Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2021 vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

"Backup camera failed to work intermittently. I took it in to the dealer within a week and they fixed it."

Anonymous, NC (2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7-L V8)

I talked to my dealer and they explained that they could fix the problem with a flash of my trucks computer.I haven't had it fixed yet do to the Covid 19 outbreak"

Anonymous, LA (2017 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7-L V8)

"Picture became scrambled. Dealer replaced camera under extended warranty with a $100 fee. The issue has happened again with the new camera but only once and resolved. Seemed that a cable may be getting pinched under tailgate. But dealer didn't think that was the problem."

Anonymous, AL (2017 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7-L V8)

"The screen gets lines across it like an old tv that can't get a good signal and becomes fuzzy and difficult, if not impossible to use. The problem has happened on about 5 occasions since we got the vehicle and resolved itself each time."

Anonymous, NY (2017 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7-L V8)
Display screen goes blank

"I was driving in the rain and all of the electronics went blank for approximately five seconds then it all came back on."

Anonymous, MN (2017 Ram 1500 Unsure 3.0-L V6 diesel)

"A couple of mos ago, my screen just went blank...after trying a few of the usual steps to address this, including a complete reboot by shutting down, it persisted and I brought it in...the dealership did the latest update and the problem was corrected...BUT, why didn't RAM send me a recall on it?"

Hardware replacement

"In October 2019, some genius at UConnect pushed out a wireless update to my head unit and it caused my remote starter (via the UConnect app) to stop working. To update it, I was given directions and a place to download the software update. Not a big deal as I'm an IT professional. The update failed and bricked the whole UConnect system. I ended up taking it to the dealership for updating and they resolved the issue."

Anonymous, MA (2017 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7-L V8)

Wendy B., ON (2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7-L V8)
Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"System loses settings such as saved phone numbers after about 4-8 hours of vehicle being off. Theme settings if changed lock up entire system until vehicle is off for 4-8 hours (meaning can't access some climate controls or anything there is no physical button for) Forums are loaded with this problem (related to Uconnect) and Dodge is pretty much just ignoring this is a huge problem."

Automatic climate control

"The AC did not work from the day I purchased the vehicle...the dealership was aware of it, but did not inform me, or let on it was a known problem, until I reported it. A colleague purchased a similar vehicle, same problem. I could not get in the queue for the repair until I reported the problem, and only then, did the dealership put in the claim for the necessary parts & related fluids. "Emissions junk caused truck to go into dangerous reduced power mode each winter during cold weather. Happened on freeway trying to pass slow moving bus with semi right on back bumper. Dealers lame fixes temporary - not helpful. Finally got friend to download software that prevented problem. Wish each person at EPA had emissions hardware forcefully inserted up his posterior!"

Anonymous, WI (2017 Ram 1500 Tradesman 3.0-L V6 diesel)

"Exhaust filter plugged up and vehicle reverted to limit mode - barely enough power to make it up the driveway dangerous to drive - especially on the freeway. As soon as warranty is up I intend to remove this stupid junk. Problem with environment is too many people -can't be fixed by expensive junk stuck under the hood."

Anonymous, (2017 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman 3.6-L V6)

"I am guessing a warped rotor causing a pulsation through the brake pedal. I am not surprised. I have had Chrysler vans in the past and they were brutal on brakes. Can only guess that the material is cheap used to manufacture these rotors."

Rotors

"Premature wear for one rotor."

Anonymous, NY (2017 Ram 1500 SLT 5.7-L V8)

Squeaking

"The truck is brand new and the brakes have squealed since we bought it. The brakes work fine, but nobody seems to be able to explain why they squeak. It is very irritating, especially since the truck is new with less than 10K miles. We shouldn't be having this problem"

Anonymous, IL (2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7-L V8)
Problem(s) fueling the tank

"The problem was with venting the fuel tank. The dealer incorrectly repaired by replacing the tank and then had to fix it by fixing the vent system."

Anonymous, PA (2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7-L V8)

"At 35,000 miles it became difficult to fuel vehicle. Gas pump auto shut off consistently stopped fueling every gallon or so. It has gotten worse over the past year and I intend to contact my local RAM dealer to see if there is a service bulletin about this problem."

Anonymous, (2017 Ram 1500 Express 3.6-L V6)
