Transmission Major
Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, clutch replacement.
What Owners Say
"The transmission had an intermittent shimmy at low speed in a turn. The transmission was replaced and no more problem"
Anonymous, TN (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"The Pathfinder started to make a strange winding noise, car would start to buckle like a horse. Took the car back to Nissan of Woodbury and they stated, much to our surprise, the vehicle needed a new transmission"
Ralph S., NJ (2014 Nissan Pathfinder S 3.5-L V6)"Multiple trips to dealer with transmission issues until a refurbished transmission was installed"
Anonymous, TX (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"The transmission was shifting inappropriately when driving the vehicle at highway speeds causing the vehicle to lurch forward/sideways dangerously. The problem took approximately 6 weeks to have corrected by the dealership where we bought the vehicle. They ultimately figured out that the transmission needed to be replaced to be safe again"
Anonymous, TX (2014 Nissan Pathfinder S 3.5-L V6)"Recall of transmission- replaced on warranty"
Anonymous, NV (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL 3.5-L V6)"Had transmission replace twice. A lot of visit to service dept with transmison problems"
Anonymous, TX (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"Numerous obvious transmission fault indications led to Nissan replacing entire transmission"
Anonymous, CA (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"had to install a new cvt under warranty at 38000km"
Anonymous, ON (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"Initial transmission slipped and skipped badly. Replaced on a recall and has worked perfectly since."
Norma M., GA (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"Had transmission shudder problem in June 2018. Took it to dealer and they replaced the transmission under warranty. Afterwards the transmission did not feel quite right. In Sept 2018 the transmission would start shaking and shuddering under load. Took it to dealer where they replaced the transmission a second time... plus they kept it for 1 month. This 3rd transmission feels better and has not been an issue so far."
Chris H., QC (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL 3.5-L V6)"The first issue was with the original dealership. The dealership rebuilt the transmission. It had to be replaced by another dealership near our current residence. (750 miles away)"
Anonymous, TN (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL 3.5-L V6)"2nd transmission rebuild in 3/2019 @ 30K miles. 1st time was in 2015 with less than 6K miles. Given the low mileage and average, safe driving, this seems like an unreasonable and extensive repair to have had to do twice in under 5 years."
Bryan L., NY (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SV 3.5-L V6)"This is a problem Nissan knows happens with the CVT transmissions. The transmission slipped and roughly jerked constantly. They even extended the warranty to 85,000 (I believe) because of it. Unfortunately my vehicle was already over that mileage limit when it started, but we had purchased the extended warranty and it covered the replacement. If we had not had the extended warranty it would have cost over $5,000 to replace the transmission in a 3 year old vehicle. I contacted Nissan about the problem, but they never responded back to me."
Cherri T., GA (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL 3.5-L V6)"Required a new transmission at 62,000 km due to wear on internal chains."
Anonymous, ON (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL 3.5-L V6)"At 4900 miles our 2012 Pathfinder needed a new transmission"
Patricia F., TX (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"Transmission failed at 2000 miles. Took over a week for a replacement. No problems since"
Erik N., CT (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL 3.5-L V6)"Transmission kept slipping gears. Required a full transmission replacement under warranty"
Anonymous, NH (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"Transmission shifted roughly at times, Was replaced under warranty"
Anonymous, SC (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL 3.5-L V6)"Transmission was replaced at ~12,000 miles. Car was shuddering under light acceleration, after transmission replaced the shuddering stopped"
Anonymous, TX (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"Vehicle was shaking during acceleration just after making a turn (such as a street corner) - whole transmission had to be replaced (covered by warranty)"
Anonymous, CA (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SV 3.5-L V6)"On the 2nd transmission, with 3 updates on the software. Acting like it's about to go again"
John N., TX (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"at 3000 miles, the transmission failed. Dealership had the car for a week to replace it with a new one. They also replaced transaxle with a rebuilt one after promising to only use "new parts." They also scratched the console. I'm not happy"
Anonymous, PA (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"going from a flat grade to an uphill grade the car would shake and not accelerate"
Anonymous, AZ (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL 3.5-L V6)"Transmission slipping, tech recommended replacement instead of repair."
Anonymous, OK (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"CVT transmission failed twice under warranty. The first time at 60k miles and the second at 87k miles. The CVT's warranty was voluntarily extended by Nissan due to poor reliability. On the second failure, the transfer case failed as well. Even though the transfer case failed as a result of the failed transmission, Nissan refused to cover the replacement under warranty. Through their consumer claims team, Nissan finally agreed to cover 75% of the replacement cost of the transfer case. $1,200 later, the Pathfinder's transmission and transfer case were replaced."
Anonymous, (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 3.5-L V6)"While driving the car at about 90km/h, there was a sudden increase to about 3000 to 4000 RPMs on the tachometer and intermittent lurching of the vehicle. The intermittent lurching continued for many kilometres with the car driving smoothly at 90 km an hour at times as well but the RPMs remained higher than they should be at that speed. I drove directly to a nearby Nissan dealership. I was told there was complete transmission failure due to a transmission coolant leak. I hadn't noticed any sign of a coolant leak; fluid under the car etc. but had noticed the higher than normal rpms on the tach. over several days prior to the lurching problem. There was only just over 79,000 km on the vehicle and fortunately the repair was covered under basic warranty. They replaced the transmission and its radiator at no cost other than some minor shop costs. I was told that this would have been a nearly $6000 cdn. repair. Approximately one year later there is now 94,000 km on the odometer and there have been no problems."
Anonymous, ON (2014 Nissan Pathfinder S 3.5-L V6)"Transmission started shifting roughly. Dealer said it had a condemn code and needed replacement. $4000 later with new factory transmission it runs like new again."
Anonymous, CO (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL 3.5-L V6)"Factory recall. I did not experience problems. Dealership rebuilt the transmission at no cost to me and I have had no problems with it since"
Anonymous, FL (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SV 3.5-L V6)
"Transmission module and transmission both replaced under warranty"
Jim F., ON (2014 Nissan Pathfinder SV 3.5-L V6)
