Reliability History Reliability History The reliability charts are based on responses on hundreds of thousands of vehicles from our latest Annual Auto Survey. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Owner Satisfaction Owner Satisfaction To learn about satisfaction, CR has collected survey data from our annual survey on more than half a million vehicles. Our subscribers provide great insights into their satisfaction by answering one simple question: If they had it to do all over again, would they definitely buy or lease the same model? In addition, respondents also rate their cars in six categories: driving experience, comfort, value, styling, audio, and climate systems. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

What Owners Say

Shocks or struts

“After having the car for one month, I started to hear clicking noises coming from the front wheels when turning at low speeds. Took it to the Nissan dealer and they stated there was a bulletin on the issue, which was a manufacturing defect in the strut mount assembly. They replaced both in the front wheels and it was under warranty”

What Owners Say

Automatic climate control

“It takes anywhere from 20-30 minutes before it cools off. It keeps switching blowers from front, back and below and turn it self off I'm usually home when it finally cools off”

Anonymous, MO (2016 Nissan Rogue SL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

“When riding for more than an hour, the passenger side air heater stops working. It warms up when you dial the a/c up to 92 degress. We went to the dealer and they could not fix it”

Anonymous, IL (2016 Nissan Rogue SL 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

“One figures that when you set an automatic climate control to a certain temperature, it will adjust the cabin temperature to that point and then blow that temperature. The Nissan Rogue automatic climate control did not do that. When the automatic climate control was set to 61, it would blow air at 53, yet when it was set to 62, it would blow air at 83. Needless to say, we'd have to fiddle every few minutes to be comfortable. Also, if you have dual zones, you expect the passenger side to blo”

Greta C., VA (2016 Nissan Rogue SV 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

“AC shut off - fan kept going but the air coming out was hot - it was 90 degrees in August. Got the run around from the dealer - told us we weren't setting it right and that we needed to keep it on recirculate all the time. Treated us like we were idiots. Took it back 3 times! Weather hasn't been hot enough this year nor have we driven it on a long enough trip with AC to know if it still needs work. We figure they're waiting for the warranty to run out. Also, unrelated to AC - the motorized”

Anonymous, IN (2016 Nissan Rogue SV 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Heater system

“The heater had one vent (driver center vent) that blew very hot air ( while the other vents blew significantly colder air. It was inconsistent, and did not matter the outside temperature, the interior settings, or how long the car drove. It became so bad, we had the car into the dealer three times to be fixed, none of which actually fixed the problem. We then entered arbitration with Nissan and returned the Rogue as a lemon”

Greta C., VA (2016 Nissan Rogue SV 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
