Reliability History Reliability History The reliability charts are based on responses on hundreds of thousands of vehicles from our latest Annual Auto Survey. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Owner Satisfaction Owner Satisfaction To learn about satisfaction, CR has collected survey data from our annual survey on more than half a million vehicles. Our subscribers provide great insights into their satisfaction by answering one simple question: If they had it to do all over again, would they definitely buy or lease the same model? In addition, respondents also rate their cars in six categories: driving experience, comfort, value, styling, audio, and climate systems. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Anonymous, CA (2015 Ram 2500 Laramie 6.7-L 6 Cyl diesel)

"In between the front & back windows cars usually have a plastic piece, I guess for aesthetics. Back in the day it was metal, the same metal/color as the rest of the vehicle. Ram trucks don't have either, both sides have a black/matte decal..I guess it's used to get better fuel mileage? The problem is when the decal gets hot it wrinkles/buckles making the area unsightly. I had the decal replaced, because that's the only fix available, within the first year of owning my truck. Now I've had the truck 58 months and the decal is starting to wrinkle again."

"Check engine light has come on indicating incorrect DEF fluid and NOx sensor issues. The catalytic converter was changed and within a day the check engine light was on again. The truck is still in the shop, this is the third day"

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, loose or cracked seals and/or weather-stripping, air and water leaks.

What Owners Say

Air or water leaks

"Water leak along top of windshield and around high-mount brake light. Both repaired under warranty"

Anonymous, OH (2015 Ram 2500 SLT 6.7-L 6 Cyl diesel)

"I was unaware of a chronic problem with Ram pickup trucks; leaky third brake light. 4.5 years of owning this truck I noticed the carpet by the rear passenger door was wet. In trying to track where the water came from I noticed the headliner streaked with watermarks. I Googled this issue and was flooded with search hits - leaky third brake light due to inferior gasket material used inside the 3rd brake light located at the top center of the cab. I took my truck to the dealer for replacement of the gasket material for which they charged approx. $89. I filed a complaint with Ram and after some back and forth they paid for the repair in full. They wouldn't pay for the cleaning of the headliner, said I should hold onto the paperwork in case an official recall was instituted. This chronic issue has been ongoing for quite a while, some bloggers have complaints going back to 2001."

Anonymous, NJ (2015 Ram 2500 Laramie 6.7-L 6 Cyl diesel)
