems the turning radius of Nissans in general (we've test driven a few as well) are not tight at all. Love the cars, hate this drawback”

LISA D., IA (2008 Nissan Maxima)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

“Heated seats no longer work and it's not the fuse. Suspension is too stiff since they made it sporty. I liked it better when it was a luxury model. I'll find another car with more comfort next time. Hate the headlights. Can't see without the brights when it's dark out.”

Anonymous, MA (2008 Nissan Maxima)

“The front seat display little form fit to the passengers.”

Anonymous, CA (2008 Nissan Maxima)

“Hard seats, noisy”

NEIL C., SC (2008 Nissan Maxima)

DAVID J., FL (2008 Nissan Maxima)

Percentage of owners who would definitely purchase that same vehicle again. Owner-satisfaction Ratings are determined by the percentage of those who answered "definitely yes" to the question asked by the Consumer Reports Annual Auto Survey "Considering all factors (price, performance, reliability, comfort, enjoyment, etc.), would you get this car if you had to do it all over again?". If we don’t have sufficient data, a similar model might be used to form the owner-satisfaction score.
