The Murano scored very well in our tests and is a competitive model in the crowded SUV market. We like its powerful engine, nimble handling, strong brakes, comfortable rear seats and relatively good fuel economy. However, a stiff ride, limited rearward visibility and its use of premium fuel are notable drawbacks.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"smooth cvt and very nice handling for an suv"

William F., AB (2007 Nissan Murano)

"2007 was just a better car. Still performs well when I'm driving it. Wish I could find another 2007. Responds to accelerator and handles better than the 2014."

Melinda A., CA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Good accelleration, smooth ride, quiet. Great traction for all road conditions."

Patrick W., IA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Excellent acceleration and handling around curves."

Anonymous, ME (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Over the past year I've had to replace a lot of suspension parts. I believe there is too much torque created for the suspension parts to handle. When cornering, the handling is quite unsure and the ride is rougher than expected."

Anonymous, AR (2007 Nissan Murano)

"This is a six cylinder car. But for an 11-year-old car it’s still passes well at 75 miles an hour with big trucks on the road. 5000 miles ago I put Michelin defender XLT tires on the car per your recommendation. Car handles much better than any of the other two types of tires I have had on the car.On wet pavement all the hydroplaning I have had before totally disappeared. any of the other two tires I ever had before. Hydroplane on what Rose at high speed has totally disappeared."

Richard E., MO (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Good acceleration and average handling"

Anonymous, PA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Accelerates and handles very well."

David L., CA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"The continuously variable transmission has been working well. Acceleration is strong and smooth. Handling has always been good."

Vincent B., CA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"The CVT provides very smooth accelleration with no lag or jolts"

Gary F., MN (2007 Nissan Murano)

"The acceleration is outstanding and it retains its speed without any hesitation when you have to pass another vehicle."

Cheryl B., NC (2007 Nissan Murano)

"strong acceleration,"

Anonymous, CA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Accelerates smartly, especially for a 6 cylinder engine with automatic transmission. Shift bump / vibration is non-existent with CVT type transmission. Handling is quick and responsive."

DOUGLAS Z., AZ (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Bad steering wheel issues with car twice. Won't buy another one"

Anonymous, OH (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Great power and acceleration"

Anonymous, NM (2007 Nissan Murano)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Fairly quiet ride, but the vehicle has a rather stiff suspension. Seats are very comfortable and support the back well. Wish that the lumbar support adjustment would be adjustable up & down as well as forward & backward."

Anonymous, ME (2007 Nissan Murano)

"very comfortable leather seats with multi-way adjustments and heat"

William F., AB (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Front seats are exceptionally comfortable. Driving position is very effective."

Anonymous, GA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"The Murano has a widely known issue with the seat bracket breaking. This of course only happens when it is under stress (you're in the seat) It is NOT considered a defect and costs about $1000 to fix. Mine, like many others broke while I was driving down the road. An utter embarrassment to the company. Luckily I was able to maintain control. My first Nissan will likely be my last. This says nothing of the poor engineering of the doors and interior. Not impressed at all. And it's not age, I've owned many 10 year old cars."

Corey C., MN (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Quiet, comfort and adjustments long driving"

Anonymous, CO (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Seats are firm and very supportive. The design keeps you secure."

Cheryl B., NC (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Everyone who gets in the backseat comments about how much room there is in the back. They say this is a lot bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. NB. I do not understand why you’d be interested in a car that’s 11 years old. When you do the reviews, you don’t go back that far. Seems like you should not be asking me about my 11-year-old car. You also were asking me questions about built-in communications with cell phones which this car does not have."

Richard E., MO (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Wide seat bottom. High level road noise. Stiff choppy ride."

Anonymous, PA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"driver's seat welds broken. cannot move seat in any direction."

Anonymous, MO (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Car seems solid. Seats are comfortable and there is plenty of leg room in the rear. Purchased the "S" model and should have gone for the "SL". Too many niceties left off the "S" that make driving that much more comfortable. No auto climate control. No auto lamp function. No power front passenger seat. No leather. No heated front seats."

TERRY M., UT (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Seats could be more comfortable on long trips."

BARBARA B., MO (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Once I replaced the Goodyear tires with Michillen tires it is quiet and great for long trips"

JON T., CA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"A/C could be improved"

Anonymous, NM (2007 Nissan Murano)

"It is exceptionally roomy and very comfortable."

Anonymous, GA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Car is more noisy when in operation than I like. Tire noise and interior squeaks and rattles are above average. No issues with climate control. Drivers lumbar support is either broken or ineffectual."

DOUGLAS Z., AZ (2007 Nissan Murano)

"comfortable, nice ride, climate control"

Anonymous, CA (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Driver seat was broken underneath and we could never get the dealer to do anything about it,."

JUDY B., AB (2007 Nissan Murano)

"I was afraid the driver's seat mounting would break, like so many other owners of 2000-2007 Muranos, but fortunately it has never happened to me. After 8 years the car is becoming noisier and the ride more bumpy."

JOHN W., ON (2007 Nissan Murano)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"My repair experience with my 2007 Murano has been terrible. I bought it new in November of 2007, and since then I've had a total of $15,300 in maintenance and repair costs (including two new sets of tires) over the first nearly 10 years of ownership. To me this is way above normal. It feels like I purchased a lemon, to be honest with you. Or, maybe it's just because the engineering/design of the car is so poor. I would definitely steer people away from buying this car as a used car. And I..."

John B., WI (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Would have thought that the quality of the dash and door materials would have been better for the price that I paid for this vehicle. Also, the tire air warning light never worked properly from the time I bought the car. While still under warranty, it was still never fixed at the dealership. I paid to have it repaired at a private repair shop and that didn't work either. Definitely faulty system."

KATHLEEN D., NY (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Was purchases used as a 3 year old car, reasonable value."

PETER S., NJ (2007 Nissan Murano)

"Compared to similar vehicles it was a good value. It is very roomy with lots of storage. I'm pleased they didn't try and put a third row seat in."

MARILOU E., MO (2007 Nissan Murano)

"My 2003 Murano was stolen and not recovered. AAA insurance settled my comprehensive claim with enough to obtain a GREAT deal I found on this 2007 Murano. I am very pleased with the settlement and the quality of my newer car."

CHARLES D., AZ (2007 Nissan Murano)

"I consider the value of a vehicle purchase to include the dollar amount of repairs necessary to maintain the vehicle. The cost of repairs I've incurred have been absolutely unacceptably high. If I hadn't paid so much for the vehicle when new, I probably would have gotten rid of the vehicle after 3 or 4 years. But, because of the huge amount of depreciation incurred during that time, I felt I needed to keep the vehicle for the long haul, and I was therefore stuck as far as the continuing high"

JOHN B., WI (2007 Nissan Murano)

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"A lot of money to pay for the inferior quality of the materials used in this vehicle. Terrible dealership service in general from Nissan. Would never purchase another Nissan because of their dealerships."
