The Nissan Murano is a comfortable SUV with high interior quality and refinement. While it has lost some of its sportiness, Murano gained a quieter, more comfortable ride. Its powertrain delivers lively acceleration and relatively good fuel economy. The rear seat and cargo area are roomy. Rear visibility remains a problem, a victim of styling. A blind-spot detection/lane-departure warning system is available.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Anonymous, IL (2009 Nissan Murano)

R R., SC (2009 Nissan Murano)

"like the CVT transmission with no shift points for smoothness and ability to find the sweet spot in its power banded-- cvt has now developed slack at idle to first acceleration around 140K miles"

Anonymous, AR (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Acceleration is entirely adequate, perhaps to the detriment of fuel efficiency. Handling is entirely adequate."

G S., ND (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Strong acceleration and secure handling. Great turning radius"

"The car accelerates very well between 40-80 mph. I never have a problem getting onto the freeway."

Anonymous, AK (2009 Nissan Murano)

"The Murano still handles and drives great, even after almost 10 years on the road. Quick & smooth acceleration from the CVT and it handles well over bumps & through turns."

Andrew S., IA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"One of the main reasons I bought the Murano is because of the CVT transmission. There is no jump in the automatic transmission as it shuts gears. I never liked that in the Toyotas I drove previously. The Murano accelerates smoothly and has great pick up."

"Good acceleration"

PHILIP M., NY (2009 Nissan Murano)

"The front seats seem to be bigger and wider than those in other similar in size SUVs. They are very comfortable. I also like that fact that there is no"hump" on the floor of the back seat. 3 people are able to ride comfortably in the back seat. It is very roomy."

Ann-Felice F., LA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Leather seats and very comfortable"

Anonymous, MA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Low noise level, comfortable seats, good ride."

G S., ND (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Generally comfortable but driver side window has annoying buzzing noise at highway speed, which road noise was less."

Anonymous, PA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned. The seats have just the right amount of cushion and support. Noise level is excellent, and the ride is very smooth"

Dominique J., MN (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Leather Seats are very comfortable and no wind noise comes through windows. Very comfortable long distance car."

Anonymous, IA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"I really like the heated seats for winter driving. They're also very comfortable with a variety of settings to adjust to my body and I get to save those settings so they're ready for me every time I get in to drive. I also like that the seat retracts and the steering wheel goes up when I turn the car off and open the door. This makes it easier to exit and enter the vehicle."

Anonymous, AK (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Omforrable but noisier than most other vehicles. We've had other Nissan vehicles that had excessive road noise"

Robert O., IN (2009 Nissan Murano)

"The 2009 murano is our second, the first was a 2004 murano it served us so well we bought another. The cars were both very trouble free, great on long trips, comfortable quiet cruisers. My complaints woulD be poor fuel mileage and dealer service."

"seats"

Anonymous, MA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"We took a 4700 mile road trip. The car performed well, it is comfortable to ride in and the road noise is not an issue. I have been a passenger in my sisters suv (Honda) and you can not have a good conversation with the frontend of the car due to road noise in the car with windows rolled up."

JIM P., WY (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Not a lot of space with car seat in back."

Anonymous, TX (2009 Nissan Murano)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"200,000 miles and haven't even started considering a new car yet."

Chandler C., MA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"We have had this car for nine years and it has done all we asked of it. It still looks great and runs great. We had a few recalls and warranty repairs, but it was all handled very well."

G S., ND (2009 Nissan Murano)

Anonymous, SC (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Actually a good deal by the dealer,."

Anonymous, CA (2009 Nissan Murano)

Kerry L., WA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Very reliable, good acceleration, decent gas milage, comfortable."

Anonymous, TN (2009 Nissan Murano)

"The Murano has been a very good value to own and operate, given the vehicle's overall quality, reliability, and features."

Anonymous, GA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Murano was suggested by by my mechanic as the best he ever owned--I agree . Almost no repairs. Looks and feels like new. Nissan good on warrenty and recalls."

A R., AZ (2009 Nissan Murano)

"has cost me very little to operate over the years and still rides solid and comfortably"

Anonymous, AZ (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Features of a Lexus but for a lot less money."

Anonymous, PA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"I have had this car for over 10 years and nothing significant ever went wrong. The only thing I had to have covered under warranty were the tire sensors due to living in Chicago and having the road salt corrode the sensors. Other than that the car has performed flawlessly. I do maintain the vehicle by the book . I was also involved in a significant accident and the vehicle handled the accident extremely well - I was able to drive away from the accident and despite the extensive damage the car was mechanically undamaged - something I credit the build quality to."

Bryan C., IL (2009 Nissan Murano)

"The steering tilt & telescope motors went bad with very low mileage but after the warranty was expired. Corporate Nissan would not help in the replacement of the motors. The local dealership helped some with discounts. After checking the internet, there were many other owners that had the same issue, some that corporate helped in the corrective costs."

Tamara H., AK (2009 Nissan Murano)

"very comfortable on read trips and handles well on road"

James G., AR (2009 Nissan Murano)

"It's served us well, but maintenance costs have been excessive. We've owned the car 9 years and have put roughly $20000 into maintenance and repairs."

Dave B., VA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"excellent gas mileage for the power it has"

JERRY B., TX (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Nissan uses quality components giving the car a luxurious feel at a reasonable price."

Anonymous, PA (2009 Nissan Murano)

"No mechanical problems in 7 years of ownership and 80k miles. None."

Anonymous, TX (2009 Nissan Murano)

"All around excellent car with great capacity for hauling cargo around"

BRUCE M., OH (2009 Nissan Murano)

"Terrible the exact definition of lemon. I would need a book to tell you all the issues I have had with this vehicle. I am personal friends with the Nissan mechanic, which is NOT a good thing."

SHANE H., MD (2009 Nissan Murano)
