The Nissan Murano is a comfortable SUV with high interior quality and refinement. While it has lost some of its sportiness, Murano gained a quieter, more comfortable ride. Its powertrain delivers lively acceleration and relatively good fuel economy. The rear seat and cargo area are roomy. Rear visibility remains a problem, a victim of styling. A blind-spot detection/lane-departure warning system is available.

What Owners Say

Transmission rebuild or replacement

"Totally fed up with Nissan over this. Nissan dealer said that a solenoid failed in the transmission - could not be fixed - and we had to pay $4000 for a rebuilt transmission. Sign of very poor quality in design etc of this vehicle."

Cheryl T., SC (2013 Nissan Murano SV 3.5-L V6)

"Transmission failed when just out of warranty. I had to write to the CEO of Nissan to get reimbursed approximately $1600. Took several months to get reimbursed."

Anonymous, NC (2013 Nissan Murano SV 3.5-L V6)

"Went to back out of a parking space when there was a bang and the transmission became very rough. In forward, the transmission was very rough and oisy till it reachex it's CV speed and then it ran fine. First and second gears are mechanical and apparently the gears fell apart and rattled around in the bottom of the transmission and kept getting caught in other areas of the transmission. The transmission finally failed the day before it was scheduled to go in to Nissan for repair. The car had to be towed. Nissan said they would pay 50% of the repair bill. My half turned out to be $3,100 to Nissan and another $700 for a car rental. Transmission still doesn't seem to be working properly. Car will be going back in to Nissan."

"The car required a new transmission. The automatic gear changing was not working"
